[quote ScottishMouse]This is the nice new jacket I saw them unpacking in Edinburgh yesterday.

Looks lovely!

NoCureForLove · 27/01/2022 18:32

Oooh. That is nice. But why is it only hidden in the coats and jackets section of the website and not included in new in??

NoCureForLove · 27/01/2022 18:34

Was in tl Islington store today. Tried on yhe circle dress - same fabric as the Vale shirt. Very nice but not for me. It was Huge even by Toast standards and the unmatched pattern where bodice met dkirt at the waist gave me a headache / made me twitchy Grin

NoCureForLove · 27/01/2022 18:37

The Vale shirt was also almost sold out in store - just an 8 left - but they saud yhere be more stock in time...

I bought the denim workwear coat. I love it and it will get a LOT of wear. Can style as dress too...

I love that coat!
neveradullmoment99 · 27/01/2022 18:42

I remember having a Toast indigo denim coat many years ago. Purchased in the sale and then sold it as I got fed up with it. I have regretted it ever since! It may be on my wish list!

neveradullmoment99 · 27/01/2022 18:42

Not really fussed at all for the vale print. Its just not me.

NoCureForLove · 27/01/2022 19:06

For anyone contemplating the Vale print the darkest colour is a dark navy - not black or darker brown...

Countmeout · 27/01/2022 19:13

It is so difficult to see the colours online, and sometimes when things come they look less vibrant than they appear. I thought it might be navy @NoCureForLove
The jacket @ScottishMouselinked is not that much cheaper than the poplin blouse that might be a jacket. It looks a bit like the workwear jacket from a couple of years ago which was (only!) £165. Believe it or not I have a beaded hair bobble and slides that matches the beaded jacket. Now can you buy an item just because you have matching hair accessories 🤣
Agree the hemp canvas jacket is buried on the site.

I thought it was brown!
ToastCosILoveIt · 27/01/2022 20:16

I agree re the poor range of sizes in the Toast shops which makes trying on and seeing if you need to size up/down almost impossible.

I looked at the Toast denim coat too on sunday in store: it looked absolutely divine, although I didn't try it on (I was worried I would be too tempted).

I wonder why we, the customers, have to work so hard in stores and online to find what we like/see how it might look etc. Also agree that the prices, as with last year, continue to creep upwards. It is only some of the shirts now that are at a reasonable price. All of the dresses seem to be nudging towards and over £200.

Snowyowl78 · 28/01/2022 08:22

On the prices discussion, I have just noticed that the Alix Indigo Twill Trousers have gone up by £10 to £175 since the first week of Jan. Pretty steep.

Countmeout · 28/01/2022 08:52

I suppose prices are up everywhere. I’ve been in other shops and been surprised at the price of something when I lift it to look closer. It seems like a readjustment.
When Next(apologies - cast me out) opened in my town in 1984 I bought a little unlined cotton jacket which was £30 or £40 , which was a lot then. Maybe not a good example but you know what I mean. It’s just annoying if they put up the price of something they probably have in stock.
We will all have to wear what we have to death and then make use of the repair service.

ScottishMouse · 28/01/2022 08:57

Yep, prices are creeping up everywhere. And sadly, in many cases, quality is going down at the same time. At least Toast quality is still good.
We eat out very infrequently, but last week went for dinner at a restaurant we have been to a number of times before to celebrate a birthday. The bill was a big chunk more than it had been previously (when we had probably ordered pretty much the same things), and the portions were also considerably smaller. It’s happening everywhere unfortunately.

AFingerofFudge · 28/01/2022 10:50

Yes I mentioned earlier in the thread about the pyjamas that have gone from £99 to £115!

Laska2Meryls · 28/01/2022 12:08

Also I noticed them the khaki Elena shirt has gone up £10 to £175 also..
I bought a similar one for 32 from Mint Velvet sale instead ...

Saurus72 · 28/01/2022 13:03

Cos is looking pretty good for work dresses. I’ll be going in 1 or 2 days a week next month so it will be good to have a couple of new options. Dresses around £70 which, knowing Cos quality, seems pretty decent. Will definitely need to go to a shop tho, can’t be doing with all of the returns.

Very hopeful for a few new Toast dresses for weekends. While I’m not exactly happy to pay c. £200 for each, the 4 I bought for AW have been worn on repeat, I feel amazing in them and they look brand new still. So it feels ok to buy things when they’re worth it to me.

This morning’s new item. I have to say I like this.

Wore the gathered hem skirt going out this morning with the Aran sweater from about 2 years ago. I didn’t iron it and found with hanging creases had dropped out a bit. May have been deluded about that

It’s my birthday today and, amongst other numerous gifts, I’ve received £150 in gift cards for Toast
So excited, although I now have to wait for the next sale

Looks really beautiful! I have it in oil.

I think its very unfair to do this with old stock. Maybe slightly different with new season items. Bit of a cheek doing it with clothes that have been hanging around a warehouse for months.
Laska2Meryls · 28/01/2022 17:41

Happy birthday Nanasue what a fab present!

Laska2Meryls · 28/01/2022 17:44

That new aran cardi, is very nice, but again expensive...I am really glad that I kept the apple one from the sale..
I sent back the oil gathered skirt though.. was nice but I just thought that it would be one of those items that would forever hang in my wardrobe not worn..

Laska2Meryls · 28/01/2022 17:55

I agree with you Neveradullmoment its really cheeky to raise the price of something that has been around for ages. I tried that shirt last summer and I thought that it was too expensive then, was hoping that it would be in the sale.... anyway instead of that I have bought this very similarMint velvet shirt
,.. note price difference.. its really good as well, fabric is not at all flimsy and hangs beautifully. www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/khaki-oversized-longline-shirt/29488..
