Buying my first designer bag...help please!

Hello lovely people of style and beauty, I'm in the market for a gorgeous designer bag, budget is around £1700 possibly 2k if im absolutely in love.

At the moment I'm loving this bag .. I just love the style , the colour, everything about it really, but wondering if there are any other similar style bags out there that I might love abit more ! I don't want to rush into a purchase as it's a lot of money but at the same time, I do really love this bag! Now my dc are all primary school aged, I can carry a smaller bag which is amazing !

Thoughts please and also any suggestions would be very welcome

At the moment like I said I have no big branded ones, I have a small black lk bennet, cross body one which has served me well but I think I'll probably give that to dd 12 (almost 13) when I get my bag as it just about fits my phone and one or two other small bits and doesn't fit my purse.The other bags I sometimes swap to are all Kate spades, I've got three : a light pink, a bright pink and a polka dot black and white one. All of these are quite summery to be fair although especially the pink. I must just like a lighter coloured bag!

Is it ok to admit on here to having fakes or is that steps too far for the bag lovers of mn? 😂🤪

@slaybellsringing - I have a fake Stella McCartney Fallabella in a sort of shimmery pink colour - it looks real and I've got a black one which is real.

I just saw it in a local boutique and went for it. It is the perfect summer bag. So many people have seen it and said 'oh that's so pretty' and no one realises it's fake unless you search for the round tag - if I want to show off and lie that it's real I just say it fell off!

As with all light bags you just have to be careful and wear with light clothes ( as I found out ) if you really, really love the light one then get that it you will be thinking about it always.

I wanted a light bag for my 50th at the end of the month and Dh bought me this Chanel camelia woc in a lightish blue - I know I'll use it a lot ( just will be careful to wear with light colours ).

I went to Dior in the summer and wanted to look at the Chanel boutique too whilst I was there. The bag I wanted from Dior was tapestry and light and would easily mark and sensibly I should have bought a darker leather one but my heart wanted the Dior and oh my goodness it still makes my heart sing.

Go on OP get the lighter one if that's the one that you really want!

@slaybellsringing honestly I traveled up on the train from Somerset to london that day as apparently they had it in stock.

It was one of the last two in the U.K. and they were holding the other one for someone so I asked them to hold it for two hours whilst I went for lunch and I just knew it was going to be that one.

In the flesh the reverse tapestry is just exquisite- I love it so much. I've bought two twillys ( little neck type scarves ) whilst I was there to help protect the handles.

Dior will undertake cleaning it for you apparently if you mark it and I've heard their customer service is second to none.

So com'on which one are you going to get? I honestly love the first one you linked to.
The pochette metis is such a lovely bag and practical too! Ha ha I do love a bag thread!

Where are you all buying your pre loved bags from and how do you know they're genuine and not a good fake ? So new to all of this.

I follow Flavia Stuttgen on instagram, she sells some of her items though Sellier Knightsbridge, they have instagram / website and a shop in London.

They authenticate all their sales and have some scary examples of people being sold incredibly good fakes. It's terrifying really as people have parted with thousands!

Please don't buy off Facebook or EBay!

And as for the lady questioning why you want to spend £2k on a bag, luxury handbags are actually an incredible investment at the minute! Most top brands are only going up in price, even for second hand.

Sellier are very good as are Bagista.

I've also purchased from 'hardly ever worn it' but I think whomever you purchase from if you do go pre-loved ( and most of mine are ) use an independent authentication service such as lolipuff or authenticate4u . Beware of Vestaire I've heard they sell the odd super-fake and they have their own in house authenticators!

I always pay via PayPal and pay the extra fees so I am covered the only exception being a lady I buy from on a bag fb group whom I know buys directly from chanel so I can see the receipt.

I've bought from Shian too and she is wonderful to deal with. Most of the pre-loved stuff she sells is immaculate.

Your DH being an enabler is awesome :) I would stir clear of light coloured bags. I learnt the hard way and cannot carry a yellow bag I loved because of colour transfer from denim. Can't resell it either cos value deminshed due to transfer. I am not overly keen on LV but very nearly bought the blue Marine Metis. So whatever you decide enjoy and post here!

I would also suggest you look at bottega veneta and Loewe, writhing your budget and beautiful designs

I don't want to jinx it but if it was in stock at 6pm tonight I think there's a fair chance of it still being there early tomorrow morning. That's not much time for it to be dangerously available before you get to it🤞🏻
