Buying my first designer bag...help please!

Hello lovely people of style and beauty, I'm in the market for a gorgeous designer bag, budget is around £1700 possibly 2k if im absolutely in love.

At the moment I'm loving this bag .. I just love the style , the colour, everything about it really, but wondering if there are any other similar style bags out there that I might love abit more ! I don't want to rush into a purchase as it's a lot of money but at the same time, I do really love this bag! Now my dc are all primary school aged, I can carry a smaller bag which is amazing !

Thoughts please and also any suggestions would be very welcome

My sis in law has that one. It’s really lovely. Not altogether different from the out of stock one. So far as resale that’s second in line. I know you’re not thinking of selling right now but it’s always a bonus if you can have a good few years out of it and not lose much money.

Your DH is great. I love that he’s excited for you. So am I. I’m very invested in this purchase 🤣🤣

But but but...other posters are right about holding on. If you want the other one just sit tight. Check vestiaire too. They are definitely authentic. You can buy it brand new in there.

Haha urghhh I hate waiting , I'm so impatient ! I came on here loving the lighter one but I'm now swaying towards the monogrammed ones, both are gorgeous ... all of them are gorgeous !!!

And dh is so funny 🤣, I sent him screenshots of all the colours to his phone and he paused his programme and he was like right ok, let's see this properly ... he loved the monogrammed ones most as well! We watched the YouTube video where the YouTuber talks about 5 reasons not to buy the bag and after he was like Meh...I'd still buy it 🤣

So now it's just a waiting game. It might never come back in stock 😫😫😫

Keep checking for the monogrammed canvas Pochette Metis on a regular basis. LV seems to re-stock at odd times and popular items sell out really fast. I want the Pochette Metis in Black Empreinte but I am waiting until I go to Paris next.

I have this in red empreinte leather and I love it so much. It fits a ton of stuff and i regularly get compliments on it. Its one of my most used bags and goes with casual or more dressy outfits. You should order it!

Yes and sometimes if the flap isn't closed the contents spill out as it's swinging

Where are you all buying your pre loved bags from and how do you know they're genuine and not a good fake ? So new to all of this.

There are 2 amazing resellers where you will find fantastic preloved bags , great customer service and the advantage of being able to return if not 100% as they are businesses.

OP my husband is the worst/best purchase encourager as well. His question when I'm deliberating over a new bag is do you love it and can you afford it? If so then buy it!

Have you set up your LV account with payment card? You can also add your bag to the wish list for easier checking out! My friend wanted a Neverfull in the summer, she purchased it but the order didn't go through.
I have an account, added the bag to my wish list kept checking and managed to add to bag and purchase. I also paid through PayPal so I am not sure if that made a difference.

For me (I hate obvious designer logos) I'd get the black or red or even navy one. Far more use out of it and no worries about staining.

If you do want a light coloured bag then do as relative of mine does and just bring out for occasions like weddings, christenings, evenings etc - she has loads and she lends them out sometimes!

Years ago a boyfriend bought me a designer bag - can't recall but think it was Chloe - I didn't like it much anyway but it was light beige - there was colour transfer onto it I think from a pen (onto outside) and I did manage to get it cleaned off but was irritated about it. He'd got me the beige to go with a wedding outfit for me as he was best man at the wedding. After we broke up I sold it on I think Vestiare Collective.

I think if I totally lose my patience I'll go for the black leather. I'll give the monogrammed ones a week to come back in stock but I have a feeling neither of them will.

I'm not gonna lie, I actually did want my first bag to have obvious logo'ing cos what's the point otherwise 🤣

My only contribution to your dilemma is choose one you love LOVE & if it's not in stock WAIT.

It's too much money (& a calf was killed for it) to buy impulsively & regret not waiting for the one you LOVE. Your DH means well I'm sure, but he needs to calm down too!

I've looked at loads of these threads over the years, (it's a bit like car crash Tv to me🤣) a couple of bags over the year I've thought 'if it wasn't leather & the price of a small car I wouldn't mind that. The only one I've I've actually like is the one above - the blue with the red trim). Personally I prefer the calf in the paddock & canvas bags. 💁🏻‍♀️

@slaybellsringing just a thought are you close to a store? You can phone customer services to see if any have stock. It can be a bit hit and miss who you talk too but some of the assistants are really helpful.
I managed to track down a Noenoe in August, none online but Selfridges had stock. Went to Selfridges and the one they had was damaged and they tried to encourage me to buy the other print. We had to go to Bond Street anyway to get my friends bag so I asked, after about 30 minutes they located one that had been put aside and not collected! That one came home with me 😀

The thing I love about my Chanel 2.55 is the lack of obvious logo - no interlocked gold CC, just an understated mademoiselle clasp with the word 'Chanel' in discreet lettering (& it didn't even have that till Lagerfeld added it!) But horses for courses OP 🙂

I agree with those saying only get the one you really want - don't compromise on an expensive purchase - get the exact item, even if it means waiting.

OP I would have gone for the black empriente if I didn't already have too many black bags. It's gorgeous. And it does still have the logo, it's just not as 'in your face.'

@tiredofthisshit21 the black is still a great contender , I'm just not sure so I've not clicked that button yet! My initial love was for the light coloured leather , then I swung to the black and then to the monograms... I might do a 360 and order the light leather in the end 🤣

Also, if I order the leather one and the canvas one comes back in stock.. dh will then have a very solid idea of what to get for my Birthday/combined anniversary gift .. right?? 😂

At the moment like I said I have no big branded ones, I have a small black lk bennet, cross body one which has served me well but I think I'll probably give that to dd 12 (almost 13) when I get my bag as it just about fits my phone and one or two other small bits and doesn't fit my purse.The other bags I sometimes swap to are all Kate spades, I've got three : a light pink, a bright pink and a polka dot black and white one. All of these are quite summery to be fair although especially the pink. I must just like a lighter coloured bag!

Is it ok to admit on here to having fakes or is that steps too far for the bag lovers of mn? 😂🤪

OP I love both the bags you've posted - was going to piggyback onto your thread as I'm thinking of ordering an LV but can't decide between two. But il start my own thread as il probably get more responses!

Ah no if you get a second one it has to be different - that's the law!! (Although I have to admit to having two Mulberry Lilys in very different colours...!!) Also don't forget matching purses! You've started something here!

@slaybellsringing - LOL - I agree with you - if you're into obvious logo'ing then go for it - no point in having no obvious logo'ing if that's not what you'd like!

I've always been very wary of logos (I had a logo Burberry bag when they were more trendy!) but that's just because they aren't me at all!

Why don't you wait for the monogrammed ones to come back into stock? Can't you email or ring them and ask them? I'd do that.
