As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

@AlDanvers sorry to hear about your mum. I hope all goes as well as it can.

ShaneTheThird · 30/12/2021 11:51

@AlDanvers Flowers

For me I want to keep on top of the housework every day.

Minimise my wardrobe to French casual wardrobe so like 50 items of clothes/shoes/bags in total

Straighten my hair each day.

Going to dentist next week

New underwear

Keep nails looking nice.

Keep up skin care routine.

ReginaaPhalange · 30/12/2021 12:06

@ShaneTheThird I wrote down a list of rooms that I want to clean each day (Mon-fri) and that way I'm only spending 20 - 30 minutes a day doing the housework. Obviously I keep the house tidy as I go along, but for example:

Monday - deep living room clean - hoover the sofa, dust the blinds etc

Tuesday - bathroom deep clean

Wednesday - deep kitchen clean

Etc. I clean my kitchen down every night etc but kitchen clean would be like emptying the fridge and wiping down the shelves etc!

I cannot remember where I got the inspiration to do the rota from, it was definitely an online personality (not mrs hinch but I do follow her too!!)

ReginaaPhalange · 30/12/2021 12:06

@AlDanvers Thanks

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 30/12/2021 12:13

@Katyppp I get exercise too. Well, I hate sweating, it just makes me feel dirty and gross. I do like swimming and dancing and walking though, and gentle yoga so I’m focusing on them as my exercise. I don’t need to be able to run a marathon in life or anything like that

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 30/12/2021 12:17

For housework I follow Mrs Hinch, and I have her little book of lists. I like the way I spend Monday morning writing out my jobs to do during the week, then gradually tick them off as they are done with no pressure of doing each room on a specific rota. The TOMM seems too military and structured for me

ReginaaPhalange · 30/12/2021 12:52

I've added in my 'naaaiiceeeee' L'Occitane cherry blossom hand cream into my labour bag - that way I can have even just a slither of princessing 🤣

Anotherhill · 30/12/2021 13:55

I’m in too. I’ve started wearing one my going-out coats as more of a day coat ( as opposed to my thick dogwalking coat) and found it really interesting how people react differently to you if you look a little bit smarter. Got a foot peel ready to go, and hair appointment booked.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 30/12/2021 17:05

I'm in!
I've gained Covid weight (like a stone!)
I stopped running
I've drunk too much

I need to start taking care of myself of again desperately.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 30/12/2021 17:06

2 stone!!

blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 30/12/2021 17:23

Haircut and colour booked for next Monday. It's been six months so is much needed.

deadlanguage · 30/12/2021 17:28

@AlDanvers Flowers

Today I used a hair mask and moisturised all over including feet which usually get forgotten!
I ordered some makeup samples a couple of weeks ago and all the foundation/concealer ones are too orange (I have very pale, cool toned skin) but I have lucked upon a shade of lipstick which suits me so will be ordering a full size one and then I can really feel like my life is together Wink

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 30/12/2021 17:43

@deadlanguage if you have a foundation that is the right shade for you, then I've always found

findation.com/

has matched me quite successfully from one brand to another.

AlDanvers · 30/12/2021 18:45

Thank you all for your kind words.

It was done. I did put a bit of make up. Which promptly got cried off.

Threads like these and princessing really helps to give me something else to think about. So thank you all. Flowers

AlDanvers · 30/12/2021 18:47

Has anyone tried Chantecaille future skin foundation?

vjg13 · 30/12/2021 19:32

@AlDanvers** I find that focussing on the more trivial aspects of life really helps get me through the gritty reality.

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 30/12/2021 21:37

For anyone who would like better lashes I can recommend this. I got my lashes tinted today and the beauty therapist commented on how long mine are. I can only put it down to using this under my mascara regularly as I haven't done anything else.

is there a 2022 princessing thread?
IDKAYBIF32 · 30/12/2021 22:12

@AlDanvers
Hope you're having a nice rest now, must have been a very hard day Flowers. I agree threads like these are lovely as they are nice and positive. 'Princessing' to me is just another word for self care, some people might scoff a bit at it, but it's important to me to look after myself so I can function.

@ReginaaPhalange

Sounds like the organised mum method (TOMM). She has "level 1 jobs" like wiping down kitchen surfaces that get done everyday, and then focus on one room a day. I've based our cleaning rota on it, but changed it to:
Monday = Kitchen
Tuesday = Living room and hallway
Wednesday = Bathrooms
Thursday = Bedroom
Friday and Saturday off, and then the "focus Friday" stuff with the bigger jobs that rotate round, we'll do on Sunday, it should only take 15 minutes a day with both of us doing it...as long as we stick to it!

I've decluttered the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms today, feeling all lovely and fresh, now just need to do the living room and hallway and then keep on top of it! Washed and ironed some brand new bedding that I got in the sales, and been for second run of couch to 5k.

ReginaaPhalange · 30/12/2021 22:17

@IDKAYBIF32 it is now that I've googled it haha!!!! I find it easy to stick to :) long May it continue!!

steelrose · 30/12/2021 22:46

@AlDanvers
Has anyone tried Chantecaille future skin foundation?
Yes, I've purchased it several times, if money was no object it'd be the only foundation I'd ever wear. It's bloody gorgeous!

ShaneTheThird · 30/12/2021 23:37

Cleaning rotas sound great!

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 30/12/2021 23:47

Drank more water

Avoided alcohol

Wore a new top (a sweatshirt in a colour wouldn't normally pick but l felt great)

Ate only a little bit of chocolate!

Feeling less bloated

Flowers to those that need them

👸 tiaras will be straighter soon!

Nefelibata86 · 31/12/2021 00:13

Taking lots of notes!
For anyone using revitalash type products are there still side effects such as lightening of the eye colour? That puts me off massively.
Also always worried about lemon and hot water combo so glad to see I’m not the only one.
Working on my list - sadly a lot of mine is bare minimum stuff I’ve been neglecting to do and while I’m also not necessarily a fan of the princess ing term, for me neglecting aspects is a sign I’m not valuing myself.
Like not wearing a mouth guard to prevent my teeth grinding. The soles of my feet are in a real state and my hairdresser referring to exfoliating feet as just a bare minimum hygiene task made me realise how much things have slipped.
@Methenyouplus4 I had a facial once that included extraction and got rid of my enlarged pores and blackheads around my nose permanently. Could be I’m just not looking closely enough!

foxywheaton75 · 31/12/2021 00:25

Placemarking to read properly tomorrow, great thread!

CommanderBurnham · 31/12/2021 00:32

@Nefelibata86 I use rapidlash which is much cheaper and doesn't have bimatoprost in it. Works really well but takes a good few weeks.
