As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

@aldanvers I use Future Skin. It is brilliant - the pot lasts for a very, very long time so better value than it might at first appear! The only thing I will say is that it transports terribly.

AlDanvers · 31/12/2021 08:15

@steelrose & @CaptainMal thank you. I think I am going to treat myself Smile

SpideySenseTingles · 31/12/2021 08:16

Yesterday I made some mini princessessing steps. Had a lovely bath last night followed by moisturiser and then read in bed, instead of doom scrolling.

This morning I got out of bed when I woke up instead of snoozing and came downstairs for a little quiet prayer, bible reading and meditation time. I know my whole head is better when I am actively practicing my faith so I'm going to be more disciplined this next year with morning quiet times.

I'm getting my booster jab today and at some point this evening I'm going to get DH to cut and colour my hair. (He volunteered to learn how to over lockdown and does a decent job for simple trims)

psuedocream3 · 31/12/2021 08:26

Today I'm going all out tan, makeup, hair, nicest clothes and perfume to see in the new year.

We are off shopping today and I intend to check out a few shopsto see if I can fill some gaps in my wardrobe whilst the sales are still on. Prioritising a smart winter coat and trousers but impractical me wants dresses and skirts when I have enough.

I also cannot get my head around skincare, I cannot seem to understand serums and retinol/vitamin c and how it all goes together, shall be asking at the shops today to see what they say.

Still doing lots of water, vitamins, healthy eating, no alcohol, daily makeup and perfume which is a good start, and TOMM is going ok.

Restlessinthenorth · 31/12/2021 08:31

Loving reading everyone's plans. I have decided to start on Monday properly. I have a weekend to London back end of March with a good friend, so going to use that as motivation. It would be great to go feeling a lot better in myself (and with my clothes not so tight!)

PodcastFunFair · 31/12/2021 09:13

Can I join you all.
Definitely need to lose weight it's my 49th this summer I currently the biggest I've ever been but really determined to get fitter and lose weight.
I will be going alcohol free in week
Exercise classes x3 a week
30 minutes of just dance every day as home working so not moving much
Start using tanning water daily into body moisturiser
Regular eyebrow and lash tint

My husband brought me a gel nail and uv machine from amazon for Xmas honestly cannot recommend it enough so pleased with my DIY gel nails recently paid £30 for get them done in salon and my home version looks very close to it so I will be keeping my nails nice for starters

Any recommendations for skin care routine please mine is non existent atm
Especially any recommendations for home care or salon treatments for neck rings or toning neck?

PodcastFunFair · 31/12/2021 09:14

40th not 49th!

clpsmum · 31/12/2021 09:24

I'm in I need to lose weight and get fit.

I'm planning to eat healthily and exercise in some form every day.

Also need to look after hair/skin/nails more

When did I just let myself go like this???

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 31/12/2021 13:13

When did I just let myself go like this???

I’m guessing March 2020, like I imagine the rest of us. When joggers replaced jeans, and saw no one except during the weekly zoom quiz call so didn’t need to even brush our hair, nevermind skincare and make up. And a 30 minute “exercise walk” with dc was not enough to burn the excess calories we ate whilst watching tiger king Wink

I’m having a good day today. Went to dancercise class last night and this morNing I actually woke up at 8 and instead of just going back to sleep and feeling grouchy the rest of the day, I actually stayed awake. Does anyone else find if they have too much sleep it makes them really sluggish? That’s all I’ve been doing for the last 2 weeks and I hate it but couldn’t stop sleeping. So waking up with positive energy this morning was a welcome change. I’ve also sewed up the hole in my only midi dress and have decided to wear that today instead of my usual leggings and sweatshirt. Going to straighten my hair after lunch ready for going out to dinner tonight. Going to wave goodbye to 2021 with joy this evening.

Oh and I did look to sign up to the gym and it’s half price January but I don’t know whether to sign up now or wait and see if there is a better offer tomorrow (like free January). Does anyone have any experience with best offers? It’s Bannatyne if that helps

hiptobeasquare · 31/12/2021 13:32

My plan is:

Go swimming once a week.
Up my veg intake.
Dye my hair.
Watch some YouTube tutorials about makeup application to shake up my routine.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 31/12/2021 13:33

Really Xmas Envy of your exercise buzz @Sunshinedreaming2022!

Will get out tomorrow and have a jog or maybe spin bike and weights.

I'm trying to do princessing on a budget at the minute. I'm saving for emergencies and also considering some bigger ticket beauty type things (eg lip fillers).

Also trying to reduce carbs on a budget, which I'm finding tricky... Maybe it's lack of imagination though!

I have been very restrained when topping up my make up bag recently though. Normally I get what's run out and then add a lipstick and lip liner that I don't need. But I just got what has run out this time, and have not succumbed to the clothes in the sales either Halo

Monsoon92 · 31/12/2021 14:50

Loving this thread, always need one at this time of year!
I'm going to lose the baby weight - back to work in May so that's my goal. That means more walking, C25k and T25 workouts.

Me and my husband want to eat healthier. We bought a boditrax scales so we've already weighed ourselves for motivation.

I've started Skin & Me already, so hoping to see some changes in the next few months. Need to practice more with different hairstyles and makeup to shake things up a bit!

Other than that I just need to make sure like others on here that I stay organised - keep my house clean and lovely, stay on top of food and make sure my bedroom is always a nice relaxing space now the baby has gone into her own room! And sort my wardrobe out so my style actually reflects me and what I like.

And I'm finally going to buy a lovely perfume to wear every day!

Newnamefor2022 · 31/12/2021 17:11

What a lovely thread, may I join you?

I'm doing the FAST 800 diet (again) and eating once a day.
10k steps a day.
Lots of moisturising for my hands and cuticles so I stop picking my nails.
Drink more water
Wear nail varnish
Start some yoga before I seize up too much more
Wear earrings most days
Stop feeling guilty about some mistake clothes purchases and recycle them, rather than letting them make me feel bad!
Have flowers in the house each week. I'm using Cornish flowers as I love their daffy and narcissi.
Stop wearing the worn out gym kit and use the new stuff, sitting in my cupboard!! Blush

Thank you for the inspiration!

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 31/12/2021 17:55

Looking forward to hearing how you all get on!

SarahJessicaParker1 · 31/12/2021 17:58

Looks as if the fabulous BIWI might run a low carb boot camp in the next month so I'm joining that.

I started Dry Jan early this week, but might have a drink or two tonight as a last hurrah!

Hope everyone has a lovely NYE and a very princessy start to 2022 Xmas GrinGlitterball

FiloPasty · 31/12/2021 18:05

I’m in, did anyone else get a Lumea for Xmas? I need soneone to check in with me, maybe we need a lumea thread?

Pegasussnail · 31/12/2021 18:11

I didn't get one for Christmas filo but I have one. Need to use it more routinely. It takes a while but will be so worth it

ReginaaPhalange · 31/12/2021 18:13

Admitted into hospital for induction which is starting on Sunday - lots of monitoring in between. I was allowed home to get my things etc so I had a bath with my luxury items and layered myself in rich body cream and packed my super comfy jammies! So I'm planning to feel like a hospitalised princess for the next 2 days lol!!!!

ShaneTheThird · 31/12/2021 18:14

@ReginaaPhalange ooh good luck!

Jessie75 · 31/12/2021 18:17

@ReginaaPhalange good luck, hurry up baby vibes being sent your way 🥰

SarahJessicaParker1 · 31/12/2021 18:23

Good luck @ReginaaPhalange and miniRegina! Also sending hurry up baby vibes to you

ReginaaPhalange · 31/12/2021 18:27

Hehe thank you lovelies :) xx

AlDanvers · 31/12/2021 20:46

@ReginaaPhalange good luck!!!

Can someone talk to me about eyebrows.

I am thinking of tattoo or micro blading, so experiences with that would be great.

But also what products are everyone using. I use a make up revolution pencil. I think I need a wax or gel to keep the hair in place.

I am not sure wethwr I should switch to powder. I like a groom but nore overly 'done' look.

SocksAndTheCity · 31/12/2021 21:45

@AlDanvers I had microblading last year after putting it off for ages and it was a complete gamechanger after having plucked them to death in the 90's. It used to take me fifteen minutes to do the makeup so they looked normal and now I don't have to bother at all if I don't want to, although I normally use some gel or something to keep the hair that's there neat.

I joined a very nice gym near me today! It's more expensive than the ones further away but I can walk to it in less than ten minutes and it has a pool plus lots of classes which I like, so I feel like I'm getting somewhere Smile

Cantthinkofabettername · 31/12/2021 22:35

I’ve signed up for the Joe Wicks app
Doing dry January
Using up my skincare bits and pieces and will then think properly about what I replace them with
Drinking more water and less caffeine
10,000 steps per day
Actually do TOMM as it works when I do it!
Read more books rather than faffing on my phone.
