As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

@SarahJessicaParker1

I've had botox, but not for 11s. I had mine for the horizontal lines on my forehead.

I think I was possibly expecting too much (a total transformation), but in reality, it didn't make that big a difference to my face. The wrinkles were gone, but I didn't really look any different if that makes sense. I also found I was so worried about getting a droopy eyelid, that it was more hassle than it was worth in the end.

Definitely try it, if you want, but it isn't necessarily something that makes an enormous difference ime. A good haircut and colour would make more difference for me.

I am trying to work the courage up but think I might go to my dentist for the jabs as they at least are medically qualified and have knowledge of facial structure medically. Do you think yours wasn't so effective because the horizontals are less 'dynamic' than the muscles that control frowns?
pinkpapaya · 29/12/2021 18:42
@pinkpapaya Botox will sort that out!! I'm going to put money aside to get my Botox redone once my baby is born and I've stopped BF! Totally transforms my face!
Thanks RP! Did you just get one area done? Was it painful? How long did the effects last for you?

ReginaaPhalange · 29/12/2021 18:50

@pinkpapaya I got 3 areas, the 11's, forehead and crows feet. I found it lasted about 12 weeks for me

SarahJessicaParker1 · 29/12/2021 20:19

I'm honestly not sure and I don't have 11s yet. But definitely for me, the expense and then the anxiety re side effects vs the results didn't add up for me. But I'm glad I tried it! And I didn't get any bad side effects anyway

Considering lip fillers next! Probably won't do botox again for a while.

Hamilfan · 29/12/2021 21:36

I'm in. Since March 2020 I have let myself go! Earlier this year I stood on the scales and cried as I had put on 3 1/2 stone!

I have taken steps, I've lost 2 stone (well, Xmas might have added some back on), had a new haircut and bought some new clothes, however I want to keep on looking after myself. I turn 39 in a couple of weeks and suddenly feel the ageing fear in a way I haven't before.

So! Plan is to keep on losing weight, drink more water, move more and looking into collagen supplements for my skin. Im getting lip fillers next week to even out my thin top lip and I want to get my teeth whitened too. When I turn 40 I want to know I am the best version of myself

CommanderBurnham · 29/12/2021 21:43

@Methenyouplus4 thanks for the podcast recommendation

@Omletteforbreakfast I'm building up to it with a view to starting on Sunday. So I'm having normal coffee up until about 12pm. Will switch that to black tea or coffee from Sunday. The big test will be when the kids are back to school and im back at work. Big batch cook planned on Saturday.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 29/12/2021 22:29

Day of no alcohol complete. Tomorrow- no chocolate.

I. Can. Do. This!

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 29/12/2021 22:43

Right

I've emailed about getting a nail appointment
I've signed up for a 21 day challenge second week in January but I'll start prepping next week.

Alas today I've stuffed myself with chocolate and cheese. But now drinking 0.5l of water to offset some of it. And I'll put my lotions and potions on my face when I go to bed in a bit

deadlanguage · 29/12/2021 23:48

Had a lot of (vegan) cheese and chocolate today but redeemed myself with a massive salad (Wink) for dinner, have drunk loads of water today and just put overnight serum on my face and eczema cream on my hands. Steps in the right direction Smile

Infracat · 29/12/2021 23:49

Im in too.

Eesha · 30/12/2021 06:00

I second the whole water thing. 2L is for someone 'normal sized' whereas I'm close to 1 stone over so 3L is my figure. I have the bottles with the times on them too.
Regular hair appointments with a professional - when I tried a home dye, I was told my once beautiful hair lacked lustre and it took a while to fix
Cooking at home - no takeout
No alcohol
Nails/waxing if required
Italian scrubbing cloths do wonders for my skin

ElftonWednesday · 30/12/2021 06:06

Princessing? Ugh Hmm I'm so not in.

That's cool! Though I think you misunderstood. There was no obligation on you to join, click on the thread or comment.

I have done well keeping up to my skin care. But it's mum's funeral today, I am guessing I won't be feeling up to my evening routine tonight.

Trying to find the motivation to put some make up on. Mum loved a good princessing. Just realised I don't have a water proof mascara so I will skip that.

I really need to drink more water though

Carriemac · 30/12/2021 07:39

@AlDanvers I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, what a sad time. Be nice to yourself and I hope it all goes ok today . Thanks

SpideySenseTingles · 30/12/2021 07:42

Flowers for you @AlDanvers. Hope the funeral goes well and that your loved ones look after you today.

I got back home late last night after being away for Christmas. So my big things today are to unpack, sort the washing out and do a food shop. I've meal planned a healthy (ish) week of food to recover from the Christmas binge fest.

Chocolatetrifle · 30/12/2021 08:14

@AlDanverssp so sorry for your loss of Mum, hope all goes well today Flowers

CaptainMal · 30/12/2021 08:43

Walked 20,000 steps yesterday (walking holiday) and didn't overcompensate with lots of pub grub, so feeling good!

@methenyouplus4 it's a good few hundred for each consultation, then a few hundred in outlay for the initial creams. No pauses between applying things (perhaps I should, but doesn't seem to have a negative effect!)

CaptainMal · 30/12/2021 08:44

@AlDanvers hope today goes as ok as it can do. Sorry to hear about your mum.

Henonthehill · 30/12/2021 09:07

@AlDanvers sorry to hear of your loss, hope you have lots of love and support around you today Flowers

I've been drinking more water, moving more, moisturising and last night, I read a chapter of my book instead of doom scrolling before bed... Small steps!

Hope everyone's day goes well Brew

psuedocream3 · 30/12/2021 09:07

Morning everyone, how is everyone getting on?

I'm finding it hard to sit and find time to researchthings like the best skincare products and routine with the kids off school and husband off work, need time to dedicate to that.

So far I have sorted prescriptions and ordered vitamins. Downloaded an app for daily task reminders and put TOMM tasks in. I have got prices for microblading and eyelash infills. Doing skincare, makeup and hair daily.

Todays task is to research and order skincare, replenish haircare and fake tan, order new makeup, go through wardrobe and work out what I need to fill in he gaps - I have vouchers to buy some new clothes. Make dentist appointment for checkup so that they can then do the appointment for teeth whiteneing. I still have the trays etc so hopefully they agree I can just buy the whitening gel.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 30/12/2021 10:14

@AlDanvers sorry for the loss of your mum Flowers I hope the day goes well.

Yes I do find sheet masks are a lot of waste but I’m not a zero waste person so it doesn’t bother me too much (sorry!). I put them in the general waste, which gets sent to an incinerator to be turned into energy so it’s not like a plastic bottle being dumped on the shores of Malaysia.

Luckily I have good skin and wrinkles haven’t got to me yet, but I do have really sunken area under my eyes where the skin has clearly thinned out and I would love to get fillers there. Luckily my glasses disguise them but they do make me feel very self conscious.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 30/12/2021 10:18

I’ve kept up my skin care routine for the last 2 days and yesterday dh commented that I was glowing. I’ve also cleared out my wardrobe, trying project 333, so now only have items that I feel great in and it makes me feel so much better opening the wardrobe and being able to see all my clothes as opposed to the jumble sale it was before which was rather stressful trying to find something to wear.

Katyppp · 30/12/2021 11:02

Last year I spent sorting out a housekeeping/decluttering regime along with meal planning and generally being more organised.
This year is all about me!
My goals:

 1. Lose six stones (half a stone a month) using WW online
 2. Drink 2l water a day - I struggle with this
 3. Curate a capsule wardrobe and get rid of anything not relevant (including stuff I have been keeping for 10+ years 'for when I lose weight')
 4. Stop binge eating when bored/stressed/upset.
 5. Consider regular facials, depending on cost
 6. Read at least 30 mins per day
 7. Consider the best solution for the hairs growing on my chin!
 8. Exercise - think about it. I have it, I really do. I think realistically I will put it on the back burner this year until I have lost some weight
Katyppp · 30/12/2021 11:04

Tha should read I HATE it!

 1. Proper skin routine morning and night
10. Foundation, mascara and lipstick every day
IDKAYBIF32 · 30/12/2021 11:20

@AlDanvers

Hope today goes as well as it can Flowers

I'm having a day of sorting through our flat atm, slowly getting there, everything feels so much calmer and achieveable when the flat organised and tidy. I typed up our cleaning rota last night and just need to print it out and laminate. Will go for second run of couch to 5k shortly.
