As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

Can I join you?
I am coming from a very low starting point currently looking more like the wicked witch or even the Beast than a princess but I guess that's the point! I don't think I'll ever become a princess as I have frizzy hair which no product seems to be able to tame as soon aa there is moisture in the air and gel nails flake off within hours, destroying my nails as they do so which means they're not an option. And I'm short.
So far this year, I have been:

  • drinking 2l of water each day
  • massively reducing sugar & dairy intake & reducing wheat & caffeine. Also doing dry January
  • eating 5 veg a day and 2 or 3 fruit
  • doing a 10 min yoga session each morning and a 15 min evening session (Yoga with Kassandra - loving it)
  • doing 30 day shred (exercise DVD) each day
  • taking my vitamins - Spatone for iron, vitamin D spray, vitamin B12 spray, tumeric & magnesium tablets
  • cleansing, toning & moisturising each evening and moisturising and putting make up on each morning
  • having the last minute in the shower each morning on the coldest setting
  • keeping my nails looking nice
How much this continues after I go back to work tomorrow I'm not sure but I would love to keep this up.
AlDanvers · 05/01/2022 06:29

Hi @dynamitegirl sounds like you have made great progress already.

Up and ready make up on. I have discovered I absolutely can not do 'barely there eyeliner. I really need to practice this. I need to stop adding it. I look and think 'yeah that's almost there....just a bit more' then, all of a sudden its full of dramatic eyeliner 🙄

Really want to perfect the 'no make up make up' look.

declutteringmymind · 05/01/2022 07:17

@AlDanvers look tightlining.

Exasperatedhousehunter · 05/01/2022 08:17

Ooh, I will join too. Let myself go a bit in Nov and Dec and I'm now living in tracksuit bottoms until I lose the weight (about a stone or so).
This is my plan:

  • low carb diet to shift the weight, eating fewer than 30g carbs a day
  • couch to 10k running app and at least 8k steps per day
  • weight training with dumbbells 3x week
  • drink plenty of water daily
  • take daily vitamins
  • use prescription skin care daily (I use skin and me)
  • dye my eyebrows and eyelashes regularly
  • use eyelash growth serum regularly (I use Silly George)
  • use my nuface mini daily
  • use frownies wrinkle patch nightly between my eyebrows
  • use hand cream

I have had Profhilo in the past and will continue to have this every 6 months. It's injectable collagen (not a filler) that pumps out the skin. I'm also seriously considering some baby-Botox this year but still a bit scared of it. My biggest bug-bear is my under-eye circles that get worse all the time. I was looking into tear-trough fillers but have read way more negative than positive so it will be hardcore concealer for me instead.

I think most people would think I was fairly low maintenance but reading this list, I'm clearly not!

Thank you I will take a look at that tonight x

psuedocream3 · 05/01/2022 08:33

Congratulations @ReginaaPhalange aww how lovely!

I've been keeping up with daily tanning, hair, makeup, nails painted, water intake, perfume, and tablets taken. I still need to order some skincare, it is such a minefield isn't it, and I struggle to ustify spending money on myself, it feels so selfish but that is the mindset I need to shift because self care is important.

I have a 'to order' list for hair, makeup, skincare and tablets. I have decided to fill in the gaps of my wardrobe and looked at clothes. I filled a sale basket with £800 of clothes (sale!) and then decided to try vinted where I managed to order two pairs of trousers brand new with tags for less than one pair in the sale.

Todays plan is to book dental appointment and cleaning so I can then do the whitening appointment, and to book the consultation for microblading. And to push the order buttons without guilt on the skincare!

Jobhunterhelp · 05/01/2022 08:37

I'm in and following. Need to lose 10lb and want to get the dry skin on my feet sorted. Will book in for monthly pedicures.

ReginaaPhalange · 05/01/2022 09:51

Thank you all for the comments :) will still be on this thread and making sure I take some time out every day; even if it is just to apply hand cream or even brush my hair lol!!

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 05/01/2022 09:59

Congratulations @ReginaaPhalange on your little Prince! 💙
So today is my first day at the gym in over 15years so no make up and hair is an unwashed mess in a top knot. How do people manage look good whilst also fitting in a workout? Do I need to invest in waterproof mascara so I don’t leave with panda eyes?

Pegasussnail · 05/01/2022 10:02

Went for another walk this morning. Ate very well. Can't get my lumea to work- need to figure that out.

Pegasussnail · 05/01/2022 10:03

Oh congrats Regina lovely news.

ShaneTheThird · 05/01/2022 19:17

Congrats @ReginaaPhalange! 💙

Tried it.....loved it! Thank you so much! Xxx

declutteringmymind · 06/01/2022 09:55

@AlDanvers it's pretty nifty isn't it??

I went for a no make up make up lesson at Bobbi brown and was taught this. Probably the best money I've ever spent on make up as the fee was redeemable against product. I also walked out with my HG foundation too. I strongly recommend it.

With rewards to princessing, I've lost a few pounds and worn Jeggings this week which instantly made me feel all sucked in. The weight loss has got off to a rocky start but I've still lost a bit so I'm now extra motivated.

I'm still suffering from Covid fatigue so using horizontal time to slap all the creams on.

Going to go for a light yoga/ stretching session later.

Henonthehill · 06/01/2022 10:53

Congratulations @ReginaaPhalange , hope all is well! Flowers

So much great advice on this thread, I keep going back and forth over all the tips, thanks all!

I did some research and have found a basic skincare routine within my budget (cleanser, serum and spf) , it all arrived yesterday so I'm looking forward to using up the end of my current lotions and potions and getting started!

Booksandwine80 · 06/01/2022 11:05

I love this thread 💕
Off for my nail appointment later, going to choose something really pretty so whenever look at it I feel happy.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 06/01/2022 12:11

I resumed hydro today to help the OA in my knees ( haven’t been since September due to getting Covid ) it was lovely to do something positive for me, gentle exercises but also good for contemplation. As I knew I’d be in a warm humid atmosphere I also slapped on extra face cream and ceramide. Afterwards I followed my shower by slathering on lots of Neutrogena balm. It was a really positive start to the day.

CleanQueen123 · 06/01/2022 14:11

Speaking of tight lining, can anyone recommend an eye liner? The ones I choose either seem to be too hard and just scratch my eye without transferring colour or too soft and I end up with lumps of it between my lashes.

ShaneTheThird · 06/01/2022 15:34

That all sounds so good! I started off the new year today by going to the dentist and updating my x-rays and a check up. Next appointment is booked for 6 months :). I also bought lots of new knickers and am starting to do a clear out.

plantingandpotting · 06/01/2022 16:42

Great thread! Can I join please ☺️

Main area of focus for me is my hair. I Haven't styled, cut or coloured it properly since I had my daughter 2.5 years ago. Shameful! I've been auburn for 10+ years but thinking of switching to some subtle honey blonde highlights, Which will hopefully brighten and lift my complexion.
I look very grey skinned these days.

Would love to lose a bit of weight and get my teeth whitened.

Work through the mountain of skincare products I've amassed.

Possibly a little bit of lip and cheek filler. Although this is a relatively new idea for me so definitely more research needed.
