As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

@Methenyouplus4 that's so sweet.

I feel like I am 2 people, one who is broken and one who is dragging the the broke n one along and getting distracted by hair Conditioner, eye cream and nail colours Grin

I actually only took one official day off as Bereavement leave. I have a great employer. I am quite Senior and my teams have been fab. Up until Christmas break I have been dipping in and out, as it suits. When work is a good distraction, it's been I have worked. When it's too much or I needed to organise something and disappeared, that's fine too and the teams have picked everything up. My MD is happy for me to continue as is, until I am ready to increase back to full speed and are paying me full. They did want me to take more time off, but I did need something.

For the first time ever, I didn't log in during my Christmas break. So it will be a good distraction for a few hours and then I can take a break. I think that's why I feel a bit apprehensive. It's the longest complete break I have had in 4 years.

Had I not been wfh, I wouldn't be going back.

Methenyouplus4 · 04/01/2022 07:08

@AlDanvers I love hearing about your employer, it makes such a difference (and makes you want to stay/ give more back).

I hope today goes okay, I've been awake since, well, I barely slept due to youngest's child's medical needs. Planning a relatively easy day here, will drink water and should hit 10k steps, will do nails for work tomorrow and maybe tanning drops on face/neck/chest-feel more like a shrivelled old hag then a goddess though!

LilyGlobe · 04/01/2022 08:38

I’m not back at work until tomorrow. I feel dreadful though, not sure if it’s anxiety or just my body telling me my diet has to change. Had horrendous stomach pains and nausea last night and I’ve woken up this morning feeling like I’ve got a cold on it’s way.

Today is all about preparing for tomorrow (and some fun with DS thrown in but I’m not sure what yet!) so hair wash, nails repainted, yoga, bags packed and an early night. Alarm will go off at 6.15 which is going to be a shock to the system after nearly 3 weeks!

vjg13 · 04/01/2022 10:08

Should we share some of the products we find good here? Especially cheaper ones, I am very easily influenced to spend! Blush
I use this most days and it has kept my previously awful feet with deep heel cracks in great shape.

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 04/01/2022 10:45

can anyone recommend a home hair dye that doesn't show grey after 2 weeks? I seem to have tried them all but I am cursed with the genes of my dad's side - all women are very grey and went grey early. I cant afford to go to the salon - last time I did it cost £60 for a cut and colour and didn't even last that long either! Anyone have any suggestions? I'm only 41, I don't want to embrace the grey yet (or ever)!

@heelforheelandtoefortoe my friend has a similar issue and non-work she just has to do them every two weeks and that’s that I think she tries to go for one of the more gentler formulas though. The best of a bad bunch in the lease damaging kind of thing.

Chocolatetrifle · 04/01/2022 11:23

@heelforheelandtoefortoe, I'm 41 and going grey too, used to have highlighted hair but now box dye with Clairol Natural Instincts semi-permanent dye. Roots show after about 4 weeks, have to be careful not to over colour the bottom of your hair and you can just do the regrowth otherwise the bottom of your hair will end up too dark.

PrincessPorter · 04/01/2022 11:34

@heelforheelandtoefortoe is there anyone you live with who you can train to do hi lights? I'm prematurely grey and the upkeep on full head colour was just too much. Hi lights blends the grey in so regrowth is less noticeable. I generally go to a salon but had to train the kids to do it during lockdown.

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 04/01/2022 11:38

my husband maybe but I've never really had highlights before

My regime has been slightly curtailed by not having regular access to the bathroom (eldest has covid so he's using that, and the rest of us have quick showers but then use the downstairs loo for teeth brushing etc). Fingers crossed normal service returns next week (I fancy a soak in the bath and application of a lot of body lotion right now!)

PrincessPorter · 04/01/2022 11:42

I hadn't but it is easier upkeep. I'm naturally fairly dark brown but started greying in my twenties. I now wear it dark blonde/light brown with the aid of highlight s to blend the grey in (hairdressers advice) I just use cheap purple shampoo keep on top of colour between visits. FIL dyes MILs hair and is now a dab hand

PrincessPorter · 04/01/2022 11:57

Or get one of those root touch up sprays to go longer between dyes

Pegasussnail · 04/01/2022 14:33

Went for a walk this morning
Also took the dc for a treat (McDonald’s) but I just had a coffee.
Doing dry jan also
Bought a nice pink notebook today to write goals and achievements however small

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 04/01/2022 14:52

I’m similar to princessporter, my hair is medium/dark brown but I’ve been having blonde balayage put in every 3 months to blend in the grey hair that keeps coming through and then using a purple shampoo and conditioner to stop it looking brassy. It is expensive, I pay £120ish each time I go, but I think it is totally worth it.

I had a lovey bath yesterday and shaved my legs even though it’s winter, then blow dried and straightened my hair. Today I have styled hair, full face of make up and been on the sunbed. Took the dog for a walk but wasn’t out as long as I wanted to be as it was absolutely freezing and is drizzling with rain.

troppibambini6 · 04/01/2022 17:54

@AlDanvers hope today went ok

Today was the first day back for my 3 younger children. I'm a sham which makes it all too easy to just throw legging and a hoodie on.
I'm proud to report I managed make up, a bit of fake tan and blow dried hair (although a bit flat as I did it the night before Grin)

I wore my new cardi and boots rather than my same old trainers. I'm sure I could see how impressed the dog was when I walked him after school!

Back to fat club tomorrow to face the scales of doom am going to plan some nice healthy meals tonight.

Booksandwine80 · 04/01/2022 18:03

Checking in! Bought myself a new nude lipstick today, hoping to wear it every day! Currently supervising DD in the bath so have slapped on a face pack! Back to work and school tomorrow Smile

troppibambini6 · 04/01/2022 18:25

Sahm not sham Grin
Although sham is probably more appropriate at the mo!

AlDanvers · 04/01/2022 18:52

Today was OK. One day down....just 3 till the weekend.

The girls look quite dapper after their princessing. Though one is some sort of poodle Cross (not sure as she was a rescue) and we decided to have her short all over so she looks like a different dog and seems to be a bit "wtf have you done to me?' 🤣

@heelforheelandtoefortoe my hair is the same. I am 39 but been grey since my mud 20s. Unfortunately even at the salon mine come through fairly quickly. It grows really quick. When I did it at home it was like every 2-3 weeks. Root cover up is usually the best way to lengthen the time between dyes.

Going to have an early night again. Light some candles, read a book, get my skin care on. Have a nice chilled evening.

JourneyToHappiness · 04/01/2022 19:35

I'm a bit late but I'd like to join too please.
Think I need my whole life overhauling but style and beauty wise
• Lose 6-7 stone. Seems impossible, need to find a weight loss thread also.
• Drink more water. Only problem is I'm constantly on the loo, can't drink after 6pm ish otherwise I'm up several times in the night 😒
• Exercise. Start slowly, I'm so unfit and get back pain.
• Get my hair sorted, it's awful texture, my greys are coming through more rapidly and I've not seen a hair dresser in 3 years!
• try sort my skin out. I cleanse, use serums, moisturise and spf but my skin is crap. I get big spots around my jaw and chin, large pores and it's uneven.
• Attempt meditation/mindfulness.
• Use my stash of body creams and oils.
• Get teeth whitened.
• Try some beauty treatments. Never had any besides a lash lift twice, and on that note I'm wondering if anyone could offer some advice please. My lashes are poker straight and even go slightly downwards. The lash lift made a little difference, much better than without although didn't last long . Anyway I stopped after the second time as I noticed my lashes were getting sparse on one outer eye plus some lashes were now pointing in different directions. Would going to a different therapist make a difference? Do all therapists use the same stuff to curl the lashes? I'd like to try again as it did make a difference to my face.

JourneyToHappiness · 04/01/2022 19:41

Also another one here who went grey in her 20's. I'm 38 now and my usual box dye barely touches some of them. I think I might see about going lighter/blonde, natural hair is medium brown and currently dye it a darker brown so it will probably be a long expensive process!

ReginaaPhalange · 04/01/2022 20:04
