As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

Good luck @ReginaaPhalange! I was induced with dc1 too. Took I think a day and a half. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly (and quickly) FlowersCake

Henonthehill · 03/01/2022 09:02

Morning all! Hope everyone is keeping well and starting to feel the benefits of all this wonderful self care Flowers

@ReginaaPhalange - exciting times! Hope all goes well today and you have your little one in your arms very soon!

I've been easing into things, out for walks and started Yoga with Adriene, sticking to a skincare routine (although I'm using up what I have to hand, trying to figure out what I might purchase next) and drinking less coffee, more water. Today my goal is to reduce my screen time !

BreathingDeep · 03/01/2022 09:10

Oh you lovely folk - this is the thread I so badly needed.

I've had a wake up call with my health - I'm the heaviest, unfittest, unhealthiest I've ever been and to say it's making me miserable is an understatement. So, I will be:

Drinking more water - starting with 3 glasses a day and building up
Resuming a very low calorie diet - it's extreme but it works quickly and I know I need fast results to keep me focussed
Using the Peloton - I know I'm so lucky to have it but it's gathering dust and I need to get on the damned thing
Walking the dog - exercise, time alone, time devoted to listening to podcasts and getting outdoors so a quadruple win
Making effort with appearance every day - I work from home and it's too easy to just slip on harem pants, vest and a cardigan and hide behind a mask on the school run. I always feel better when I've made some effort but recently just can't be bothered.
Start some gentle yoga/stretching with Adrienne
Continue with 3 weekly nail appointments
Continue with 6 weekly hair appointments

Once the weight starts to move, I need to sort out clothes. My wardrobe is like a jumble sale. There are clothes from before my son was born. My son will be 21 this year.

I am so ready to be a better me, I'm sick and tired of this version.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 03/01/2022 09:15

I did a bedtime yoga last night and a morning meditation followed by a quick morning yoga stretch this morning (yoga with kassandra, so thank you to whoever recommended her videos - love her)

Not sure what plan is today - is anything open?? Weather is terrible and kids won't walk with me in the rain. Considering soft play...

ReginaaPhalange · 03/01/2022 09:21

Thank you all :)

@PrincessPorter I have some nice sanctuary body lotions etc here in my toiletry bag, so after each shower I've had here, I've been taking the time to apply it and make me feel pampered. I look like hell but if my skin is soft and my legs freshly shaved (I've been shaving them haha) then I feel a bit better - also less guilty when it comes to the internal examinations haha

Booksandwine80 · 03/01/2022 09:26

Morning all!

@ReginaaPhalange hope you’re doing ok!

I’m currently in the bath, hair mask on. Going to put some light make up on as just pottering around doing jobs at home today.

Have an appointment this week to get my gel nails redone-I’m a terrible picker of the skin around my nails, to the point where it bleeds Blush and having them done stops me. So i see it as a medical necessity Grin

tappitytaptap · 03/01/2022 09:26

Hello ladies, I'd like to join you all too please. I have a good skincare routine (after reading Caroline hirons skincare book last year - would recommend if anyone is looking for a good explanation of what to use for different skin types etc) but need to start eating a healthier diet, more water, more exercise. Could do with losing the 10/11 pounds excess I've put on! I've been having my nails gelled every 2-3 weeks for about 4 years now and love it, makes me feel more 'done'.

tappitytaptap · 03/01/2022 09:34

Oh and also taking supplements, iron for heavy periods/general tiredness, vitamin D and got some biotin coming.

tappitytaptap · 03/01/2022 09:37

Just reading a little more of the thread. I see lots of recommendations for yoga with Adrienne. Has anyone seen a Pilates equivalent? I've been recommended to try by a physio I saw for a slipped disc last year but never done it before so would need complete beginners!

troppibambini6 · 03/01/2022 09:52

Hi please may I join you?

I definitely need to carve some time out for myself and some self care.
I've put on weight over Xmas and if I'm honest I've never lost all the weight I put on after my last baby (who is 7 Blush).
I would like to
Eat healthier and lose weight
Drink more water
Actually remember to take the vitamins I have
More walking at least 10,000 steps
Wear my wardrobe instead of living in leggings and hoodies.
Get back on top of skincare and restart with my tret

I've had lots of dental work done this year so teeth not too bad. Nails are regularly done and I have Botox every few months so that's taken care of.

I'm rejoining slimming world on Wednesday.

PrincessPorter · 03/01/2022 09:52

Total respect on being supple enough to shave your own legs at 9 months gone!! @reginaaPhalange I am filling in my family planner for this year as my contribution this morning. I will get going again with Jane Plan and walking/moving more after all family events are over and everyone is back to school/work.

ReginaaPhalange · 03/01/2022 09:57

@PrincessPorter there's an accessibility bar on the bottom of the shower which is the perfect position for me to balance my leg on! Otherwise I'd be a yeti hahaha!

I'm not even pregnant and I think I'd find this useful Blush

DollyStardust · 03/01/2022 11:17

I use Dybrow to dye my lashes and lash perming kits for a lash lift. For lashes I also use KISS Falscara, so easy and quick to put on and the natural ones look great alone.

I'm getting my teeth professionally whitened soon but I've let my own Hydrogen Peroxide routine slip so doing that as we speak!

I've gained about 10 pounds since November on top of extra weight from summer so back to Keto with a vengeance for January. I don't get my nails done, instead I use Essie polish with Rimmel Gel top coat and get a good week out of that.

I got a hair voucher I will be using in 2 weeks when I've dropped a bit of bloat and a massage voucher.

I also bought this with my Xmas money and totally recommend
www.menkind.co.uk/shiatsu-neck-massager-with-arm-loops

I'll be picking pilates back up, walking more and using my Shakti mat.

Continuing with my Dermatica routine.

Chocolatetrifle · 03/01/2022 12:28

Good luck at @ReginaaPhalange, hope things start progressing for you. I was induced with DS1.

I invested time in myself last night after I got the two kids asleep, body scrub, lotion, face mask, filed nails etc, foot lotion with socks on. Has anyone seen those fabulous foot socks with the moisture you can get? I bulk buy on Amazon and they are fabulous. Cheaper obviously to just put cream on and a pair of socks bit sometimes we need a treat. I'm also following weight watchers now mixed with a low sugar and low carb diet

Hope you all have a good day.

Chocolatetrifle · 03/01/2022 12:29

Oh and green tea, a lot more green tea.

PatienceOfEngels · 03/01/2022 12:42

Day 3 and have managed to cut my evening snacking so far.

YWA restarted yesterday (I may do a non-Move routine tomorrow as it's annoying she doesn't post the new video till 10am UK time every day).
That's my essentials done.

Bonus self-care:
-post shower body lotion
-Got some time outside (saw a red squirrel)

On the to do list for today:
-No snacking this evening
-A short walk with a podcast later
-cup of tea outside in the garden later (as long as it's not raining)
--stay off the snacks this evening.
-quick tidy up and tick off a few admin tasks
-Do at least an hour studying

I know the last few aren't strictly princes sing but keeping the house in order and on top of my to do list does me the world of good.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 03/01/2022 19:16

I had a clothes cull yesterday and drove around today until I could find a Salvation Army clothes bin with space in it as I wanted the clothes out of the house in case I changed my mind. Am only going to wear clothes that are flattering in colour and shape.
I had a sort out of all my make-up today, threw out a lot of old stuff.
My hair has lost its colour with age ( I’m 59 ) it looks bleached blonde as opposed to grey but it means I can look quite washed out ( I dye my eyebrows to give my face definition )
I’ve decided that Joanna Lumley is going to be my inspiration ( not when she’s playing Patsy, lol ) and I’m going to try a smokey eye and brighter lipstick.
Am also doing well on drinking more water.
It’s inspiring to hear how everyone else is doing.

SocksAndTheCity · 03/01/2022 20:26

I was horrendously stiff after the gym visit yesterday so I didn't go today, but I have a stretch class first thing in the morning and I'm going to do yoga before bed.

I did have a bath with some nice bath oil and touched up my toenails with polish; I'm sticking with the Sunday Riley oils I got in the advent calendar/GWP but now I'm worrying about them running out.

1positivity · 03/01/2022 21:11

I've put some hair oil on for overnight tonight so I'll have the benefit of silky hair tomorrow but also I know I'll definitely get my morning shower in as I'll have to wash the oil out.

Face toner and oiled also with some eye cream.

AlDanvers · 03/01/2022 21:20

I am tucked up in bed.

Used Sunday Reily Juno with the Creme de la mer, I got in the Space nk calandar. Its nor a night cream, but I find d ot a bit thick for day time.

I also sorted out my lotions and potions drawer. I got a fairly large GWP in November and had 2 Advent calendars so loads of small bits to get through. Determind to not buy any skin care until that runs out.

I have a decent stock of things that should last me a good few months. If not until next year.

snackodactyl · 03/01/2022 21:24

yes please!

i’ve worked a lot of good habits into my routine and stepped up the appearance effort with:

  • trying a hairstyle that isn’t a scraped back ponytail
  • wearing the nice clothes instead of saving them
  • makeup in the mornings
  • nu face mini routine

need to:

  • up my water intake and start planning cleaner dinners
  • get back in the gym after recovering from mystery health issue

i’ve bought a slendertone belt to help wake up abs that have been sleeping post c-section for 9 years.

AlDanvers · 04/01/2022 06:06

First day working today. Dreading it.

But got up, put the Phillip Kingsley conditioner on, that mum got me and a the sister black orchid face mask from the Space NK calandar on. Used a new face wash from my stash. The medic8 radiance cleaner. Slapped on a serum and the last of the drunk elephant moisturiser I have.

I have thrown the fortuna eye cream, that was in the feel unique calandar. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and thought my eyes looked shit because of all the crying. Last night I used a make up revolution night eye cream and a CT wonder eye cream (again from a calandar Grin) this morning and they look so much better. That eye cream didn't really appear to do much.

I have put on a lounge suit that dd got me for Christmas and done my hair. Going to put a bit of make up on too. I am wfh but want to keep up with it.

My 2 lovely dogs are going for a princessing this morning too Grin

Methenyouplus4 · 04/01/2022 06:21

Love reading all the updates on here.

@CaptainMal can I ask which LRP eye cream you use please?

Been doing well here overall, not ticking every box on my list most of them, but about 85% most days. Not really had the need to plan outfits etc as just been at home/walking etc mainly. Back at work tomorrow so going to plan in advance.

Those struggling with multi-vits, I find keeping mine by my toothbrush helps.

Methenyouplus4 · 04/01/2022 06:25

@AlDanvers just want to send a hug. Work might prove to be a distraction for a few hours at least.
