WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp Nov 2007, WEEK FOUR

WideWebWitch · 18/11/2007 21:59

This is week 4 of the ninth WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's autumn
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Good luck www
I am hungover and off to bed

DollyPopsOut · 19/11/2007 00:02

Just checking in briefly.

Good luck tomorrow WWW. Hope it goes really well.

Will make real effort to stick to plan this week. Good fun this weekend and now off for water, healthy food and NO BOOZE (my achilles heel over the last 2 weeks)

Hope everyone had a top weekend.

tortoiseSHELL · 19/11/2007 00:06

yes, good luck www!

arfishy · 19/11/2007 06:23

Good luck for tomorrow (today?) WWW.

Am back from my weekend away. I went to see my friend's amazing new house that has - wait for it - a playroom downstairs with a video link to the huge open-plan kitchen (on the upper level)). And an adventure playground (trampoline, swings, cubby house, hammocks). It's the most amazing house I've ever seen. Her husband built it. Sunken baths, lighting that turns on when you walk through rooms and corridors, if she wasn't so nice I would have imploded with envy.

Anyhoo. The weekend involved wine, champagne and sambuca, lots of food (mmmmm brie). I don't think one extra spin class is going to cover it.

And I had my flabby body out in a bikini (I thought if I got into the pool before everybody else got up I'd make DD happy without humiliation. Unfortunately everybody got up ridiculously early and caught me out).

I will send Evil Victoria (TM) everybody's love.

bamamama · 19/11/2007 06:33

WWW - good luck!

FIS - first day today? Good luck too!

arfishy - that house sounds great although is it the type of lighting that switches itself off when you're just sitting on the sofa and you end up endlessly waving at the sensors (I hope so )
Feeling and being good today. Been out for a bike ride in the sunshine and have already had my water intake for the day. Let's hope I can keep the momentum up for the rest of the week.

Hope Monday is good to you all.

Hope that the interview went well today WWW

I have back-slid - no gym today - went for a coffee in M&S instead, so didn't even cross the threshold of the gym.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/11/2007 17:10

lol @ arfishy. The house sounds divine. I visited a friends new house last week and am still suffering 'big aga envy' - was bigger than mine and she had the companion thingy!

www - how did it go?

I walked/jogged 2 miles this morning, about half & half and it felt good. No sciatica for a couple of days. Then I had a lovely shower/hair wash/moisturising session before 12pm pre-school pick-up. And I've done my nails!

I've eaten cheese scone, apple, smoked salmon sandwich and a handful of squishy 'dried' fruits. Lots of orange squash. I'm in the middle of making sausage, mash, mixed veg & onion gravy for dinner. There's a tarte Tatin lurking in the freezer so I may get that out. To warm the children of course.

WideWebWitch · 19/11/2007 20:57

Hello all

The interview went well, I think, it was an hour and 15 so definitely not diabolical. But hey, I've done a LOT of interviews recently and not got them so I'll assume I haven't got it unless I hear otherwise.

Crap day bootcamp wise, tried driving into work, but after THREE hours where I took a wrong turn at Ealing (long story but had to come off to go for a wee so ended up taking circuitous route via Hillingdon/Southall/Uxbridge Rd) I found myself inexplicably going the WRONG way along the A40 due to crap diversion sign so I gave up and came home, realising I'd condemned myself to at LEAST another hour, even if I HAD taken the next junction off and gone back the right way. Boss v understanding. Was only going to stay til 2.30 anyway today due to interview so it really really wasn't worth going in at that point.

It was a bit of a tours of births/marriages as I went past Ealing hospital, where my midwives for ds were based, Daniels of Ealing, where I bought his first pram, and Ealing register office, where I married dh#1. So a nostalgic, if long, journey! But fking hell, I wouldn't have got up at 5.50am if I'd have known I would drive for 3 hours then drive back again for another 1.5 hours. Ho hum, oh well, I'm feeling cheerful anyway. So:

100g granola, eaten on the Uxbridge Rd
bacon sandwich made for me by dh when I got home at 11.30 - he was at home with dd, who has tonsilitis
ham and rocket sandwich
apple
poussin
dark chocolate
not enough water
a sleep from 12-2pm, nice!
a bit of popcorn

Hmm, not enough fruit and veg
No wine, second day running
Will be in bed by 10.30

Will read the rest of you now!

Marina, HUNGOVER? On a Sunday night? How so? I hope you're feeling better today.

Dollypops, well done if you managed no booze. I find it tough but I am pretty much used to it now, on week 4 - in fact I've only had one lapse over the past 3 weeks but other than that haven't been drinking Sunday to Thursday and I do feel (and look) better for it

Arfy, wow at friend's house, and get you, wearing a bikini, bet you looked fab due to EV.

Bama, glad you're feeling good today.

Batters, well done on restrained weekend. Why do you think it was, if you don't mind my asking? Are you getting into good habits or is it something else?

Iota, ewww at your name, assume it's a pisstake due to another thread? At least it was only coffee in M&S, hey. confess if not!

dofN, yet again you, a pregnant woman, are putting some of us to shame, 2 miles indeed, well done. lol at Aga envy. Where is everyone else?

OP posts:
cerys · 19/11/2007 21:09

I just ate egg, beans and chips for tea. Chips were from the chip shop too. Shall I get my coat?

I did buy some more Clarins Beauty Flash today with my Boots points. God forbid I ever wear as much make up as the lady behind the counter

unknownrebelbang · 19/11/2007 21:23

Arfishy the house sounds fabulous.

Fingers crossed www.

I've not dared weigh myself today, but after a few days being a bit careless about what I eat, I'm trying to get back on track today.

Sunscreen - yes.
No booze
1 hr on the bike.
Lots of water/weak tea.
Apply body cream as often as possible - nah but I don't feel the need tbh.
Use hand cream/foot cream too - yes.
Go to bed early, by 10.15 last night I think. Quite proud of myself!
Eat healthily - not too bad today, plenty of fruit.
Be happy - well I will be when I can shake this cough and the boys are better. DS2 has an infection in his leg which he's just finishing a course of antibiotics for, and he's got to go back to the gp because he's now got a lump in his groin. DS3 has shared my cough. DS1 was offside last week and DH is out of sorts, but we think (hope) that's just the shifts.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/11/2007 21:25

lol @ cerys getting her coat. Was the Clarins lady as orange as Judith Chalmers?

www - urgh at todays journey, no wonder you needed a nap! Fingers crossed that you get job offer. XX

Pre-school gave me a huge cheque for about 3 months worth of expenses today. I'm going to blow the lot at Estee Lauder/Chanel make-up counters later in the week. No point buying clothes, so I may as well invest in my face! I am going through moisturiser at an alarming pace at the moment because of my dry skin.

www - that journey was really cr@p.

You must try the overground route from Watford Junction - MrsS has suggested it as well - it can't possibly be worse than Monday.

OK coffee in M&S yesterday did include a mince pie as well - and it was luvverly mmmmmmmmm

Today I am going to get rid of old clothes and toys before my house explodes - I'm sure the walls are bulging already. Maybe that will burn a few calories.

So pleased that you love my sophisticated new name

prufrock · 20/11/2007 15:34

I was very good yesterday - went to gym in the morning, ate healthily. Then at 1:30 am I was woken by the first of dd's 8 vomits of the night. So today I feel crap from lack of sleep, have been so busy washing and looking after dd that I haven't even taken the dogs for a walk, and I'm comfort eating, coffee drinking and poorly child cuddling.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 20/11/2007 19:11

Oh pru I hope your DD1 gets over it quickly, poor thing. Early night if you can. Is DH still away?

Rainy walk with dog this morning, not very long, but I did spend ages mucking out this afternoon, that's more than enough exercise! I have eaten a bowl of Frosties, cheese & crackers & fruit for lunch, lots of different dried fruits (now have terrible wind ) and chilli & pitta bread.

I had my scan this afternoon. Baby looks good! Has all it's limbs and brains and everything and the nuchal risk wasn't bad for an old bat either. It all seems very real now!

moonshine · 20/11/2007 19:14

Hello all - am reporting in. Dcs are on the mend but are back in battle mode, so I don't know what's worse. There seems to be lots of ill dcs on here atm so sympathies to you all.

I had a strict (ish) week last week, a completely indulgent weekend but I did (drumroll please) join and go to the gym on Sunday, which really seemed to counterbalance a lot as I have lost 4lbs. Would love to go 3/4 times a week but it all depends on work commitments and dh being able to do the school-run (I have big plans to go some mornings before work).

Everyone complimented me on my haircut this week (but didn't notice last week ) and I have decided I like it because it a) doesn't need washing every day and keeps still keeps its shape b) is easily styled and c)covers some of my wrinkled brow.

Arfishy - I haven't even owned a bikini since I was 6!

WWW - sounds promising - I live very near to all these places you are getting lost in and I also bought some of my first baby gear in Daniels - ah memories.

Marina - is that Nick Lowe (the Stiff records bloke?). Didn't he do a really mainstream song (I love the Sound of Breaking Glass) or have I missed something in the lyrics??

Back to tough bootcamp for me - I really need my coat to button up now!

WideWebWitch · 20/11/2007 20:34

Cerys at chips!

unknownrelbang, sorry you're all ill, I hope you're better soon. Impressive on the bike, early night and no booze fronts, well done

DofN, niiiice, 3 months worth, do let us vicariously experience the things you buy won't you?

Batters, thanks for that insight, yes, me too re restaurants etc. And we both love Champagne don't we? it is lovely though, my friend and I used to refer to it as "a little pick me up" - after work she would say "fancy a little pick me up?" meaning bubbly. Them was the days when I could drink all night, dance til 3am, and STILL be fresh as a daisy for work at 8am. Ewww at the thought now.

Prufrock, oh I hope your dd is better soon, poor thing. Don't blame you on the comfort eating

Ah DofN, how lovely, that's great news. Wow, a baby,

Moonshine, well done on joining the gym! And the 4lb. And the haircut! Daniels is a funny shop isn't it, it's from the past and very old fashioned but sweet in its way. Are you in Ealing then? (don't say if you don't want to!) I lived in South Ealing with dh#1 when ds was first born and spent most of the time I lived in London (before ds) in west London: Olympia, West Ken, Earls Court, Barons Court, Notting Hill, Lancaster Gate. Some mornings on the tube I have an urge to get out at Lancaster Gate and go and look at Gloucester Terrace, where I lived when pregnant with ds...it was a lovely flat...

So, we're a bit thin on the ground I think aren't we? Where IS everyone?

OP posts:
Marina · 20/11/2007 20:37

This week I am mostly bent double with cystitis, so...
lots of running from the loo and back
LOTS of water
No appetite even for chip shop chips

Hope all under the yoke of puke are restored to normality soon
Any news on job www?

tortoiseSHELL · 20/11/2007 20:37

Hi all, am here, but am totally pissed off - I have just wasted 2 hours of my life sitting in the car, trying to drive 2.5 miles, I left over half an hour to do it, an hour and a half later still hadn't arrived, and the rehearsal I was going to had finished. So I turned round and came home. So annoyed - I HATE our useless stupid traffic system and complete lack of public transport. It is getting worse daily and our stupid f*ing council does NOTHING about it.

Marina · 20/11/2007 20:39

Moonshine, that's him. Songs are great, he is a huge underrated talent IMO, but what a boozer and smoker he was in his Stiff days...so to get skincare from his namesake seems terrifying somehow
Mind you, Hang Wangford was the alter ego of a gynaecologist

WideWebWitch · 20/11/2007 20:39

Today

100g granola! Of course!
2 apples
chese and mango chutney sandwich
2 hazelnut and sultana bars
few walnuts and brazils
and then at work at about 4I started itching like mad and my eyelids got a bit red and swollen so I wonder if I was allergic slightly to one of the nut bars? There were 2 different types, one a seeds of change, one a Tesco own organic, anyway, the itching's fading now so that's nice. Or maybe it was heat rash but I SO didn't want to say "is it me or is it hot in here" being as I am very likely peri menopausal and not wanting to draw attention to it

Came home and washed hair, took off make up, had
2 pieces toast
2 egg omelette with red peppers, tomotoes, rocket and balsamic vinegar
water

no wine, of course, for third night in a row.

And will be in bed by 10pm, dd came in at 4am and I didn't really get back to sleep so I am KNACKERED.
