What instantly ages?

Whether that be clothing or cosmetics, I'm interested to hear your opinions. I have a few of my own thoughts on this, though I could be way off the mark.

Am in need of a boost and think I might be unwittingly ageing myself before my time.

Thanks.

It’s all about attitude IMO, I think not having any contemporary references is ageing, eg: not knowing who some famous rappers or you-tubers are.
Well, that’s my observation from my two teenagers, who never seem arsed about my clothes, makeup or hair but it’s eye rolls all round & ‘you’re such a boomer mum’ if I say ‘who’s he?’ in relation to Aitch or Jake Paul Hmm

MaelyssQ I've been one of them! It's a combination of good genes and not sunbathing. Or, wearing factor 50. Moisturizing every day. Nothing else.

@Janegrey333

There is often an emphasis on ‘showing your figure’ on here, especially for more formal occasions. It’s perfectly possible to look stylish (even youthful!) in styles that aren’t traditionally flattering.

Yes! This party dress by Cos is lovely and not at all clingy.

I would literally look like a sparkly sack of spuds in that dress.

My comment about necklines goes for any age. I've never been able to wear a V neck because I've got a long face, the v neck just makes it look longer 😂 and I look ridiculous so getting the right neck for my face shape = instant improvement.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 03/01/2021 20:36

And don't forget that we've already been told that sparkly shit on us makes us look old. As does not sparkly shit.

What's wrong with Kitten heels and glasses?

And are fat arms ok but stomachs not?

Not because of your wrinkly tattoos then?

I bet you get funny looks in Waitrose

Nudity is illegal in most places in the UK.
That factor 50 better be protecting the delicate bits well.

NiceGerbil · 03/01/2021 20:44

What about those comedy Groucho marx glasses with eyebrows and moustache attached?

Yes or no?

TwirlingTwizzler · 03/01/2021 20:46

@UsernameSaved

You're not funny.

MaelyssQ · 03/01/2021 20:49

@NiceGerbil if I saw you wearing comedy specs with attached moustache, I would immediately assume you were extremely youthful and if I owned a pub, and pubs were open, I would refuse to serve you.
Obviously you have to wear Factor 50 along with the comedy specs for full youthful effect.

Don't need them.

The salons are all closed for lockdown.

Maireas · 03/01/2021 20:51

@NiceGerbil - yes. The moustache will do instead of lip fillers.

Too much black clothing

SquarePeggyLeggy · 03/01/2021 20:54

Sun damage.
I am am 40 and thin. Pigmentation and my neck has become stringy. I don’t know how else to describe it. Very visible neck tendons. It’s recently happened and I look so much older. Eye bags.

Maireas · 03/01/2021 20:55

@NeverDropYour MoonCup - I think it's a way forward for many of us who are irredeemably aged. Saves us wearing a sack over our heads and ringing a bell to warn of our presence in public.

NiceGerbil · 03/01/2021 20:58

Maelyss 🤣🤣🤣

Careful, you will be told that you are not funny

You are only allowed to comment if it is to gloat about how you are superior and haven't aged a jot.

Destinysdaughter · 03/01/2021 21:01

You young uns, just wait till you go through the menopause and your sex drive falls off a cliff! You'll be happy to wear fleeces and
' mum boots ' ( whatever the hell they are ).

All you will have to look forward to is a life of knitting, The Archers and hot.fushes

Mwah haha 😂😂😂

Destinysdaughter · 03/01/2021 21:03

Flushes!!!

TwirlingTwizzler · 03/01/2021 21:06

Can I ask, are Ugg boots ok for us over 50 Oldies with freezing feet? Or should we get in the bin for suggesting it?

Humph Uggs and fleeces Grin
