I cannot bare her group anymore so I left, it's all a bit of an echo chamber these days.

I find her virtue signalling under the guise of 'doing what's right' nauseating, I've cancelled her book and won't ever read anything she writes again.

She says she supports women's rights but only if it suits her agenda.

And one poser asked CH which she'd rather her buy, a hard copy or on audible Confused

GrimDamnFanjo · 24/06/2020 14:59

I'm curious about the book but not enough to buy it and I don't think all the criticisms about her looks are very fair. She just proves the point that you can't control a lot about your skin without serious intervention.
Almost all beauty influencers are basically shills for the industry.
It's very difficult to find any honesty in the industry.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 24/06/2020 19:40

I was in the group and massively caught up in the hype of the Winter Kit. Barely used the products, skin had a massive reaction and I gave everything away including the bag. I’m back to my super minimal skincare now and I’m constantly being asked what I use.

I still follow on her IG but I don’t know why actually

cloud1183 · 24/06/2020 21:50

It’s all the shouty, political stuff that’s put me off her. She’s also very bitchy and doesn’t practice what she preaches. If she kept it to skincare then I would follow her

MrsKingfisher · 26/06/2020 10:57

She has a bloody advert on TV now for her book..I was hoping she'd go away.

I was shocked at the items she was selling in her store last night. Almost £10 to ship via DPD - the smallest little box of capsules you've ever seen

I knew of CH but only really started paying any attention to her during lockdown as her Instagram lives popped up and I’ve watched a few for the comedy value rather than looking for recommendations. She does come across as quite abrasive but I just sort of thought that’s how she is, fine, quite entertaining. Interesting that some posters have said that she seemed lovely years ago. I’ve met Sali Hughes a couple of times and she was really lovely but I’ve noticed a certain bluntness, sometimes quite rude tone in some of her responses in social media.

I wonder if all these years on social media has made them change how they act or make them more defensive? It must take its toll to constantly have to deal with comments and questions from people online, especially when offensive stuff is posted.

Not defending either really, I just think it’s interesting as thinking about how almost all the influencer type people I’ve followed for a long time have changed their tone in one way or another over the years. Some of it is obviously as they’ve become more professional and/or turned their Instagram etc into their main income stream but I also notice that there are those who have very much ‘toughened up’ and have adopted a ‘don’t mess with me’ persona and then those who take a bit of an apologetic approach, overly explaining everything, trying not to offend anyone with anything.

Must mess with your head having all those followers to please!

I find it funny that people have slagged CH off on here for being shouty and opinionated, yet chose to express the same opinions on an online forum.
Slagging off people with damaged skin on her group and CH's age is pretty vile. If you don't like her, then don't follow her. `
No ones forcing you to hate someone you don't know.
If you don't want to buy her book then don't buy it.
🙄

I think you've missed the point, this isn't about her skin or her age it's about her vile treatment of JK Rowling and her hopping on every bandwagon and generally being an unpleasant person. Are you in her group by any chance? Hmm
OP posts:
LongDiscoClara · 27/06/2020 17:38

I don't think being political is a bandwagon? Are people in the public eye not supposed to have an opinion? Or are they just supposed to be nice and polite and shit up about things like a good woman.

I despair at Mumsnet at times, what about being a supportive of a woman doing well for herself? See if I don't like someone, I maybe tell my pal, or mention it in passing if it comes up in conversation. I don't go on the internet and drag up anything they've ever done that i've disagreed with. There are two sides to the JK thing as well. I haven't missed the point and as much as I'm in support of sex protected spaces, she's allowed to have her opinion on it.
And I am in her group, big wow! It's a skincare group and there's loads of good advice on it. Meh. Take the raised eyebrow if you want. I really don't care.

Bellablahhole · 27/06/2020 17:56

I haven't just stepped away, I've severed all ties. Her treatment of JK Rowling disgusts me.

Lottapianos · 27/06/2020 18:31

'I don't think being political is a bandwagon'

I think the bandwagon accusation is because she is showing interest in things she has never mentioned before, like Black Lives Matter.

ChipstickCharlie · 27/06/2020 19:07

Being political isn't a bandwagon you're right. After all, if you don't do politics then you don't really do anything. Politics is weaved into everything we do

Im more talking about her sticking her nose into everything controversial, topical, or just for attention. She wades into things that aren't her business and I've seen it time after time. I know her personally from a business point of view and she's abrasive and rather unpleasant about her followers so just bear that in mind if you're a slavish devotee

MrsKingfisher · 27/06/2020 19:59

Just like she was to JK when she called her a fucking twat. CH isn't about anything other than herself and her sales.

I think she looks pretty good and her skin is great.

But why are all her insta posts so long?

ChipstickCharlie · 28/06/2020 18:42

I did have a small lol at her Instagram stories today. She's shared the Voltaire quote ' if you want to know who controls you, look at who you are not allowed to criticise.'

I actually wouldn't be surprised if she's sharing that as some sort of subliminal message to her followers Grin

stellakent · 28/06/2020 18:57

ChipstickCharlie that's interesting. Someone dared disagree with the Freaks on Facebook the other night and within moments the nastiness and swearing was shocking. There is a cult like mentality which has evolved with Caroline as the untouchable goddess. All out of skincare. Bizarre.

WowStarsWow · 29/06/2020 09:56

I have never been a follower of CH but I know of her and her reputation. I expect the members of the skincare group have quite a vested interest in her, as she is the reason they have spent £££ on skincare they probably didn’t need (instead of seeing or following an actual dermatologist, of which there are plenty on social media). They would rather double down on supporting CH in whatever she does, than admit to themselves that they followed her in the first place, took all her advice and wasted loads of their own money. Hence the cultlike defence of her. Sad really.

PersonaNonGarter · 29/06/2020 11:09

One thing is pretty clear. She does not read Voltaire of an evening.

ChipstickCharlie · 29/06/2020 12:16

Oh my god are you joking 😂 so ironic
ChipstickCharlie · 29/06/2020 13:12

Not a hint of irony I swear @PhreshOffTheRunway !

But who could she be referring to if not herself? Answers on a postcard
