Has anyone else stepped away from Cult Hirons?

I cannot bare her group anymore so I left, it's all a bit of an echo chamber these days.

I find her virtue signalling under the guise of 'doing what's right' nauseating, I've cancelled her book and won't ever read anything she writes again.

She says she supports women's rights but only if it suits her agenda.

OP posts:
MintJuleps · 17/06/2020 09:37

There is a post in the group this morning from a woman who has 'broken her barrier.' She then lists out god knows how many harsh products she's using on her skin.

Why don't people just say it as it is? She's putting too much shit on her face. That's the long and short of it

suze28 · 17/06/2020 09:41

@MintJuleps I saw that post and thought the same. I rarely post in that group as they all love the £££ brands which I don't have experience of. It's Korean hydration and CeraVe here for me.

janet1267 · 17/06/2020 09:58

Mint juleps I saw that too. Some of these women are destroying their skin (and possibly their bank balances) with the amount of products they are using.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 17/06/2020 10:02

She is hard as nails and her recent comments turned me completely off. Her skin look awful and mine looks far better and I use virtually nothing so i ignore the whole thing anyway

woodhill · 17/06/2020 13:07

Dr Nick Lowe used to do products for boots and his skincare advice was good.

PhreshOffTheRunway · 17/06/2020 13:35

@MintJuleps Oh wow, to be fair I haven't seen Caroline ever talk about "breaking your skin barrier" as something you should aim for?

Anyway, people shouldn't use that group for skincare advice honestly... it's not like you get answers from qualified people? I mentioned in another thread that Skincare Addiction on Reddit is actually much more informative and scientific.

withlotsoflove · 17/06/2020 14:05

I’ve just left!
It is honestly a cult!

withlotsoflove · 17/06/2020 14:08

@MintJuleps
They actually sound scared to have an independent thought...
I’ve tried explaining a different point of view just today - and was met with the most vicious response!
I guess nobody wants to be the first to stop clapping!

PhreshOffTheRunway · 17/06/2020 15:03

@withlotsoflove

I’ve just left! It is honestly a cult!
Good for you!

I think they're going to lose a lot of people now they've gone full personality cult.

I preordered the book a few months ago but will be returning once I get it.

MintJuleps · 17/06/2020 15:20

I don't think they'll lose too many. You can't move in the group without falling over people keen to be noticed by her. I cringe myself inside out when they refer to her as 'my queen' and I particularly dislike the way CH decided she's against a brand all of a sudden (think Drunk Elephant) and the 'freaks' will not only no longer purchase it but they'll stop using the products they've just spent a fortune on. All because their queen had had a fall out with the brand.

Railingsohno · 17/06/2020 15:34

Cringing at Our Queen comments. Get some self respect people! And some perspective. It’s skincare! Grin

Lottapianos · 17/06/2020 15:54

'particularly dislike the way CH decided she's against a brand all of a sudden (think Drunk Elephant) and the 'freaks' will not only no longer purchase it but they'll stop using the products they've just spent a fortune on'

Seriously?! It sounds like the playground. She does have a very strong 'Queen Bee' type personality so I guess that inspires slavish devotion in some. Sounds bonkers

Stellakent · 21/06/2020 08:18

I've just been reading her outbursts about Amazon delaying distribution of her book. She really is appalling and the cult like adoration of her fans is unbelievable. People distressed and swearing about Amazon because they might have to wait a little longer for her book. It's religion in a modern form.

MintyJones · 21/06/2020 09:31

@Stellakent it is. And she does absolutely nothing to quell it. Honestly, a straightforward error by amazon that's put right with the words 'the book will still be with you by such and such a date' and they're up in arms!

And don't get me started on the post in there grandly calling for people to boycott amazon.

Lottapianos · 21/06/2020 09:58

I saw that shes a guest on the Emma Guns podcast. Emma posted on IG about it saying something like 'do you fancy 90 minutes of pure unfiltered Caroline Hirons?'. Made me think of this group Grin listen if you fancy raising your blood pressure!

buckeejit · 21/06/2020 10:22

When I got into her a few years ago the cheat sheets & double cleanser advice were great, but then I bought one of her cult beauty boxes with some lovely products but a ££££ pot of blue tansy balm that was shit & useless.

Sali Hughes seems v nice & I love her GTL group on fb. I also like Nadine Baggott.

Love the Aldi caviar cream-especially the night one.

Also from a recent rec on here someone had recommended a one minute cleanse with fingertips & this had made a difference to me in a week - brought some milia spots out-something I have terrible trouble with.

I'll defend JKR to the hilt too! Wink

MrDarcysMa · 21/06/2020 12:27

I used to be a fan but she is just so aggressive, I can't watch her videos any more.
I also struggle to take ageing skincare advice from people who have botox and fillers, so I do not use CH and Sali Hughes any more, sadly.

MintyJones · 21/06/2020 15:45

Oh my god the posts on there about this bloody book. Insane. They're literally all mad.

StellaRockafella · 21/06/2020 15:54

I stepped away about 3 or 4 years ago when I realised she was only in it for the money and freebies. Not regretted it at all and my bank balance is much happier.

I do think her cheat sheets are excellent though, and do recommend them but anything else, no, I don’t think she’s impartial about anything product wise. Also, given what she said re. JK Rowling, just wow. How ignorant.

Lottapianos · 21/06/2020 16:30

'I do think her cheat sheets are excellent though'

I agree - she's very good on method and routine, but the products she recommends are just insanely expensive

RonaldMcDonald · 21/06/2020 16:37

Maybe her skin is the best it can be given the genetics she was handed and whatever she did prior to knowing about skincare?
I had acne and had it lasered and peeled and now it is barely noticeable
I use both fillers and botox and Retin A regularly but sparingly
Most people are amazed at my lovely glowing skin but it was terrible for ages and I’ve had £££ of help to improve it.

I think it is okay to have had really shit skin and to have improved it. As for CH I prefer Trinny to her. If CH is making the best of what she has good on her. I just don’t like her style.
Trinny uses all sorts of brands and is clear about what she had had done externally to help in addition . I am not as rough with my skin as she is but I understand her feeling the need as she too had acne and it can be a hangover from those days.

MrsKingfisher · 22/06/2020 18:25

Seems there maybe dissension amongst the Hironites..friend told me today that someone put a post up regarding the BS calling them out etc and there were many many people who agreed..unsurprisingly it has been deleted now apparently.

It's ok for people to call for boycotting Drunk Elephant and talk about anything but skincare but write a truthful post about her best buds the Bodyshop and zip away it goes.

She is something else.

OP posts:
ChipstickCharlie · 22/06/2020 19:09

I saw the BS shop and didn't think it would last. It is truthful though. But she can't allow it to stay because that's a conflict of interest for her. She also allows posts of Tropic and Temple Spa, both of which are MLMs. Which she states in her guidelines won't be tolerated

headhurtstoomuch · 22/06/2020 20:12

@MrsKingfisher - why did she want people to boycott Drunk Elephant? Just being nosy ...

MrsNoah2020 · 22/06/2020 20:16

The cult-like stuff must put off many customers. It makes me absolutely cringe - reminds me of bullies at school and the cowards who sucked up to them for protection. It's embarrassing to see women my own age acting that way. Even if I loved CH's look, it would make me run a mile.
