I cannot bare her group anymore so I left, it's all a bit of an echo chamber these days.

I find her virtue signalling under the guise of 'doing what's right' nauseating, I've cancelled her book and won't ever read anything she writes again.

She says she supports women's rights but only if it suits her agenda.

OP posts:
DubaiDublin73 · 22/06/2020 20:39

She gave an unfavorable opinion on a DE product and one of their PR guys was very unprofessional when asked about it. She wasn't vicious, just said what she thought. Damn that pesky woman being truthful.

ChipstickCharlie · 22/06/2020 21:02

She wasn't being vicious? Oh I dunno. She went on and on and on and on and on about it over on Instagram. So affronted that someone had dared to bite back at her for once

Lottapianos · 22/06/2020 21:39

'It makes me absolutely cringe - reminds me of bullies at school and the cowards who sucked up to them for protection'

Yes, that's exactly it. Playground nonsense Hmm

cloud1183 · 22/06/2020 21:44

She’s going mad now at Susan Yara. Whipping her cult up into a rabid frenzy and unleashing them on Susan. Caroline is a really nasty piece of work ans is getting worse

ChipstickCharlie · 22/06/2020 22:00

I saw the Susan thing too.

I'm just not sure it's something to get massively worked up about? But CH will be moving on from BLM now, just like she did with calling out brands relentlessly just prior to lockdown, and she will need a new bandwagon to hop onto. Might as well be some woman who most people won't have heard of who's fudged the fact she's the owner of a skincare brand. Yes that's worthy of berating that's for sure but CH will go on and on about it until the next bandwagon rolls around.

PhreshOffTheRunway · 22/06/2020 22:59

@MrsKingfisher

Seems there maybe dissension amongst the Hironites..friend told me today that someone put a post up regarding the BS calling them out etc and there were many many people who agreed..unsurprisingly it has been deleted now apparently.

It's ok for people to call for boycotting Drunk Elephant and talk about anything but skincare but write a truthful post about her best buds the Bodyshop and zip away it goes.

She is something else.

I posted about the Body Shop and got kicked from the group for it... but this was a couple of weeks ago.

No loss to me lol.

Heygirlheyboy · 23/06/2020 00:55

Isn't it funny, I've been giving it a wide berth for the same reasons and the sycophants don't help!!

Muminabun · 23/06/2020 10:36

I quite like ch but her recommendations are too expensive and also I don’t think it is really realistic for me to apply so so many products to my face twice a day and for this to take so long. I found I was fiddling around so much that my skin was getting sensitive. I cleanse tone and moisturise using simple products and my skin is good and not sensitive anymore. I do think that her stance on trans ideology has also put me off her as it does show a lack of common sense and intellect.

Custardcreamies101 · 23/06/2020 13:15

What did she say about Susan yara ?

TornadoOfSouls · 23/06/2020 17:11

I think she used to be much more moderate. It was good when she was encouraging people to stop using wipes and harsh foaming washes. But her manner has always been unpleasant and it’s become more so. I suspect she may be/have been self-conscious about her lack of actual qualifications and she has built an abrasive, know-it-all facade to compensate.

Apossibility84 · 23/06/2020 17:15

Is she was teaching my children - i would care

Seeing as she does video and articles skincare that works for me... I don’t give a damn about what she says or does beyond those videos and articles!

Lottapianos · 23/06/2020 17:18

'I suspect she may be/have been self-conscious about her lack of actual qualifications and she has built an abrasive, know-it-all facade to compensate.'

I agree. I listened to her recent podcast with Emma Guns and shes so abrasive - litte thought or reflection, knee jerk responses to every question, lots of fronting up ('I dont give a shit' was repeated many times), labouring the point that she chose not to go to university and 'doesn't give a shit' what anyone thinks of that. Um, okay 🤷‍♀️

Emma G asked her how she felt about her first book coming out and to paraphrase, the answer was a moan about Amazon, she doesn't really care, shes already moved on to the next thing, and she'll never write another book again. So that's nice Hmm

It was a challenging listen. Shes stressful company Grin

Enderthedragon · 23/06/2020 17:24

She hates Mumsnet since everyone turned on her a couple of years ago.

A few years ago she was like God on the Style and Beauty boards, and if I am being absolutely honest I could never quite figure out why as I never thought her skin was that amazing?

Plus I hate the fact she just flogs everything and doesnt seem to have that much integrity?

I follow 'My Skin Story' on Instagram and have learnt much more from her in the last few months (namely exfoliate, hydrate with hyaluronic acid and then moisturise, and SPF). She does also talk about retinol etc as she had really bad acne herself and has talked about what works for her, but she isn't hawking a different product every 5 seconds, and doesn't really care which specific product people are using, just discusses a routine. Plus she seems nicer as well!

withlotsoflove · 23/06/2020 17:27

One thing that made me laugh ( before l left the group) was the devotion to those over priced ( very low %) vitC capsules that she’d been recommending!
So many poor faces and wallets! Grin

Heygirlheyboy · 23/06/2020 22:37

What Vit C do you recommend? On the look out!

Not sure if these were capsules you swallow, or break to rub on the skin, but there is no point taking Vit C capsules by mouth (unless you can't eat fruit & veg for some reason). The body can only absorb a certain amount of Vit C per day, it can't store it - any excess is excreted. If you eat more than you need per day, it will just end up in the toilet. Cut out the middle woman and just check tenners down the loo Wink
Heygirlheyboy · 24/06/2020 08:26

No they were for your skin and tbf seemed universally adored. I would say the inkey list version probably good too.

I think the majority liked them - but they had a very low vitC content. It gave all the fans shiny faces and no £. If somebody didn’t get on with them - they almost apologised first! 🤣 You can’t join that page with any previous scientific knowledge. You’ll be forced to retreat and leave. It’s actually crazy the amount of products that are being peddled. You don’t need it! In most cases it was resulting in terribly damaged skin . Yet , none of the contributors would dare mention it.

Timeless is a great option. High % and at the right PH to actually benefit skin.
Smallgoon · 24/06/2020 13:06

What did she say about Susan Yara ?

Kicking off that SY had been promoting a particular new brand for months and months, and has recently confirmed that she is co-founder of said brand. CH appears to have gone a little nuclear.

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/06/2020 13:13

I had to look her up as I had no clue who she was. I'm stunned that she is only 49 I thought she was at least late 50s

Smallgoon · 24/06/2020 13:23

I used to really like Caroline. Just find her quite shouty now and don't enjoy the virtue signalling. In fact, I'm sick of all the so called influencers now being vocal on #BML - where the fuck were they before? Why should it take somebody in the US to be murdered, for them to realise what white privilege is? Just feels totally contrived to me.

The angst by her fans over the book is unbelievable. I quite fancy reading it as I do think she knows about skincare but am not keen on the idea of lining her pockets, especially if the book recommends only expensive brands which many people who can't afford it will go out and buy.

ChipstickCharlie · 24/06/2020 14:36

The book angst is hilarious. There's one woman out there who's ordered god knows how many copies for no fathomable reason and all the ones going on and on about how amazon are now the devil
