TOAST

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

human I hope you like it!

SirVixofVixHall · 18/06/2020 20:51

Squiz81
I would wash it cold, either by hand or if you have a very good machine, on the wool cycle. There is a small risk of shrinkage as the weave is so loose, but I think a good steam press will sort that out as long as you don’t wash it too hot.
I wash silk print dresses, everything. My dry cleaner nicked my coat...

Squiz81 · 18/06/2020 21:01

Thanks for the tips @SirVixofVixHall I’m going to chuck it in the machine tomorrow

Alsohuman · 18/06/2020 21:09

I’ll love it @Boiledeggandtoast, the question is whether it loves me back!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 18/06/2020 21:26

@EraOfTheGrey thanks I shall try it on my laptop!

Castoreum · 18/06/2020 21:36

If there is a silk cycle on your machine, that's also a good option for delicates, @Squiz81

I use the silk cycle on my Miele for almost everything dry cleanable and no problems so far.

Railingsohno · 18/06/2020 21:37

Jeez that Middle Aged thread is brutal. I’m coming back on here, a much nicer more supportive vibe and no judgement over my botox or my bretons . 😱😆

Moominmammaatsea · 18/06/2020 21:46

@StarShapedWindow, thank you. My eldest DD is now registered blind, having lost the majority of her vision - suddenly and unexpectedly- coming up for two years ago now. She retains about 10 per cent sight but she’s been having episodes over the past few weeks where she’s been waking up totally ‘dark.’ She saw various experts today and the consensus is that she is suffering acute visual stress from hours spent at a laptop trying to get through the masses of work set by her secondary school.

slipperyeel · 18/06/2020 21:48

I’ve gone back for the denim v neck, I’m only 5ft2 so it may end up being too big.
Also gone for the cotton slub sweater and the Yvonne pouch bag which I think will be handy on holiday in Cornwall if I get to go.

DameCelia · 18/06/2020 22:01

I'm about to place an order and I'm being asked whether someone referred me. Does anyone want to do that? I think you get a present?

Moominmammaatsea · 18/06/2020 22:05

Ooh! I think I can do that! Do I need to give you a code?

Saurus72 · 18/06/2020 22:08

@Moominmammaatsea good grief that’s a hard situation - poor little girl.

V glad coat dress is a beauty

Moominmammaatsea · 18/06/2020 22:11

@DameCelia, I do have a Mention Me link I could PM to you - you will get £20 off your order, but I’m not sure if it will include sale stock? I don’t really need anything else but I’m happy to pay the £20 forward to you (it will help assuage my guilt at broadcasting the JL price match offer so far and wide, and then taking advantage of it so comprehensively!)

DameCelia · 18/06/2020 22:12

Hi @Moominmammaatsea it is asking for your name and email address. Maybe you could pm me? (can you see pm on the app?)

DameCelia · 18/06/2020 22:13

Aha, just seen your update, yes please!

EraOfTheGrey · 18/06/2020 22:26

@StarShapedWindow would love you to feed back.

I have a 15% discount from a mention me code I gave out. The linen gingham dress will now be £114.75. So very tempted.

Moominmammaatsea · 18/06/2020 22:29

@Saurus72, thank you, yes, it is, but she is incredibly resilient and is coping amazingly well. And sometimes clothes aren’t just clothes, they’re protective armour or a much-needed diversion from the horror or mundanity of everyday life - which is why I’ve been enjoying this thread so much. I really hope I haven’t put a downer on it for everyone - PLEASE talk to me about dresses! 😀

Railingsohno · 18/06/2020 22:29

@Moominmammaatsea that’s terrible- your poor DD. How old is she? Does she just need to rest now? I’ve never heard of that before. A heartfelt get well soon to her and to you all, that must be such a strain Flowers

Railingsohno · 18/06/2020 22:34

@Moominmammaatsea as you were keen to chat about beautiful clothing 💗...
Is this what you got?

Katiepoes · 18/06/2020 22:50

My things arrived today, and I am officially a convert. The trousers are flattering and hang so nicely, and the top is perfect. It came with a return lable, I had not expected that and won't need it, but it was still good to see.

Does this mean I can stay? 😁 The middleaged thread has freaked me out, I'm a dark curly haired glasses and Veja wearing woman that may have 11s and a taste for wide legged trousers and boxy tops 😁

Yorkshirelass04 · 18/06/2020 22:51

@Katiepoes welcome to the dark side of TOAST.

Moominmammaatsea · 18/06/2020 22:54

@Railingsohno, yes it is! It’s not normally something I’d go for as my acid test is - will it survive an outing to the park or the woods (youngest DD is a muck magnet and prefers to use me rather than wipes to clean her hands if we’re out and about!) I was definitely seduced by the massive reduction (£250 to £75) and the thrill of the chase (last one in stock) but now it’s arrived, I think it’s one of those rare happy-accidental purchases that will pay itself back manifold.

I’m much more of a utilitarian-look person (hence me owning 3 x pairs of the Toast Jessa dungarees, eleventy-billion Bretons (they are just wrong, wrong, wrong on that other thread!) and various pairs of Vejas. But the dress/coat will - for me - fit that vibe. And, best of all, for such a luxury/expensively priced garment, it’s machine washable!

Alsohuman · 18/06/2020 23:05

@Katiepoes, so glad you’re so happy with your purchases. Can I be really cheeky and ask you to hang onto that label if it hasn’t got a bar or Q code? Someone might be needing one before long!

Loving that coat/dress, it’s a thing of beauty.

Katiepoes · 18/06/2020 23:28

It has a barcode Alsohuman, do you want it anyway? I'm in Holland though, that might make a difference

Alsohuman · 18/06/2020 23:33

That’s really kind, thank you. The bar code will relate specifically to your order so I think Toast might get very confused if someone else used it!
