TOAST

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

[quote Railingsohno]For anyone interested they are these ones, pretty good bargain I think. There may be more money off trousers in the sale too.

I think the colour is warmer than in their pictures, more tobacco than sulphur

They look better on you!

houseforanartlover · 17/06/2020 20:38

Hmmm, I've got the Crosshatch coming in a 12, bit worried about the gape now. We'll see!

SirVixofVixHall · 17/06/2020 20:38

Saurus72 Arket and Cos often have semi sheer merino long-sleeved tops.

Countmeout · 17/06/2020 20:40

Love the trousers with the Toast top @Railingsohno.

Would love to see your kantha jacket @Yorkshirelass04.

Who said about the Gabi trousers? Was it you @ilovecherries. I have what I think is that style of trousers but I think I’m shorter than you. They’re ankle length on me and I bought an 8 (I am not an 8 even at 7-9lbs lighter than I am at the moment) an elastic waist is very forgiving and it took care of the baggy bum look. I find them great except for an urge to iron them after every wear (maybe most people do that anyhow)

I got my blouse refund. So as I’ve saved so much I now need to buy something.

Saurus72 · 17/06/2020 21:21

Agree the crosshatch dress looks good on everyone here, beautiful colour and v flattering. Thanks Vix and Gazebo for wool t-shirt recs, will take a look.

goldpendant · 17/06/2020 21:22

Loving the cross hatch dress on everyone....

Loving this thread, all the kindred spirits, and especially the reminiscing of @ToastCosILoveIt - I think I had the same bootcut velveteen jeans!

I’ve been wearing Toast for years now, and have had the pleasure of a visit to the original store and an archive sale (which was like an upmarket jumble sale but lots of fun).

I don’t buy things every season and have had a few duds, usually because I’ve bought in a hurry, but I have some pieces that have become old friends, and the quality is excellent. This season I got the twill jumpsuit in artichoke and it’s great for home working; I can throw it on and feel comfortable but reasonably put-together.

Currently stalking a few more items in the sale, waiting for the next reduction. Risky but there’s not a lot of excitement around at the moment so I’ll find it where I can!

Squiz81 · 18/06/2020 15:38

I just received a lovely Toast dress which I bought from Depop. Checked the label and it’s dry clean only 😬 I’m thinking I’m just going to wash it on a wool cycle (it’s 100% cotton) this is what I normally do - just thought I’d check in with you Toast experts to see if anyone knows if that ends well with Toast dresses?

Castoreum · 18/06/2020 15:44

Just wash it cold and gentle, Squiz. It will almost certainly be absolutely fine. What type of cotton is it? As in, lawn or muslin or what? What's the texture like?

Saurus72 · 18/06/2020 15:46

@AwkwardSquad ha yes, get the excitement where you can 😊. The challenge for me is to balance the draw of any further reductions with not buying things because they’re cheap. That is very difficult when there’s 70% off...

@Squiz81 I wash everything even when it says dry clean only (except tailoring) and haven’t had problems. Gentle 30 degrees surely OK..? I really don’t believe in dry cleaning, v bad for clothes and bank balance. What’s the dress like - so nice to get a bargain!

Alsohuman · 18/06/2020 16:02

So what do we think of this? If returns were free, I wouldn’t hesitate but I’m loathe to fork out for delivery and return just to try it on. Is this something that would work on a busty shortarse?

ilovecherries · 18/06/2020 16:08

human, if you return an entire order they will refund your delivery, and if you use PayPal to pay you can claim the return cost from them. And yes, I think it’s worth trying, lovely jacket.

SirVixofVixHall · 18/06/2020 16:10

Squiz which dress is it ?
I wash almost everything, even coats, so can advise if you show me a pic .

Alsohuman · 18/06/2020 16:16

That’s amazing news, Cherries, I had no idea. I must check and see what they refunded when I sent my dress back. Good tip re PayPal too. Right, off to order it.

Katiepoes · 18/06/2020 16:35

I use the PayPal return thing, it's really good as I have to ship back from outside the UK which can cost a bit - you have to sign up for it though, it's not automatic. It's in your account settings I believe.

ZaraW · 18/06/2020 16:36

I just ordered these in an XS and hoping they fit. I'm usually an S. Are Toast pyjamas on the generous side? It was the last pair and I missed them when they first came out.

fizzpopbang123 · 18/06/2020 16:58

Toast have released further markdowns, but to be honest, I'm struggling to find them!

Saurus72 · 18/06/2020 17:16

Agree, not huge further reductions!

The Ume dress - keep looking at this but not sure about size. I’m usually a 14 or 12 in Toast dresses (Medium Franca dress fits perfectly). Can anyone please advise on fit - I’m thinking 14, just don’t want it to be huge. Thanks.

ilovecherries · 18/06/2020 17:28

I have the Ume. My normal size 12 fits properly, so I would say it’s TTS. I usually wear M in the dual sizing.

AmethystMoonShine · 18/06/2020 17:40

Mmmm I’ve been eagerly awaiting further markdowns and am rather disappointed. Can anyone tell me if Toast usually markdown again before ending the sale?

Countmeout · 18/06/2020 17:46

I have the Ume. I bought a 12 due to the buttons on the front. I think the fit in Toast is difficult to guess. Some of my dresses are10, a couple are 12. I have tops in a small, a blouse in a 10 and a shirt which is a 12 which is too big. I think the Ume is a smallish fit. I am no help whatsoever basically.

EraOfTheGrey · 18/06/2020 17:46

I ordered both colours in the Ume dress yesterday at £85 each. I do love a good toast dress and was further persuaded by seeing the dress on Cherries. I've just been on chat with Toast who have agreed a refund of the £20 difference on the sale price.

GazeboParty · 18/06/2020 17:57

Just claimed another price match from JLP on the Cotton Twill shirt - still showing at £125 on Toast - JLP price £37.50!

Saurus72 · 18/06/2020 18:06

Hmm thanks for Ume dress replies. One of those things where going into an actual shop would be so much easier, not sure I can be tagged with returns.

Saurus72 · 18/06/2020 18:07

Faffed not tagged Hmm
