Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

Thanks @Railingsohno. I might take the plunge and try them. My moheda Toast clogs are comfortable but I think the Kitty clogs may be less commodious!

Railingsohno · 12/06/2020 16:12

@GazeboParty - love both of those!

Railingsohno · 12/06/2020 16:16

@paintedwolf that’s really lovely. I got this last year which has got a bit of similar vibe

Aha I have that pattern in a dress from last year!

AmethystMoonShine · 12/06/2020 16:59

Both lovely @GazeboParty but I particularly love the skirt.

Countmeout · 12/06/2020 17:13

Yes the skirt looks lovely @GazeboParty. Are you tall.? It’s really elegant.

@AmethystMoonShine

Both lovely *@GazeboParty* but I particularly love the skirt.
It was such a surprise - here's the Toast pic - it looks so stiff and boring, maybe too well ironed.😂 www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+skirts/c3lbc/freya+cotton+linen+wrap+skirt.htm?clr=C3LBC_Parchment_sw

Late to the Toast love-in, but I’d really like to join, if you’ll have me? If it boosts my credentials, I’m also partial to a bit of Margaret Howell (and have more pieces than I care to cost out in my wardrobe).

I just wanted to let people know that more sizes in more styles have come back into stock at John Lewis.

Also, for when the real-actual shops open again, there is a fabulous Margaret Howell outlet store in the McArthur Glen shopping centre just outside York city centre. The prices are generally half those in the main shops and they will ship things far and wide.

Much more stylish on you @GazeboParty Smile

To add to the confessions posted here, my sale purchases include the Seiko Ikat wrap dress (a birthday gift), a pair of VejaV10s (comfiest trainers ever), the indigo denim v-neck dress (reviews are dire but I saw it on a similarly-sized friend and it looked great), the moleskin a-line workwear skirt (a replacement for a much-loved a-line denim skirt) and the navy and parchment stripe wool and cotton short knit (looks great over my Toast denim dungarees).

HieronymusBoschLAPD · 12/06/2020 21:59

Thank you for the JL tip, Mormon, I've just ordered (another!) pair of trousers - the Jude ones in olive.

goldpendant · 12/06/2020 22:24

Welcome @Moominmammaatsea - you sound very well qualified to join us!

Thanks for the JL tip..... off I go!

I’ve been reading through this thread over the last few days and had to laugh because I virtually live in Toast, I am a ceramicist and I have an allotment! 😂. The carrots are booming this year! I love all the pics you e been posting, it’s so lovely to see how the clothes look on different people rather than the very sullen models. I go for the plainer stuff - I find the Lydia dresses suit any occasion - dress them up and they look very elegant or bung one on for the school run with a chunky cardigan. I’m going to buy the Lydia jumpsuit and looking at all your lovely dresses I might try a bold pattern.

mizu · 13/06/2020 09:23

Ooh yes love a Lydia dress. Would you believe I picked mine up in a car boot a few years ago for £2.50?

ilovecherries · 13/06/2020 09:26

star, I still regret selling a Lydia dress on eBay. I don’t know what possessed me! I’m blame Marie Kondo. Another favourite of mine is a dark blue denim pinafore with buttons at the side. I can’t remember it’s name, but it’s one they trundle out every season. It’s really winter weight for me though. This year has been my first really foray into prints, and I’m still considering if I can style them enough for them to have longevity in my wardrobe. Inspired by a friend, I’ve also bought a couple of the cotton/lined slub jumpers this year, and I love them.

ilovecherries · 13/06/2020 09:26

Linen. They aren’t lined.

GazeboParty · 13/06/2020 09:42

I bought a stripy Lydia dress in a jersey fabric, looks great when I put it on but it bags badly at the back after sitting, so I never wear it.

LanternHill · 13/06/2020 09:46

I've got that pinafore cherries. In fact...I love them so much I have two blue denim and have just acquired a second in black denim. The buttons on the denim pinafores kept falling off though and so I recently replaced them with slightly chunky, mother of pearl smoke shell buttons... which has given them a kind of re-launch.

I did have a turquoise Lydia dress several years ago which, despite trying to remodel by taking it up and taking it in, I just couldn't get to work. Ultimately, I charity shopped it.. with a sad heart!

Yorkshirelass04 · 13/06/2020 11:19

I'm now craving a lydia dress.

It's so easy to justify these purchases with them all being so 'practical'.

Alsohuman · 13/06/2020 11:31

Nope Lydia’s not for me. Anything sleeveless is completely out of the question.

Railingsohno · 13/06/2020 12:31

Loving all the chat! I am dead keen to go to the MH outlet! A trip to York may be on the cards Grin

Just wish the weather would improve again. Nasty here.

Right. Still undecided. Jacket 1
