Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

I love Toast. I have been buying their clothes for at least 15 years and they are well made and last ages.

I bought a needlecord dark green winter dress a few years ago and still get compliments every time I wear it. I'm very careful, wash inside out, try to wear a few times between washing. It looks great.

Thanks to this thread I just bought another dress on sale Grin

ilovecherries · 10/06/2020 09:14

Oh, what did you buy, Eddie?

I agree about the clothes lasting. I’m careful about how I care for them as well, and the odd thing I’ve sold on, I’ve usually achieved at least as much as I bought it for, given I only buy at sale times.

AmethystMoonShine · 10/06/2020 10:11

I can recommend washing Toast items, well anything really, in mesh bags in the machine. It stops zips and things on other items snagging the fabric. Ive had far fewer holes on clothing since I started using them.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 10/06/2020 10:23

Stop sending things back in my size people, I stupidly look back at the website and end up buying them!

slipperyeel · 10/06/2020 10:38

Just received my order.
Going back:
Judith raffia bag - cute but way overpriced even in the sale
Wide armed cotton wrap top - can’t see it on the website anymore so must have sold out

Keeping
Lydia jersey shift dress (not in the sale but beautiful and elegant)
Kyoto nightie (also not sale)
Stripe cotton cropped tee (both colours, so soft and flattering. Ideal for home working. )
Ticking stripe long shirt - will wear over leggings

Railingsohno · 10/06/2020 10:38

@Whatthefoxgoingon

What did you get? I’ve had just the same happen to me and I’m hovering over the buy button!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 10/06/2020 10:49

The kibbo and Agnes dresses. I have some sort of addiction to Toast dresses and need rehab Blush

Eddielzzard · 10/06/2020 10:59

ilovecherries I bought the crosshatch dark green with yellow flowers fake wrap dress. Half price! Can't wait!

Annoyingly I bought the Large Check Poplin skirt in January NOT ON SALE. But I get loads of compliments about that so it was worth it Grin. Or at least I did before lock down. Now I just slouch around in very badly fitting Hush slouch wear.

I had tried the poplin dress in the previous colour way (rust, yellow, blues) and looked very very strange in it. Only way that would have worked was to resew the side seams but that would have impacted on the waist height. Very weird. Hence why I jumped on the skirt.

Have you bought anything?

HieronymusBoschLAPD · 10/06/2020 11:29

Does anyone have the linen cotton jumpsuit (sorry if it's already been posted.... I swear home schooling has reduced my comprehension levels to that of a P1!)? I'm lusting over it but hesitating because I'm not sure if it'll be too short, or too tight across the bust. Then there's the age old question of rust or safe-and-goes-with-everything navy.... I might wait and see if it's reduced further. Fitted dresses and jumpsuits are usually a nightmare for fit for me, but despite that I keep buying (and then returning) in the vain hope I'll one day strike gold!

Interesting that there's a few of us in rural
Scotland. The ability to pull on wellies at any given moment without looking a fool is a key element of my wardrobe choices for pretty much 98% of the year. Also, everything has to 'go' with a waterproof coat, even when you're not sporting wellies.

I hadn't thought about the colours before ArtLover, but I think you're right. They're very 'Scottish landscape' in tone. I think I'm a HOC autumn of some variety, so I'm very much a fan of them.

Railingsohno · 10/06/2020 11:29

Arghh I hesitated over the Crosshatch dress and it’s gone now. Need to be more decisive! Still waiting for quite a few refunds to come through so bank balance is a bit depleted!

Yorkshirelass04 · 10/06/2020 11:36

@HieronymusBoschLAPD
I have the navy jumpsuit, and I love it. I can't get away with the mustard colour with my colouring so the blue it was.
They come up big - I had to return for a size 8! Trust me I am not skinny. It is quite voluminous on the bottom which I personally love as it looks almost like a dress on.
It looks great with a long necklace to jazz it up. And trainers or flip flops.

thedevilinablackdress · 10/06/2020 11:55

I love this thread. Lovely Toast love without too many "but it's so Amish" comments. As if that's a problem.
(Patiently waiting for a long linen Toast dress from eBay)

ilovecherries · 10/06/2020 13:16

I have bought three dresses and a blouse (pics upthread). I’m not going to keep everything but I do love it all. So there’s a dilemma. 😂

I also have your skirt coming. I’m assuming it will make me look enormous and will be returned, but I needed to scratch the itch.

It may come back in stock - I’m stalking the site for returns atm!

Yes it’s a nice thread. I hate threads where posters want to talk about a favourite brand, no matter which it is, and posters turn up with nothing more to offer than ‘its all crap/ugly/unflattering etc’

Whatthefoxgoingon · 10/06/2020 14:17

I’m sending a medium orange linen dress back. It was too big all over and I couldn’t make it work. Gorgeous colour though!

Alsohuman · 10/06/2020 14:23

It doesn’t look as of I’m going to get my Nora dress. I keep checking to see if they’ve had a return in my size but no luck yet. I can see I’m going to end up stalking eBay.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/06/2020 14:58

I have ordered some Kin from John Lewis trousers, which I wouldn’t have thought of it wasn’t for this thread. Not sure how they fit, but worth a try I think.

Railingsohno · 10/06/2020 15:18

A couple of pictures of that checked dress on Instagram. Looks great the way she’s styled it

The check dress is very tempting. Has anyone ordered that little pouch thing - would ndered if it’d be useful for a phone , I seem to have abandoned handbags entirely.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/06/2020 15:51

I bought the green cross hatch dress in a 12, as they have sold out of the 10. I am hoping it isn’t too large, it isn’t here yet.

ilovecherries · 10/06/2020 16:12

Oh, she looks lovely. Wonder if I can make myself as stylish as that! I do have blouse with a frilly cuff... I’m never sure about leggings under a dress, but as well as stylish, that looks so comfortable.
Alsohuman · 10/06/2020 16:27

I’m not keen on leggings under a dress. Rolled trousers work better for me. She has styled that dress beautifully otherwise.

SteakDiane · 10/06/2020 16:27

Just adding to the checked dress encouragement cherries. I think it looks great. Very modern silhouette too. Not 100% on idea of leggings underneath, but maybe slim leg trousers or jeans? Is that what the women in Instagram pic has on anyway? They look less clingy than leggings.

Countmeout · 10/06/2020 16:52

So my Kin Jeans arrived. Fine size wise but just overwhelming, very heavy . And I don’t know why it never occurred to me they had a side zip - going back.

I think that’s narrow trousers under the checked dress.
Trousers are defeating me at the moment .
