TOAST

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

Actually that wasn't quite your question was it - sorry! They normally add more stock from the current season and also further reduce what's already in the sale. Stuff does sell out though so you have to hold your nerve but also decide how badly you want something.

AmethystMoonShine · 09/06/2020 11:53

Thanks @Floisme that’s helpful. I know they’ve already added more stock, about a week ago I think but hadn’t noticed any further reductions.
There are a few bits I’d like but having already had two three parcels from this Toast sale, they’ll have to be reduced further for me to buy. So holding of the nerves it is! Grin

AmethystMoonShine · 09/06/2020 11:55

To clarify that should read three parcels. I thought I’d deleted ‘two’ as I realised I’d had one more parcel right at the start of the sale Blush
It was not a way of saying twenty three.... I’m not that bad Grin

Floisme · 09/06/2020 12:32

For what it's worth, I would say there's a fighting chance that trousers will be further reduced, normally to a maximum of 50% if they're current season, or sometimes lower if they're older stock. But a lot of the tops - and especially the T shirts and knitwear - don't get reduced as much unless they're very 'directional'. They also tend to sell out quite fast.

HieronymusBoschLAPD · 09/06/2020 12:34

Can I join in, please?

I've been a Toast fan since my student days 15 years ago when I couldn't afford anything from them. I spent my first bonus on a pair of beautiful cavalry boots from them which I can't bear to part with, despite the fact I can't get my legs in them anymore! I think I buy the a good proportion of my clothes from them now. Mainly trousers, knitwear and dresses. Being large of nork, I don't suit round necks and Toast very rarely do many v neck things. Like others I supplement my Toast things with OSKA, Brora, Kin at John Lewis, Seasalt and the odd Boden thing.

Anyway, I've just received my sale purchases and despite intending to return some of the order, I'm keeping the lot. I've just ordered another pair of trousers and a size smaller of ones that came today just to make sure the bigger size is right. My purchases from the winter sale haven't even been worn yet (damn lockdown), so I'm feeling a tad guilty at having invested quite so much in unworn clothes! Blush

I'm hoping they add some of the knitwear to the sale - there's a khaki/mustard cardi that I'd love but after having already bought the navy and yellow last autumn, I can't justify another full price one!

AFingerofFudge · 09/06/2020 13:55

May I join please? I'm relatively new to Toast (a year or so). I've admired their clothes for a number of years but believed they were for tall thin types (I'm short and dumpy) However in my local town there is a Toast shop and I wandered in a year or so ago and there was a woman working in there who was even shorter than me and she looked amazing in their clothing.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 09/06/2020 14:01

I’m 5’3 and large of bust. I can still make Toast clothes work. Some dresses need shortening or I just accept the maxi length!

Railingsohno · 09/06/2020 14:16

Loving this thread!

Well I prevaricated too long over that mustard Fairisle and it’s gone! I will keep an eye out.

I’m waiting for my 2 Kantha jackets (to choose one) and Kitty clogs. Hopefully they’ll arrive soon.

Where do other people get trousers? I am pretty slim but I’ve not got much of a bum/flat bum so I need something more fluid to skim over or something stretchy to lift! Maybe a stiffer fabric would work - chinos etc don’t look great on me, I need a pocket to lift my bum!

ilovecherries · 09/06/2020 15:07

I’d love a kathna jacket but just can’t justify jackets this year. We are shielding someone in the house, so I’m never out in daylight these days, and as that’s just been extended till 31 July no real end in sight. I’m already looking sadly at the lovely jackets I do have. But the kathnas are truly a thing of beauty. I’ve had a parade of RM, DPD and Hermes at the door this morning Hmm with new toast stuff, so will have a massive try on shortly.

AmethystMoonShine · 09/06/2020 15:15

oooh let us know how you get on @ilovecherries

Whatthefoxgoingon · 09/06/2020 15:43

Have fun @ilovecherries

Railingsohno · 09/06/2020 16:23

@ilovecherries - looking forward to hearing how you get on!

Yorkshirelass04 · 09/06/2020 16:51

On a related note, I ordered some veja trainers from toast and they are fab, very comfortable.

I now want the black veja boots which are reduced 🙊

ilovecherries · 09/06/2020 16:55

Would anyone like to see what I got? First up is this poplin dress. It’s gorgeous, has an annoyingly high boat neck which I’d need to get fixed. Have also tried it with a belt and a chunky jumper And DMs. It’s beautifully made and I think it would be versatile all year round, so will probably keep. This is a size 12 and I’m 5’7. (Excuse embarrassing sock marks!)

I am tallish, but the bust thing (28GG) is the biggest problem with Toast. I have the seersucker wrap dress, and it doesn’t gape, which is wonderful. Very high waisted though, the wrap tie is almost on my bust.
I also bought the rope soled sandals, but they don’t suit my wide feet, sadly. They fit them, but just look a bit frumpy.

ilovecherries · 09/06/2020 16:56

Washed linen dress. Love this, can’t remember who recommended it, but great buy which I wouldn’t have considered. This is a medium.

cherries that looks lovely. Colour really suits you too.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/06/2020 16:58

I was talking about the blue print dress, but the plain deeper blue is a good colour for you too.

ilovecherries · 09/06/2020 16:58

This is going back. It’s one of Toasts WTF offerings on me, but offered for your entertainment. This is a small. I can see that it would be a comfortable wafting dress, but wafting won’t be happening this year.

Railingsohno · 09/06/2020 16:59

Both of those are great.

Railingsohno · 09/06/2020 16:59

The checked one is nice too

ilovecherries · 09/06/2020 17:01

Finally, pintuck blouse. My DD says this is hideous but I like it. It’s fine lawn cotton, size 12. TTS.

I like the checked one too !

ilovecherries · 09/06/2020 17:04

I’m a 32G, vix, I certainly need to be careful, but that’s across most brands. And I’m not wearing bloody pepperberry!

HieronymusBoschLAPD · 09/06/2020 17:11

I'm very similar, Vix, just shy of 5'10 and a 28H. Length and bust is often an issue with Toast. I bought a lovely maxi dress last summer from them that every time I wear I wish was a few inches longer for maximum waft. I do often wonder why they don't put huge hems on things so that those taller customers can lengthen things. Their stuff is such good quality, it's the kind of thing you'd expect. Shorter customers can take up, but the taller ones are left with cold ankles and no options!

I hear you on the Pepperberry offerings, Cherries. The dresses are lovely and the pintuck blouse looks fantastic, absolutely a keeper. WTF just about sums up the checked number perfectly.
