That bag in elephant is gorgeous and will go with anything

Pomegranatepompom · 14/05/2020 22:23

I also like the belted bayswater. Not sure if looks a bit miss marple? Although I don't really mind that look !

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 14/05/2020 22:26

I do think the belted Bayswater is a bit granny if I'm honest. But my SIL just got one for her birthday and I'd never say that to her.

Hi, can I join in the dreaming & drooling?
I've been after an Antony for a couple of years & love the elephant one here, the saving is worth having. At the mo I have a standard - well, large really - Bayswater (which I adore) as my every day bag & which easily carries a large Mulberry purse & the Darley cosmetic pouch plus keys, phone, tissues & a myriad of other bits. Do you think the purse will fit into the Antony? (I can always try to Kondo down to one lippy!)
Thanks for sharing this link, OP

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 15/05/2020 08:11

Which size Antony @roseyoldcrow? I have the bigger one and it fits a small Mulberry purse ok, you might struggle with the large. You'll just need a new purse as well!

The Antonys are a good saving in this sale.

I am also drooling over the belted bays satchel.... I have been looking at this style for a while and it's quite a good saving.

I looked at it a lots yesterday and woke up thinking about it this morning Blush

Has anyone already bought one?

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 15/05/2020 09:08

I'm still trying to justify it to myself @bobbilyboo! I've looked at it in the Mulberry store and it's gorgeous. I think the silky calf leather is much nicer than the grain as well and it's swaying me the fact that this one is in the sale in the colour I love.

Definitely the larger Antony, I couldn't cope with anything smaller!
Oh dear, another purse, you say? That would be dreadful!

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 15/05/2020 11:13

Right - I need your help to spend money! I have £600 (which is the money from not having a birthday holiday), so I'm spending it on me! I have a bayswater I don't use much as I've fucked my shoulder and need to carry small, light bags (and smaller so I'm not tempted to fill with crap).

I fell in love with the small Amberley and I had sort of thought I'd save and add to my bag pot and buy one whenever we are out of lockdown, but they've only gone and got one in my budget in the pale pink that's nice and summery www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/sale-preview/small-amberley-satchel-dark-blush-silky-calf#

however, now I've seen the small darley shoulder bag www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/sale-preview/small-darley-shoulder-bag-crimson-heavy-grain - I wear a lot of navy and plum colours in winter, so this will work with those. Has anyone got one? Could you get a kindle in it?

And should I really be thinking if we do go on holiday this year, it'll be in the UK and while I won't want a beach bag, I might want a big "throw everything in it" type tote and be sensible about not carrying heavy things? Urgh, why do they have to make so many nice ones?!

Ninkanink · 15/05/2020 11:18

I really like the second bag. It will definitely go nicely with the colours you wear, and it’ll stay looking pristine for much longer than a lighter colour likely would. I can’t help you on the kindle as I don’t have one. But I often find YouTube reviews and ‘what’s in my bag’ videos a great help in looking at the practical, functional use of a potential bag so I’d have a quick look.

Have you got more winter bags or summer bags?

Ninkanink · 15/05/2020 11:20

Oh the dark blush isn’t that light, actually.

That could work as a winter bag as well - it’s go nicely with navy for sure.

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/05/2020 11:22

I’ve been keeping an eye on this as wanted a Hampstead but the prices and offerings are the same as the online outlet

Not too sure if there will be any further reductions

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/05/2020 11:24

If you already have a Bayswater satchel what would you be looking for next?

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/05/2020 11:25

I quite like this colour but not too sure if it’s a bit bright and will clash with everything

Ninkanink · 15/05/2020 11:28

It depends on what you wear. It won’t clash with any colours in the same undertone (warm or cool) so if most of your wardrobe consists of colours that the bag complements then you’ll be able to wear it lots.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 15/05/2020 11:32

@Rebelwithallthecause - I have a DKNY bag in that colour that's a small crossbody bag. I bought it as a sort of evening bag for holiday 3 years ago, thinking it would be fine with summery dresses, but I've ended up using it loads in the summers since as it goes with so much in summer, great with blues, pinks, reds, white and pale greens, looks good with a beige trench mac. But in winter when I tend to wear darker blues, it stands out and doesn't work. If you wear a cream, red or beige winter coat, it would look good.

Srictlybakeoff · 15/05/2020 11:42

I have a small Amberley and I love it. The darley satchel isa gorgeous bag but the gold hardware is very bright - personally it put me off.
I’ve just ordered that bag @chocolatesaltyballs22 - couldn’t stop thinking about it

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 15/05/2020 11:51

@Ninkanink - I have more darker bags, but most of my bags are big. My eye is drawn to big totes, which will make my shoulder problems worse...

I need to carry a purse, phone, kindle/A5 sized notebook, one pen, a lip balm and my keys - and my work pass on a work day. I need to get it in my head I don't have babies who require me to carry a suitcase sized bag around anymore, and I dont need to carry a shit tonne of stuff with me "just in case".

Therefore I require small bags of all seasons and to accept the very little amount I need.

(This isn't helping with the decision making process)

Ninkanink · 15/05/2020 12:02

For a winter bag I like the chunky gold hardware as it brightens a very dull and gloomy season, especially because I tend to wear dark coats in the winter, so for me that would be a pro not a con. It’s the same with the Leighton - I think it adds a whole new dimension to the bag and by extension to me, so although I usually would gravitate towards subtlety, I’d make an exception here.

Of the two I think I’d buy the Darley if I was going to use it most in the winter, and the Camberley if I really wanted a summer bag. I think the Camberley is a little more versatile because i’d use it all year round whereas the Darley is an autumn and winter bag to me.

Ninkanink · 15/05/2020 12:05

I used to be really into big bags and totes (am still drawn to them on occasion) but over the last several years it’s changed and now I absolutely love small to midi crossbody or shoulder bags. So much nicer to carry, and it’s liberating not to have to lug so much stuff around - same as you, I’d got used to having huge bags when I had younger children but mine are both grown up now and I really don’t need to carry much at all.

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/05/2020 12:17

Same here. As long as I can fit a small bottle of water and my purse and keys a small bag will do me

OlafLovesAnna · 15/05/2020 13:01

Thank you!

I am rewarding myself with a new Mulberry for all this bloody homeschooling. I love the Belted Bayswater Satchel and the Small Darley.

I was looking for a shoulder bag like the Bayswater but I imagine the Small Bays are too small to wear on your shoulder?

Ninkanink · 15/05/2020 13:03

Yes, the small Bayswater is too small to wear on the shoulder (if you mean under your arm like one would with a hobo bag).

Rebelwithallthecause · 15/05/2020 13:05

I really want to see them in person Sad

Ninkanink · 15/05/2020 13:09

Search for them on YouTube - the videos are usually very good, and seeing another person handling/wearing them really helps to give an idea of what the bag is like.
