I was seriously considering getting the Millie in charcoal. But might wait until autumn as it’s charcoal I want & its not really a summer colour. I’ve now got my eye on the Abbey in rose water for summer.

Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 13:17

@Maybedefinitely Beautiful!

@Offredismysister the Abbey is a lovely bag for summer. I might take mine out now just to look at over the next few weeks as it’s so pretty (I have it in the coral rose).

I agree that you should put the Millie on hold ‘til winter.

Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 13:19

Oh and I have the small Darley in rosewater; it’s a gorgeous colour, goes perfectly with so many other colours, very versatile and a lovely summer colour.

makingmyway10 · 25/05/2020 15:15

I have just bought the Abbey in Oak (see further up thread) I was unsure at first but it is lovely. I love it in the coral rose but that is not available now. I have a small Darley in black and it is a really sweet little bag. It has come on several city breaks with me.

I also have the Bayswater tote and a Lily in Rosewater and it is a beautiful colour for the Summer, goes with everything! Smile

Offredismysister · 25/05/2020 17:54

I’ve ordered the Abbey. Fingers crossed I love it.

makingmyway10 · 25/05/2020 18:33

Offeredismysister what colour did you go for?

Offredismysister · 25/05/2020 19:12

The rosewater. I like that it comes with a little purse. Hopefully it’ll fit a few cards in it, so I won’t need my purse.

makingmyway10 · 25/05/2020 20:18

Offredismysister it does. It is really small someone on here suggested using it for your keys so you don’t have to delve into the bag. This is what I will use it for. You can definitely get a a couple of cards in it though. Smile

Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 20:22

The inner pouch is very small. Either keys or a few cards, I think.

The bag itself is plenty big enough for a purse, though.

I find I need more than one pouch in the Abbey, to keep things organised. Otherwise I can never find anything without having to root around for ages...

IloveJudgeJudy · 25/05/2020 20:38

I'm loving this thread. All the bags look gorgeous. So much choice!

Do any of you have an Antony? I'm asking because I keep wavering about buying one.

I have a satchel from the Leather Satchel Co which was made to my specifications but I didn't do enough research; it's very heavy and you can't put much in it.

But... on the way back from Barcelona earlier this year I saw a woman with an Antony as her inflight bag. It looked so elegant. Also, a colleague of mine uses hers which is oxblood or tan as a work bag. We have to put our bags in lockers. Hers looks lovely and used, but not worn out iyswim.

So, should I buy one? If so, should I buy it in oxblood or tan? There's one for sale in a sort of mushroom colour? Will I use it?

IloveJudgeJudy · 25/05/2020 20:46

I've also just realised that there are three different Antonys- messenger, classic and small. The messenger seems huge so I'd probably want the Antony. It's in Dune in the sale.

Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 20:50

I would say that the Anthony is best in the tan, if you want it to look better and better as it ages and gets a bit battered - tan is best for relaxed usage and that great Mulberry patina IMO. But as long as the leather is grained you could get any colour that most appeals to you and it’ll still look good over the years.

Tan works well all year round and goes with absolutely everything. The other two colours could arguably be called winter and summer colours (although I do find that Oxblood can look great in the summer too, depending on what colours you tend to wear).

makingmyway10 · 25/05/2020 20:52

I have a small Anthony in Oak Ilovejudgejudy. It is small so no good as a work bag but it is great as a Small everyday bag. I use it as a travel bag for weekends away, took it to New York and Barcelona. It fits a purse, passport, sunglasses but not much else so is perfect when you need a comfortable bag which is not bulky. I am considering getting the mid size to use as an everyday bag.

makingmyway10 · 25/05/2020 20:53

Ninkanik I totally agree re colours. I have the Oak as it works all year round. Smile

Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 20:54

I have a mushroom coloured bag and it’s very versatile.

Should have said that I don’t necessarily see dark colours = winter, light colours = summer, but some people do. But I do tend to use my mushroom bag in spring/summer and not so much in the winter.

makingmyway10 · 25/05/2020 21:03

I do think the lighter colour is more Summer, I would not use it so much in Winter. Oak or Oxblood are more classic and oak or tan are usable all year around and with all colours. In my opinion those colours look good with a winter coat or a Summer dress Smile

Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 21:10

When I said tan for the Anthony I meant oak, just to be clear.

If I were buying it I’d get it in oak, because it’s a very functional bag and for that reason I feel that I would want to be able to wear it all year round, to literally be able to always grab and go.

IloveJudgeJudy · 25/05/2020 21:19

Thank you all for your replies and your wisdom. I was afraid you were going to say oak and that is the colour I would have chosen but I've never seen it on sale Sad. I'm just going to have to save up. I am getting a bonus a bit later in the year so may buy it then. I think I'm going to wait until I can try it on in a shop before finally making up my mind.

makingmyway10 · 25/05/2020 21:37

I too think the Oak meets your requirements best but unfortunately the Oak colour Is rarely if ever on sale. Duty free is a good option (well maybe not at the minute!) It is worth saving up for though Smile

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 25/05/2020 21:56

Another Antony fan here, I have two. Black for winter, and Dune for summer.

IloveJudgeJudy · 25/05/2020 22:03

@chocolatesaltyballs22 Thank you for the information. Do you get much use out of them? Are they very heavy or easy to use and can you get enough in them? The dune is a beautiful colour.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 25/05/2020 22:09

Not heavy at all and you can fit plenty in, don't buy the small though, it's tiny. My black is a vintage old style and the dune is the one which is in the sale now so both larger. I use them a lot for work trips to London when I need my hands free for my overnight bag. Love them.

Ninkanink · 25/05/2020 22:17

If you can’t get oak without saving and putting if off then maybe another colour would be better, so you can have it now (I’m terrible with delayed gratification; can you tell??)!

In that case I’d buy it in dune, because I think it’s neutral enough to go with pretty much anything, and will look better in summer than black would.

dumbo1 · 26/05/2020 08:06

How do you find the Bayswater tote? I want one as an everyday bag

makingmyway10 · 26/05/2020 09:36

I like it , fits lots in but the straps are quite thin so for me it would not be comfortable enough to use as an everyday bag. Also it would easy for someone to reach into the open sides so maybe not one for carrying on the tube. For me it is great for a shopping trip or as a carry on bag for a trip but not as an everyday bag. Hope that helps. Smile
