As on the previous thread, please critique the outfit rather than criticise the woman and keep Megxit talk for the many many threads already dedicated to that!

SWF Marie and Joachim have been out and about. Not sure the colour of her dress does much for her - she can carry off much deeper colours. And he needs to ditch the hair dye!

See what you mean about the hair dye *Queen' as Joachim looks miles better with in this photo.
Btw their children are Athena & Henrik. I think Athena is a beautiful name & was on the list for DD.

He should embrace the grey like his brother has! He actually looks older than CPF who's retained a certain boyishness but they're only about a year apart. Joachim sounds quite British in interviews, like Queen M, but CPF sounds Danish. Accents are funny that way!

Kate will be attending the BAFTAs on 2nd Feb so we can expect a major gown and jewels to match. I liked her white dress from last year at the time but I look at photos of it now and I'm not so keen.

Someone had a really weird lens on their camera taking these photos of theCambridges on Xmas day.
That is the most unfortunate angle of William’s head I have ever seen....!

MotherofPearl · 24/01/2020 19:47

I am fascinated by all the colours talk, though I've never had it done so find it all quite mystifying. I know for sure I really don't suit white near my face, but otherwise pretty much just wear the colours I like! Blush

I agree that SWF Marie's outfit drains her a little.

Looking forward to the BAFTAs - Kate's gown plus all the other celebs too.

MotherofPearl · 24/01/2020 19:53

frugalkitty seems very clued up on the colours thing - could you do mine without a photo? Grin I'm going off to look for an online version.

Trinny styling that burgundy Zara dress you linked to earlier, Queen!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/01/2020 19:56

Looking forward to seeing Kate at the Baftas, blimey, a year has gone quickly.
I’d love to see her in a Jenny Packham evening gown; she’s been favouring McQueen for a while and the Jenny Packhams are lovely.
Also, a bit more jewellery. I’d like her to wear one of her “little” tiaras like the Cartier Halo. With an updo, à la Princess Margaret.
Also she hasn’t worn this ruby necklace much.

Curly My god, he looks like the Alien Queen! Blush

MotherofPearl · 24/01/2020 20:03

I'm not keen on that ruby necklace of Kate's - the style is too spiky for me.

Here is Sophie in Sierra Leone, day 3:

https://www.newmyroyals.com/2020/01/the-countess-of-wessex-visited-aberdeen.html?m=1

I'm not convinced by the shoes or the blouse if I'm honest, but she is spotlighting such important causes and she looks so engaged and lovely that I feel reluctant to make it all about the clothes on this occasion.

MotherofPearl · 24/01/2020 20:07

Poor Joachim looks a little like a very well known (in SA) S. African newsreader who must be well into his 70s now and has that same slightly creepy dye job. It doesn't do anyone any favours.

@Spudlet I love her Friday Twinning but am always amused by how she points out that she's wearing a small and her assistant is in an XL!

Love Sophie. She just gets on with the job and is always so engaged

I'm supposed to wear muted versions of winter's colours. I'm not sure the muted-ness shows up that well on this pic.

Oh that makes sense @Chewbecca

I believe that hair colour does have an effect on suitable colours, especially on items near the face. Kate has had a lot of different hair colours now.

My wow colours are cobalt, various reds (especially true red and cherry), emerald, violet and darker or brighter pinks (especially fuschia or hot pink).

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/01/2020 20:28

I'm really liking that Zara dress & I don't normally do dresses. As I'm an inverted triangle shape & 2 sizes big upper top than below & with wide shoulders I find it almost impossible to find a dress that fits.

frugalkitty · 24/01/2020 20:36

House of Colour will drape you without showing your hair because colour analysis is based on skin tone not hair colour. I think that's why we can be surprised by some people's season. I'm brunette but with auburn undertones in my hair and have green eyes which might make me seem like an autumn but no thank goodness I'm a summer. I was really shocked when I was draped.

One theory is that we are instinctively drawn to our season colours which may help you decide. Once I got over the shock of being told to wear pink lipstick I realised that my favourite colours are the pinks/purples and blues/aquas of the summer palette. Monet paintings are the 'summer' ones. Something I've read recently suggests that summers should wear three or more colours to come alive rather than the head to toe navy I wear but I'm not sure how true this is. You can also make an educated guess by which jewellery suits you, silver/platinum or gold. This can be tricky though as I think it's hard to be objective as we like what we like. I'm actually a 'mixed metals' so can wear silver and gold, and although I can see that my copy wedding ring (platinum) suits my skin, I actually prefer my original 18ct gold one as I like the warmth it gives (I'm allergic to it).

I think the whole thing is rather interesting, so I didn't know beforehand that every can wear red. It has to be the right red though, depending on the season. Blue based for summers and winters, yellow based for springs and autumns.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/01/2020 20:43

I had a house of colour consultation done years ago.
I’m a winter. The consultant also spoke about style, apparently I’m a Natural Romantic...

thisenglishlife · 24/01/2020 20:50

I think hair colour does has some importance but skin/hair undertones, skin colour, eye colour, etc are more important. I know that House of Colour doesn't look at hair at all.

These are some of my favourite colours on Kate.

Those Christmas Day photos are seriously bizarre! Definitely a dodgy photographer but does show how much the camera can (and does) lie.

I actually really like Sophie’s outfit today- which surprises me because it looks like it shouldn’t work, but actually in context it really does. And most of all she just looks nice- like the relative you’d want to chat to at family occasions.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/01/2020 21:32

Dress code for the Baftas is sustainability
Therefore not a new one. Hopefully a restyle of an old one, rather than just wear it again.
I’m wondering if she can upcycle a gown she wore when pregnant.

I can only find 3. ( obviously I’m excluding the a Mustard Erdem horror)

The first one is too similar to last year’s dress. ( pale chiffon).
We haven’t seen her in black for a while.

Kate should rewear that black velvet strapless number, it was a great look on her but she's never repeated it. Reminded me a bit of Diana's infamous dress!

OP posts:
itswinetime · 24/01/2020 21:58

The black lace is a bit similar to the one she wore to the royal variety show but it is probably the easiest to alter.

Personally my favourite pregnancy dress is the green one which could be reworked but I'm not sure she would as it was the BAFTA's she wore it to originally. I also think she looks good in white so wouldn't be unhappy to see either of these 2 particularly the Roland Mouret as that is perfect for some bling.
