As on the previous thread, please critique the outfit rather than criticise the woman and keep Megxit talk for the many many threads already dedicated to that!

@QueenOfTheAndals Sorry!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/01/2020 08:37

@Whattheother2catsprefer
'My husband's squadron was headed by the Queen Mother - I'm pretty sure she didn't fly in bombings raids!'

Now that would have been something to be seen!
So I vote Sophie as Captain General of the Royal Marines.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/01/2020 08:38

I was browsing in Zara last night and think I've found Kate's next purchase! It ticks all her boxes - midi length, long sleeves, high necked - and the colour would look good on her.

I wonder if she actually ventures to her local Zara for a spot of shopping? Or does she do a bulk order online or send her PA out?

That's very Kate!

evilharpy · 24/01/2020 08:52

Ooh yeah that would be perfect on Kate. I think I want it for myself though but am trying to not buy new this year.l..

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/01/2020 09:29

I suspect Kate just pops into a branch of Sara and likes to have a browse like the rest of us.
Well if she wears the dress @QueenOfTheAndals, perhaps it will be a sign that she’s reading these threads!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/01/2020 09:29

Zara, not Sara

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/01/2020 09:31

Princess Caroline is 63 today

Caroline is still beautiful. Imagine if she'd married Charles??? Though the Grimaldis are Catholic so that was never going to happen...

@CurlyWurlyTwirly I reckon she must go to the Zara on the Kings Road, that's by far the nicest branch and seems to be where Trumbull Woodall films most of her IGTV clips. Next time I'm in there I'll keep an eye out for a tall thin brunette with a bouncy blow dry!

I was reading an article today about a Swedish brand called Rave Reviews that make upcycled clothes, and I am predicting that the rather marvellous coats will turn up on CPV soon.

In other news I remember the 80s where it was normal for hair not to be totally sleek all the time. How I long for those days sometimes.

I'm what House of Colour call a 'deep summer' which means cool, dark, muted are my best colours - like these. I love DoC in the same.
Oh. I'm a winter by all the other companies' classifications and these are my winter colours, minus cobalt and true red.

Good choice @QueenOfTheAndals

Chewbecca · 24/01/2020 13:17

thisenglish I'm supposed to wear muted versions of winter's colours. I'm not sure the muted-ness shows up that well on this pic.

frugalkitty · 24/01/2020 13:50

The trouble with that colour swatch is that it's from Kettlewell who aren't the same as House of Colour so some of their colours are a bit dubious.

Winter will be clear and bright, some of our summer colours can look bright but are softened slightly so not as clear as winter.

banivani · 24/01/2020 14:07

My favourite seasonal colours website is this one, I found the "deep autumn" palette very helpful to look at for myself.

banivani · 24/01/2020 14:09

Posted too soon. Meant to say it doesn't have a "deep" summer but a "true" one that seems to fit the bill.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/01/2020 14:26

I'm sure it's a great site @banivani but you didn't post the link!

banviani I love the "ah, feck it" Wink
Are you Swedish or Irish or half n half ?

Gooseysgirl · 24/01/2020 15:59

I read online somewhere (might have been 'Styled by Susie') that Kate is a 'Winter'

frugalkitty · 24/01/2020 16:27

With HoC, the summer season is (or was) broken down into 'cotton ball' (best in pastels like the coloured cotton wool balls), 'sweet pea', 'anemone' and 'brown' (I'm not quite sure where soft or deep came from, I was done in 2001 so I guess they might have recategorised). While a person can wear any shade in their palette, the sub season comes from which are the best colours, the ones you can wear 100% head to foot and look amazing in ('wow' colours). When you get 'done' each colour is given a rating, under 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% and within these, certain colours might be rated again with * for a wow colour, for almost wow and then one or two ticks. So for example, if Kate is a summer she might suit the pastel blue of a certain gown but only really worn as 25% of an outfit which is why as a scarf it would look fab, but not necessarily 100% as a long gown.

beanaseireann · 24/01/2020 17:02

I did ColoureBeautiful and was a Warm Spring. As I had just come back from holiday the stylist asked me to come back after a fortnight as she was a little unsure. I could have been an autumn. On my return visit she was definite I was a Warm Spring.
What's that in HOC ?
I think hair colour has to have an impact though others have said no. Surely its the whole package - hair and skin tone that defines your most suitable colours.
I'd love to go over to London and get my colours done with House of Colour. Smile

What is Kate? Different posters are differing in their opinions.

latedecember1963 · 24/01/2020 17:10

I'm a sweet pea summer. I had my colours re-rated 2 or 3 years ago. In my 30s the soft pastels were my best shades but as I went into my early 50s I felt a bit drained by them. I'm still a summer sweet pea but my consultant said I need to wear deeper shades near my face. I can now wear hyacinth blue, maroon and dark grey as tops whereas 10 years ago the colour would have swamped me.

banivani · 24/01/2020 17:27

Bean I’m 50/50 ;) which means I consider myself Irish or Swedish exactly as it suits me. Ie when I want to give out about how clannish the Irish are I’m Swedish, and when I want to be disdainful about how Swedish people toast with alcohol I’m Irish. Very handy, can recommend.
