As on the previous thread, please critique the outfit rather than criticise the woman and keep Megxit talk for the many many threads already dedicated to that!

I wouldn’t say the York girls are very fashionable , they wear trendy clothes that doesn’t fit or suit them. So they rarely get right sadly.

Leti is very classic and sometimes her clothes are so dated. I always get the feeling she is rushing to a board meeting in the City!

MM did wear some nice things before her pregnancy I agree , and wish she goes back to that phase, the recent stuff is all horrible on her.

I think with the Vogue issue, around that time CP Mary did a similar thing with vogue for the second time! The first was with German vogue , and she went all they way with tiaras and gowns for both covers . it didn’t go very well with many Danish people. Maybe Kate didn’t want to repeat the same predictable formula ?

I wouldn’t want Kate in a gown and tiara on a magazine cover, I could see that on Pin, I’d want to read more about her private life with her family maybe how she chooses and plans her clothes for Big events like Trooping,Wimbledon etc. Which of course she Didn’t reveal!

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 05/02/2020 10:11

I think KM is quite a private person. I don’t think we will ever get to see the ‘real her’ IYSWIM

AppleKatie · 05/02/2020 10:14

Just read the last page back- I didn’t mean her literal shoes 😃 rather her position!

BigGreenOlives · 05/02/2020 11:03

Of course people had heard of Prada by 1995 when Uma Thurman wore a Prada dress to the Oscar’s. They were really big in the early 1990s, I have some beige suede sandals still that I bought in 1994 & I was a early/mid 20s worker in the City. It was sold in Joseph, Matches etc, hardly cutting edge fashion.

frugalkitty · 05/02/2020 11:39

CPM had some lovely photos taken for her 40th birthday too, very natural even though they're weren't in a style that would suit Kate if she went in for that kind of thing.

queenofarles · 05/02/2020 12:01

Uma dress made news because it’s the first evening dress designed by Prada. They didn’t design any evening dress before that. But seeing it after all those years it’s looks soo dated. unlike Julia’s Robert vintage Valentino dress which still looks timeless.

paradyning · 05/02/2020 12:14

Cams today. Loving the coat.

@BigGreenOlives Maybe it was just teenage me in Australia then! I knew about Chanel and Dior and Versace etc but only really started reading more about Prada in the press after Uma's dress. Same with Galliano and Nicole Kidman's chartreuse chinoiserie gown 2 years later.

CarrotVan · 05/02/2020 12:32

That Nicole Kidman gown was stunning.

Galliano was known in the UK but don’t know how global he was.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/02/2020 12:40

We were probably just backwards in Oz! He did Cate Blanchett's gown with the butterflies a couple of years after that which I loved at the time but now looks a bit dated. He was out of favour for several year for anti-semitism but I think more stars are starting to wear him again now.

I don't know if we have covered this - but I saw this picture of Charlene at the recent Saint Devote day. She doesn't look well.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/02/2020 12:56

That's a really sinister photo of Charlene, it looks like it's from the cover of an old Virginia Andrews novel.

Galliano was very whimsical and theatrical, but not easy to translate to everyday wear. Still can’t believe he lasted that long at Dior, he probably had one or two good shows .

MotherofPearl · 05/02/2020 13:09

I like the texture of Camilla's coat, @paradyning.

That picture of Charlene is rather sinister - she never looks really relaxed and happy, as far as I can tell.

BigGreenOlives · 05/02/2020 13:10

Galliano was known in the UK by 1987, pretty sure he was for sale in Harvey Nichols in 1985/6. I have a beautiful jumpsuit by him from 1995 when he was at Givenchy. Sadly it is a bit too snug on me now & too big for my young adult daughters. I lent it to an actress friend who wore it to Cannes Film Festival one year. I last wore it when pregnant with the oldest child Sad. It hasn’t fitted any of their friends either (I’ve kept all my evening dresses from about 1984 onwards).

queenofarles · 05/02/2020 13:42

BigGreen Shock you Should get it valued , Galliano at Givenchy are collector items and they sell for tens of thousands.

AngelaScandal · 05/02/2020 13:49

@thisenglishlife you are an asset to the thread with your collages

@queenofarles why did the Danes not love CPM glammed royal style for Vogue?

BigGreenOlives · 05/02/2020 13:52

I guess I’d like one of them to wear it. I’ve been to some fashion auctions and been shocked by how little things go for. A pair of those two toned Chanel tights, I think that’s the right designer went for £180 but lots of more useful things went for less. My piece is ready to wear, not couture, it was a toss up between that and a skirt & top by Philosophy Di Alberta Ferrerti iirc. Back in the days when I was glam Shock.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/02/2020 14:27

CPM and CPF have had some bad press recently as it turns out they own a holiday chalet in Switzerland that they've been renting out on Airbnb for something like $14,000 a week.

OP posts:
queenofarles · 05/02/2020 14:29

Lately Anything designed by Maqueen Or Galliano sell for well above estimation. I fallow most Auctions and the latest was a jacket he designed in the 80s that went for £70000!
McQueen Armadillo shoes sold for £75000 I think initially it cost £2500.
Westwood 80s are getting up there too. Whoever owns 80s Westwood better hold on to them.

queenofarles · 05/02/2020 14:34

Boscoismyspiritanimal it was basically ball gowns , tiaras , inside palaces, which many thought was unoriginal and showy,

BigGreenOlives · 05/02/2020 16:07

@queenofarles Thank you. I've just had a look on a resale site and I think my jumpsuit and jacket would probably go for €1000 or so. I just told DH and he said leave it for the girls... We'll have to wait and see if either of them develops hips as they move into their mid 20s. I wore my McQueen jeans out, I wore them so much. My Westwood is all mid 2000s so nothing special value wise and I still wear them if I need a black cocktail dress. I don't know how many times I've worn it.

thisenglishlife · 05/02/2020 17:43

Definitely photoshopped but CPM does look good for 48 year mother of four.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/02/2020 18:03

Kate and William are out again next week, visiting a rehab centre with Charles and Camilla. I'm not sure I've seen them do an engagement as a foursome before?

OP posts:
thisenglishlife · 05/02/2020 18:18

Thank you @Boscoismyspiritanimal !

I don't think anyone said that Kate was fashionable, rather that there didn't seem to be anything to suggest that she wasn't into fashion.

She certainly wore trendy and must have items pre wedding.

I think the following dresses are fairly fashionable, I could imagine a magazine editor or actress or someone like Alexa Chung in them.
