As on the previous thread, please critique the outfit rather than criticise the woman and keep Megxit talk for the many many threads already dedicated to that!

There not their 🙈

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 21:04

What was she there for then? It was Vogue!

There's nothing to suggest that Kate isn't interested in fashion. There's a whole team of people involved to make sure she looks great and she's had stylists, seamstresses, tailors and style consultants on her payroll.

She's worn all the 'hottest' and best designers whether it's clothing, shoes, hats, bag, jewellery, etc and had many custom and bespoke pieces made. There's definitely been many items or designers worn whilst they've been popular, new, trendy, etc.

There's also an effort made for many of the outfits to be appropriate or timeless or classic or whatever (not that we can really predict how well clothes would age).

(Not saying any of this as a criticism!)

TSSDNCOP · 04/02/2020 21:17

It happens as soon as you put certain colours together; red and navy, royal blue and orange, orange and brown that you create instant corporate uniform.

I got the boots as soon as the pier/lifeboat/factory shots were printed.

I’m getting a bit worried though. Kate and William are being absolutely idolised by the press at the moment. That usually means a shitstorm of triple magnitude when they put a foot wrong in Tabloidland.

paradyning · 04/02/2020 21:29

I know i am a lonely voice but in answer to
There's nothing to suggest that Kate isn't interested in fashion.

I would say her choice of clothes and accessories would say that. They are not 'fashionable'. They are classic/uninspiring and functional. As they perhaps should be. Not to my personal taste but clearly to hers.

AppleKatie · 04/02/2020 21:32

Different taste to you doesn’t equal ‘uninterested’ though.
I think it would be quite hard to remain completely uninterested in her shoes.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 21:35

Depends what you mean by the word "fashion" I guess. If you mean the latest cutting-edge trends then no, she's probably not that. But if you mean an interest in clothes in general then I'd say yes, she's into that.

OP posts:
queenofarles · 04/02/2020 22:00

I’d say the one thing Kate rarely gets wrong is the way her clothes fit her, everything looks seamless on her and this makes a huge difference to her functional timeless clothes.

thisenglishlife · 04/02/2020 22:16

I'd consider Stuart Weitzman, Gianvito Rossi, Prada, Jimmy Choo, etc accessories pretty 'fashion'.

paradyning · 04/02/2020 22:18

But they don't fit her. The made to measure may do, yes. But the off the peg waists are always wrong. See her flippy skirt suits.

paradyning · 04/02/2020 22:20

Ok I will accept some of her shoe choices are 'fashionable'.
Compare to, say, Meghan or a York Princess or evening Leti. They are more 'fashionable' but less classic.
I would say Kate has some howlers (as do they all) but remains more classic in taste and not fashionable.

paradyning · 04/02/2020 22:25

What I meant to say then is

Ok I will accept some of her shoe choices are 'fashionable'.
But Compare to, say, Meghan or a York Princess or even Leti. Those ladies are more 'fashionable' but less classic generally in their shoe style.
I would say Kate has some howlers (as do they all) but remains more classic in taste and not fashionable.

mathanxiety · 05/02/2020 03:30

Love, love, love that navy double-breasted overcoat on KM. The dress was gorgeous too, very affordable.

And bejaypers, but I bought a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots that are almost exactly the same as hers for $4.99 in my local Goodwill two weeks ago. They are leather where hers are suede.

mrscampbellblackagain · 05/02/2020 05:58

Kate wore those wedges and lk bennett sledges for years - no one really interested in fashion would have done that Wink

I didn't say she doesn't like to look nice but I just get the feeling that fashion isn't that important to her. I seem to remember the vogue cover tied in with a photography exhibition as well. But you know of course that vogue is probably the most prestigious magazine so if you are going to do a cover then makes sense to do vogue. But look what she wore on the cover - no glamorous gown, the whole feature was very much her in the country in normal clothes.

mrscampbellblackagain · 05/02/2020 06:01

I did laugh at your BA joke Queen - reminded me of wearing a similar scarf years ago when I worked in an architects. The men in the office spent a whole day pretending I was an air hostess. I never wore that scarf again.

CarrotVan · 05/02/2020 06:40

FB just promoted a whole bunch of Jolie Moi clothes from John Lewis - all very Kate

paradyning · 05/02/2020 07:34

I rest my case Carrot.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/02/2020 07:37

You think that's weird, we were chatting here about Meghan's handbags and then a week later I got a catalogue in the post for Demellier!

Camilla and Charles at a reception last night. Can't decide about the spotty dress - thoughts? She generally looks pretty good to me, and knows her style.

She looks fine but who is that on the gold gown? It looks spectacular from one side (albeit a bit Joseph of dreamcoat fame) but not so good from the other.

Surely if you are a celeb and/or regular designer-wear customer paying the full listed price for anything is like paying full price at Pizza Express on a monday at lunch time?!

Admittedly, I dint buy such clothing but I suspect the official price and what people pay is different. Hell, even when buying a new car a few years ago there was the price marked in the showroom and then as soon as we sat down the salesperson told us the actual price was lower......

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/02/2020 09:03

Yes, a lot of celebs will get their clothes heavily discounted as the exposure the designer gets on the red carpet is priceless. Not many people had heard of Prada or Elie Saab until Uma Thurman and Halle Berry wore them to the Oscars back in the day. And of course their jewels are usually borrowed!

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/02/2020 09:05

Nice photo of CPM. Definitely photoshopped a bit but she looks lovely nonetheless!

Yes, it does seem like there might have been some work done Wink.
