As on the previous thread, please critique the outfit rather than criticise the woman and keep Megxit talk for the many many threads already dedicated to that!

When you've earned the £65K yourself! Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 17:03

Wasn't it Meghan's engagement dress that's rumoured to have cost £65k? So she may well have paid for it herself or borrowed it from a designer like a lot of actresses do.

A bit of high street is good but if we have to have a royal family then I also want a bit of designer fashion and bling!

I may be wrong & I think other posters have said similar but I think the whole ‘Waity Katie’ time were actually spent learning the ropes. The equivalent of the Swedish prince/princess school. I think that whatever training Kate had away from the public eye has stood her in good stead.

FramboiseRoyale · 04/02/2020 17:08

She may have been learning through observation, but I doubt that there was a concerted effort by the RF to teach her. And she and William broke up during part of that time.

Rhubarbisevil · 04/02/2020 17:15

I think one of the reasons why Kate is a successful Royal is because they are not supposed to be like us. Kate is not like us because she has a super human iron will to keep herself Uber slender, tones, fit and perfectly groomed. She makes Hollywood A listers look frumpy. Yes she has domestic and childcare help, yes she has a personal trainer but she is in control of what she puts in her mouth and this is why she is not like the rest of us (well, me). She has a 2:1 so she has a brain as well as beauty.

Good for her. If she ever falls apart at home then we sure as hell don’t know about it.

Llareggub · 04/02/2020 17:30

You don’t visit Mumbles without going to Joe’s Ice Cream Parlour, whatever the weather.

Also, it’s very mild here today. I did the school run in a t shirt and leather jacket. If I was walking down the pier to the lifeboat I would definitely be in flat boots. It’s wooden and pretty slippery when wet, and very windy of course.

frugalkitty · 04/02/2020 17:34

I love the sleeves on Kate's red dress today, but I'm not so keen on the black belt. I haven't seen a proper full length dress photo yet though but I think she looked good today. And you can't go to Swansea without going to an ice cream parlour peach melba helped me through my uni years there Grin

I thought members of the RF were not allowed to do that?

The taxpayer must have paid for the £90,000 Dior gown that she wore to the Ambassador's reception in Morocco

ajandjjmum · 04/02/2020 17:41

That was stunning Lunde - I loved it - she looked absolutely beautiful.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 17:42

She wasn't technically a member of the royal family then @Lunde!

Precicely.

A vanilla cone with chocolate vermicelli. To die for!

thisenglishlife · 04/02/2020 17:50

The scarf is darling
I like the red on Kate
The belt was a good choice
The bag looks a new Mulberry

The split navy coat, red midi dress and flat duo material black boot combination don't go together at all
The dress material looks like a cheap, fast fashion material

I'm not sure what their target market is but I'm assuming it's people who dress in the dark

With you on Zara - I just don't get it. But then millions seem to, so maybe I'm just not the target shape market.

Kate does do a sterling job - hats, and headbands, off to her. But for the love of god, could she wear fewer double-breasted overcoats?

And I see Wills is back in his natty (not natty) jumper and jacket combo. Though this one is slightly less hideous. Please, HRH - a shirt and jacket or a jumper and overcoat (of any kind). No mixing!

itswinetime · 04/02/2020 18:00

I don't think it's a new mulberry bag it looks like this one to be but with the chain removed/tucked in

thisenglishlife · 04/02/2020 18:10

Ah, you might be right @itswinetime I thought that the Darley was thicker than that side on.

Some more red outfits.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 18:12

Going to be controversial here but I don't think that tomato shade of red really suits Kate. The deeper red of the last outfit there looks much better and doesn't overpower her.

The taxpayer must have paid for the £90,000 Dior gown that she wore to the Ambassador's reception in Morocco
Charles paid for it, And the wedding dress,
The Morocco trip was not a royal tour as they just planned it themselves.

Regarding Zara, I think they are truly trying to be sustainable and ethical, so I’m seeing lots of nice things lately, they have a few natural fibers stuff that are really well made,
it certainly beats some of the higher end Stuff ,

also a stylist told me that lots of stylists take inspiration from Zara lately,

queenofarles · 04/02/2020 18:15

I’m not a big fan of Kates Ode to BA outfit.

Lunde · 04/02/2020 18:46

Thanks for the info

Although it was a great dress - I really don't get blowing almost £100K on a maternity gown that would likely only get at max a couple of wears.

thisenglishlife · 04/02/2020 18:47

The cabin crew look (I do like the blazer though)

Royal style: from pussy bows to furbelows
BigGreenOlives · 04/02/2020 19:05

I think she looks cabin crew because she has such an open accessible smiley face. Another woman in her late 30s would look very severe, instead she looks very relatable. Following these threads I’ve been impressed by how attractive she is and how engaged she is day after day. I’m a bigger fan now than I was before the threads started.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 19:10

No, for me it's more the colour combination!

That bottom left hand photo is stunning.

mrscampbellblackagain · 04/02/2020 20:42

Currently reading Norman Baker book about the RF. the whole duchy income seems to be slightly murky so saying Charles pays isn't necessarily true. Well he may write the cheque but unclear as to how much the taxpayer subsidises really.

Not a fan of Kate's look today but I just don't think she is that into fashion.

I know she was on the cover of vogue but Alexandra shulmans book about that time makes it clear that Kate wasn't their for the fashion.

mrscampbellblackagain · 04/02/2020 20:43

He is also quite scathing about the queen and how rubbish a lot of her appearances are so clearly some bias there.
