As on the previous thread, please critique the outfit rather than criticise the woman and keep Megxit talk for the many many threads already dedicated to that!

Like Kate's outfit today. Have you all noticed Kate seems to have dropped the etiquette rules that forbade the removal of coats? She took off her coat last week & today. I approve!! It allows her to move into separates and more modern outfits.

I'm guessing she thought while all the hoo-ha went on last week. 'F*ck this for a game of soldiers, I'm taking off my bloody coat!' This summer she might even venture into open-toed shoes and ditch the tights!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/01/2020 15:04

@MotherOfPearl the outfit is cheap - it's Zara!

Audacity I agree completely. I dress for comfort first, whether it's size, fabric or anything else. I can't wear wool, as an example, it makes me it. Although I admit that if I was three stone lighter thinner, I would wear some things that I don't wear now because some things can look better on a smaller frame. But that might be to do with lack of confidence as much as anything else.

frugalkitty · 22/01/2020 15:12

Wool makes me itch...not it. Autocorrect is so annoying, and MN really needs an edit option!

TipseyTorvey · 22/01/2020 15:20

Thanks Queen for new thread. Slightly off topic but loved that pic of Wallis Simpson with the green emerald and suddenly thought how stylish she was and what would she wear now if she was current. Bet she'd have had amazing style. I know, I know she was a nazi but I'm just curious 😉

MakeMineALargeProsecco · 22/01/2020 15:25

Loving Kate's look - am amazed she can walk in these heels though!

Gooseysgirl · 22/01/2020 15:36

I think Kate looks great today! But crikey she's thin. Love the hair too as always. But my favourite thing of all is the attention she is drawing to the need for support in the early years no thanks to the obliteration of the Surestart budget but I won't get political. link to the early years '5 Big Questions' for anyone who wants to complete the survey, only takes a couple of mins!

beanaseireann · 22/01/2020 15:38

Thank you QueenoftheAndals for the new thread.
Kate looks great.

BigGreenOlives · 22/01/2020 15:52

Thank you for the new thread. Good to see DOC visiting places outside London.

thisenglishlife · 22/01/2020 16:00

I like the top and skirt. The skirt material does look a bit cheap/fast fashion though.

The camel coat doesn't quite work, but I still kind of like it. (How many coats does she have though?)

I don't think these are the best colours on Kate though, a bit draining.

I'm not a fan of the pointy witchy boots though and they are too loose on the ankle and calf.

I love Kate's skirt. You need narrow hips for pleats though so no good for me. Leopard print was a bold choice, it's very "Bad Girls"!

thisenglishlife · 22/01/2020 16:15

I liked the skirt too!

Kate's hair looks a bit dry and damaged compared to previous years. Not so smooth. Would love to see her with darker hair again, although it might be to do with the grey.

I would think three pregnancies in a short space of time might play havoc with hair condition.

Plus she is older so more greys start popping up.

It's annoying being a brunette when the greys start appearing!!! So much easier to be blonde!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/01/2020 17:28

Sophie is in Sierra Leone today.
She is quite awesome in how she is frequently in conflict areas.
She will be the next Princess Anne in terms of Quantities of Engagements when her children are grown

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/01/2020 17:49

@EmGee I'm greying in reverse, which is weird. I only spot a few greys from time to time but sometimes they're grey at the end but dark at the roots!

Kate may well be steering away from longer appointments with her hair stylist before events too. With three children at home and all the recent hooha, maybe she's sticking around at home more in the mornings and evenings?

I loved the link to the Simpson auction - there is some stunning jewellery and paraphenalia in there. Having seen a revival in brooches recently (thank you, Lady Hale), would anyone like to wear this in public, please?

Seeing that now women can be in the Royal Marines could Sophie be appointed Captain General?
Or do you have had to have been a marine to do that duty?

Wetdogloveshubert · 22/01/2020 17:55

@EmGee and @QueenOfTheAndals (thank you for the new thread Crown Smile) I'm suffering with the same. I remember seeing an aunt going grey gracefully and getting laughed at, very cruelly, within the family. With whites beginning to appear I'm determined not to dye!

The pictures of Sophie are lovely. She is a brilliant representative of HM.

frugalkitty · 22/01/2020 18:15

I've just remembered that I had a dream about our threads last night......eyes everyone suspiciously.....because someone other than Queen had started the new one! For the life of me I can't remember who it was though and I did just check that Queen had indeed started this one Quite what that's all about I don't know Grin

StCharlotte · 22/01/2020 18:23

I think Curly kindly started one way back in the early days, when Queen was otherwise engaged. We coped Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/01/2020 18:37

Oh dear, looks like Charlie Boy took a private jet to Davos. Best not tell Greta. Even better is the reason given for it - his usual jet had mechanical issues!

MotherofPearl · 22/01/2020 19:07

I think that's spot on about the colour of that coat being really draining on Kate. You can see it in the picture @thisenglishlife posted up thread. To me that photo makes a great case for her wearing darker shades of lipstick. A warm plum coloured lipstick would have helped her to look less washed out.

Pieceofpurplesky · 22/01/2020 19:19

I think she looks great. Thanks for the thread Queen

skinqueen · 22/01/2020 19:30

@itswinetime Necklace looks like a Daniella Draper necklace

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/01/2020 19:33

A lot of Kings and Crown princes arriving in Israel for 75th Holocaust memorial
