As on the previous thread, please critique the outfit rather than criticise the woman and keep Megxit talk for the many many threads already dedicated to that!

Love those pictures of CPV's hair down - it really softens her face.

I agree that Kate should rewear that strapless black velvet dress. I loved the navy one she wore to the diplomatic reception last year, and at least she wore it with plenty of proper bling.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/02/2020 21:21

Kate was so tan in 2012!

I far prefer the dress with sheer sleeves, they look more delicate & in keeping.

paradyning · 03/02/2020 21:55

Brrr it's cold. And it's winter. Not Malaysia. I know. Let's line the sleeves with silk. That'll do it.

Spanish opening of parliament. Not keen on Leti's asymmetrical hemline but I quite like the cape and her hair looks great up. The Spanish princesses are beautifully dressed.

Tanned Kate

I love your photo collages @thisenglishlife!

Yoyomar · 03/02/2020 22:46

I saw Kate during her tanned phase when she came to my city with William and the Queen.

She was just a few feet away from me and while she was absolutely beautiful the main thought I had was that she was as brown as Jodie Marsh (she was famous at that time).

I felt like a traitor thinking such thoughts, but she was so very tanned Grin

pallisers · 03/02/2020 23:02

I wish she'd rewear this one - whatkatewore.com/tag/kate-middleton-jenny-packham-blue-dress/ - the one she wore to the Spectre premiere. It's so beautiful and elegant!

I love everything about that look - the hair, the dress, the shoes (and she is not good with shoes) the bag. Especially love that hair do on her

justasking111 · 03/02/2020 23:07

There are some beautiful shoes Kate can choose from but chooses not to. I do wonder if she worries about falling or tripping so goes for more substantial ones.

FramboiseRoyale · 03/02/2020 23:09

I think Kate is interested in fashion. It's possible to be interested in fashion and still make safe, conservative choices for oneself. Interest in fashion doesn't necessarily equate with liking to be cutting edge.

frugalkitty · 03/02/2020 23:43

Kate's pale blue Spectre gown is my favourite so I'm glad to see others liking it too because when I've mentioned it before the consensus has been that the colour isn't right for her. I think it's fab and would wear it myself if I had the figure/money/occasion to. I think it remoulds make a nice wedding dress actually.

frugalkitty · 03/02/2020 23:44

Remoulds???? Eh? Confused would make a nice wedding dress!

pastaparadise · 04/02/2020 00:44

Tbh I'm very envious that Kate can look so good in a gown from 8 years ago, after 3 dc, the third not that long ago. i can still fit into clothes from pre dc but my shape has altered so i just dont look as good. Just as well i can wear old jumpers and dont need to get papped wearing a tight gown though maybe that would give me Kate's motivation...

mathanxiety · 04/02/2020 04:17

@Rhubarbisevil - I agree that the intention was to set herself apart from the other gowns and their wearers. She succeeded very well imo.

mathanxiety · 04/02/2020 04:19

She did this before, in LA, at a BAFTA event where she transcended fashion and Hollywood and presented herself on a plane several notches higher than all of that:

banivani · 04/02/2020 06:23

Framboise you have a point. I’m interested in fashion (in a lazy way) but you wouldn’t know it to look at me.

I do think it would be fun if she’d showcase up and coming UK designers.

SunshineCake · 04/02/2020 06:58

Wedding dress looking May 29th.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 07:06

Now that dress was far more red carpet worthy @mathanxiety!

OP posts:
beanaseireann · 04/02/2020 07:36

mathanxiety Kate looks fabulous in that photo. The dress is so much nicer than the recent BAFTA one.

StCharlotte · 04/02/2020 07:48

I think lining the sleeves was right as it removed the "visible bra strap" look from the previous version. Although they should have been lined all the way.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2020 07:48

@SunshineCake ??

OP posts:
frugalkitty · 04/02/2020 07:49

Fab photo math that summer was one of Kate's best seasons, she wore some fabulous gowns on that visit.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 04/02/2020 09:21

The Spanish princesses have beautiful hair!

DevonUkelele · 04/02/2020 09:46

Maybe @SunshineCake meant Bea's wedding date... the DM says May 29 is looking likely, and St James Palace is out as a venue because Andy is no longer actively associated with military causes.

True or not? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️.

I never had a big, high society wedding, or indeed a big wedding at all - but does a touch over two months seem enough warning time for all your invitees?

I know they could have had "save the dates", but still, I might have expected it to leak earlier if that were the case.

Sorry - veered very much into gossip and away from style. FWIW, I thought Kate's BAFTA dress was an odd choice too, particularly around the bodice. Love that pic of the barmaid from a PP - very true!

Not a great fan of the drapey ice blue number either. But at least it's glam.
