As on the previous thread, please critique the outfit rather than criticise the woman and keep Megxit talk for the many many threads already dedicated to that!

Love the dress, do not think the jewellery is worth 13k though

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/02/2020 20:03

I'm a underwhelmed by most of tonight's gowns. Zoe Kravitz is still BOG (best on ground) for me!

It looks better in motion but the overall look is a bit matronly.

itswinetime · 02/02/2020 20:11

I think I thought people would be a bit more creative with the theme sustainability....re working classic gowns in to something new instead of just either re wearing or wearing a sustainable designer I just think it's a theme that could have been really interesting but isn't maybe that's just me though

ajandjjmum · 02/02/2020 20:13

There are some horrors there tonight.

hopeishere · 02/02/2020 20:15

There's definitely a few misses. Florence Pugh's dress is wearing her! And Edith Bowman - nice dress but the belt and gloves are terrible with it.

MotherofPearl · 02/02/2020 20:20

My favourite is Greta Gerwig's emerald green velvet with the sparkly straps. But then as I've said before, I adore velvet!

paradyning · 02/02/2020 20:25

Princess Eug out and about in her Carvelas again tonight.

Kate's shoes are Jimmy Choo.
According to this tweet, Princess Madeleine wore exactly the same shoes and bag last year (looking incredible)

Ugh, I don’t like that dress at all. I thought the same when she wore it first time around - was it the Pakistan tour? It’s so fussy.

Why can’t she wear something really sleek and sophisticated for a change?

SpokeTooSoon · 02/02/2020 20:29

Oh sorry, Malaysian reception.
It’s just a bit “boho” and not glamorous enough.

Imagine having a figure like hers. She can wear ANYTHING and that’s what she comes up with?

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/02/2020 20:37

The gown is fine but she's worn others before that had more of a wow factor. And the BAFTAs are a night when you should definitely go big!

OP posts:
MotherofPearl · 02/02/2020 20:39

Yes I agree that the dress is too fussy.

Dozer · 02/02/2020 20:44

Ooh, great Vogue Bafta dress link QueenoftheAndals!

Love zoe kravitz’s, especially the red earrings. Also like Siaorse Ronan’s black dress, Daisy Ridley’s (for the super thin only, that dress) and Greta Gerwig’s green velvet, great colour, bling straps and the shape suits her.

Not keen on Kate’s: too summery.

Laiste · 02/02/2020 20:52

Perhaps Kate asked Madeleine where she got her lovely blingy shoes? Grin

I like the dress. I find the bodice thing very ... early 1800s. Regency period when boob enhancing was all the rage but without the invention of the push up bra.

I agree with pp that it would be nice to see her in a stunningly simple, sleek fitted dress. Maybe in plum, dark peacock or black with a big up-do and bare shoulders. Showcase some massive royal rocks and cause a stir. No need to compete with all the flashy/sparkly/feathery/'more is more' dresses IMO.

SpokeTooSoon · 02/02/2020 21:06

To give Kate some credit tonight, her makeup is beautiful and the overall look with the hair is perfection.

Just put a stunning, simple gown on!

(I also wish she’d stop slouching when she walks: shoulder down, chest out, head up - walk tall you beautiful woman!!)

justasking111 · 02/02/2020 21:15

Friend wore those jimmy choo shoes for her wedding they are gorgeous.

SunshineCake · 02/02/2020 21:19

The jewellery does match the dress in the shape..

justasking111 · 02/02/2020 21:21

Do the royals ever wear Sophia Webster shoes?

paradyning · 02/02/2020 21:26

Think she's more Meg's style.

paradyning · 02/02/2020 21:29

The shape may match but the jewellery still doesn't go with the dress of the occasion. She never nails accessorises.
Wonder why she lined the sleeves. The dress looked marginally better in it's original form.

StCharlotte · 02/02/2020 21:37

That is my all time favourite Kate evening dress along with the pale blue Paris shimmerer. Not keen on the hair but at least it's up.

While I'm here, was watching Call the Midwife and thought Jenny Agutter would have been perfect as the Queen.

BlingLoving · 02/02/2020 21:38

She looks fine and I like the bodice it's just that this is an opportunity for super glam and a bit sexy. In the arrival video the dress of the woman walking in with them would look great on her.

Catrescue1971 · 02/02/2020 21:42

I do recognise Kate's style of dress. However (and I feel a bit old, uncouth and critical saying this) but it looks like her bra has slipped out of a low cut dress - at least from a distance. I'm sorry but to me it really does. As ever she still manages to look elegant and beautiful though, despite this.

chesterpester · 02/02/2020 21:43

Can't see any Bafta threads so dipping in. Renée's dress looked amazing. Charlize looked great in that shade. I don't understand how beautiful Margot + gorgeous Chanel = doesn't work. I hate the bodice on Kate's dress, it's so frumpy.
