M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Writersblock2 · 21/09/2019 15:53

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

I’ve used the mascara this morning. I like it - it’s not brilliant but it’s made my lashes lovely and long. It’s not thickening enough for me to switch permanently though.

Doubleraspberry · 03/12/2019 07:13

I like today’s product. Is it too early to say what it is?

SymphonyofShadows · 03/12/2019 07:15

I like it too, it’s something I use.

wellthatsjustgreat · 03/12/2019 07:34

I'm looking forward to trying this. I quit using eye cream a few years ago and instead just use my light day cream on my whole face inc eye area. I've noticed absolutely no difference so am a bit sceptical about eye creams......but, I'd be happy to find something that makes a big difference to my tired eyes Smile

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 03/12/2019 07:52

I think the general consensus is post 7am and on the relevant day to avoid spoilers :)

Not minding todays, though as a poster above has mentioned I'm a little skeptical about eye cream because I'm using one from last years calendar and I haven't noticed a difference. That could just be because of the product though so I'm very happy to try another brand.

So, number 3.

Formula Absolute targeted treatment for eye and lip cream

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 03/12/2019 07:57

Is anyone else's eye cream lacking the foil tab? Most lotions and potions have them these days, I was surprised that this didn't!
I still used it though. It felt nice and light and sunk in well. I am rubbish at remembering to use eye creams but will try to give this a go!

Butterymuffin · 03/12/2019 08:02

I have stuff I use for this anyway, but am fine with trying a new product. When I opened it the tube was face down and I assumed it was the sleep cream, which has been in the calendar for the last two years, so it's good to have a different item from that range to try.

Butterymuffin · 03/12/2019 08:03

Mine doesn't have a foil tab. I am using another cream at the moment so won't start this straight away. Generally though I'm going to try and use stuff immediately this year.

Luvacuppatea · 03/12/2019 08:09

No foil tab on mine either, but I’ll (probably) give this a go sometime. I’m running this calendar alongside Fortnum and Mason and so far over 3 days have amassed 3 eye creams and 2 mascaras 😳. This Formula eye stuff Is said to take 8 weeks to show improvement - not sure I have that much patience especially when one of my F&M products claims instant results! Interested to hear how everyone gets on with it..........

HollyHocks13 · 03/12/2019 08:10

Mine didn't have a foil tab either although in my haste to get it open and bung it on eyes I didn't notice!
It feels nice on my eyes, I also put it on my lips which feels a bit weird... is it supposed to go through n your lips or around them?

HollyHocks13 · 03/12/2019 08:11
  • ON your lips... not through!
Bansku19 · 03/12/2019 08:12

I used all the products received so far today on me. I don't think I will buy any of them again. They are not bad but I know better products.

Butterymuffin · 03/12/2019 08:13

@HollyHocks13 I also wondered that. Then I checked and it says on the back 'pat around the lip' Wink

Doubleraspberry · 03/12/2019 08:29

Presumably it is for the fine lines around your lips? Should you have them!

I got two eye creams today and neither had foil lids.

HollyHocks13 · 03/12/2019 08:41

Butterymuffin - that explains why it felt strange actually on my lips!

Beadstar · 03/12/2019 08:48

I don’t use separate eye cream normally but I’m willing to give this a go; I’ve applied some already. Will also use around my lips, I have no need to really but might as well!

LEELULUMPKIN · 03/12/2019 08:52

I am pleased with this as my eyes and lips are the bits of my face that need the most attention.

Having said that the size is disappointing if it takes 8 weeks to show improvement. Surely there is not enough product in this size to see if it does work.

A full size would have been much better for something like this.

CointreauVersial · 03/12/2019 08:59

Eyes AND Lips? Seems a bit odd. Confused

I love an eye cream, but I have a bit of a stockpile at the moment, because a little goes a looooong way. I love the Formula range, though, so I'm sure it's good.

Beadstar · 03/12/2019 09:07

15ml tends to be full size for eye cream I think. You only use a tiny bit and when I have had them in the past they’ve lasted for ages!

PrincessWatermelon · 03/12/2019 09:08

I'm happy enough with this. I already use an eye cream - you only need a tiny amount and the normal full size is 15ml that I normally get (either Clarins or No7). So this is full size. Takes me ages to get though the tube despite using morning and night! Although using round the lips as well will increase use... I bought the Formula calendar as well, so I suspect I need to enjoy this twice!

LEELULUMPKIN · 03/12/2019 09:20

Righty-oh I will give it a go then and see how long it lasts me. Just shows how often I buy stuff like this!

PrincessWatermelon · 03/12/2019 09:46

Yes, I just doubted myself so did a google. The full size product is 15ml, £18. Is ours definitely 15ml too?

Reminds me - should we have a daily tally of how much our goods are worth? £18 for today, day 3.

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 03/12/2019 10:02

Just joining the thread. Last year was my first M & S advent calendar.
Wish I'd known about these threads then.
I already have the Aveda product as it was in a beauty editors best product recommendations but really happy to get another.

8misskitty8 · 03/12/2019 10:45

It says it’s 15ml which is the full size you buy. Only difference is it comes in a jar in the shops.
Jarred eye cream looks bigger as often companies have a thick bottom on them to give the illusion of more product.

Beadstar · 03/12/2019 11:09

I’ve just received an email from M&S about the first product (advertising the rest of the range). Those who bought online and are saving it till January might not be happy!
