M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Writersblock2 · 21/09/2019 15:53

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

Not sure how I feel about today’s eye and lip cream. I don’t often use stuff like this, but I guess I’ll give it a crack!

What do you mean @Beadstar ?

Butterymuffin · 03/12/2019 11:33

You mean @Beadstar that the email will be a spoiler for those saving it till January? To be fair, I don't think M&S are aware of Jadvent... we do things differently on here!

LEELULUMPKIN · 03/12/2019 11:41

Yes I have just had that email too! Maybe someone should inform M&S HQ! lol!

Beadstar · 03/12/2019 11:45

Yes, that’s what I mean. People on other threads have been complaining about spoilers. I imagine most people will be opening in December though.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/12/2019 11:45

Not sure M & S will care, they put in the email it was 'tips' but the 'tip' seemed to be, come and buy it and give us your money...lol. Who was the lovely MNer who did the accounting for the running totals last year? Anyone without a menopausal brain remember?

Beadstar · 03/12/2019 11:50

It doesn’t bother me, just thinking of the people who have been complaining elsewhere (not sure why they can’t just avoid the threads)!

I had the look fantastic calendar a couple of years ago and liked the updates on the website each day. Though that was more useful with application hints and tips on each product, this just seems like advertising for the rest of the range.

Beadstar · 03/12/2019 11:52

Yes, I just went back and checked and it does say top tips - I couldn’t find any...

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/12/2019 11:57

Yes, just liars! (Hope their pants set on fire)

MrsWidgerysLodger · 03/12/2019 12:15

Not usually an eye cream user but I'll add this into the routine to see how it fares. Unless it works miracles it's unlikely I'd repurchase though. Might repurchase the hair stuff from day 1 however as I'm noticing less flyaways and fuzziness on my bonce since using it.

MirandaWest · 03/12/2019 12:37

I’m useless at remembering to use eye cream so will try and use mine every day and see if there’s any difference Grin

Sammi38 · 03/12/2019 13:10

I probably won’t use the cream on my eyes, just around my lips as I have a miracle eye cream (in my opinion) that really has made a difference, so don’t want to undo my progress!

Still really impressed with the hair repair from day 1 though.

Ponks · 03/12/2019 13:43

Ah Sammi do share what the miracle eye cream is!

Sammi38 · 03/12/2019 13:52

Ahh sorry, wasn’t deliberately trying to be coy, it’s the Lancôme absolue yeux precious cells.

I’ve used every eye cream from £10 to £240, and this is the only one that has really made a difference to dark circles and fine lines, it also doesn’t cause any irritation, as I have really sensitive eyes.

ReeRi · 03/12/2019 14:43

I was going to ask the same thing @Sammi38! I will be looking into that...

Today’s thing is ok but never really used an eye and lip cream...

Outlookmainlyfair · 03/12/2019 15:22

Hey found this how exciting! It will prompt me to use the products - I still have the eye cream from 2 years back.

Bobbybobbins · 03/12/2019 16:14

Ah just wondered why my lips felt a bit odd but pleased to see I had used the cream wrongly 😂
Really liking the hair product from day 1. Not tried the mascara yet. My first year with a beauty advent calendar and really enjoying it so far.

PrincessWatermelon · 03/12/2019 16:38

I used the hair product today. As I'm super curly I was uncertain. So I put it from mid length down and then used normal serum and mousse when damp and then curl cream when dry. I have some awesome ringlets going on!! V happy. It can vary from wash to wash, so it could just be that today was a good hair day, but the signs seem positive...

NotGenerationAlpha · 03/12/2019 17:04

I used the aveda dry damaged hair today too as it was looking very dry and frizzy this morning. I have a short bob cut and I applied it from the mid-length down. It worked really well and my hair looked very smooth today.

didedonglydee · 03/12/2019 17:12

Just joining in a bit late! Had a Liberty calendar the last 2 years but couldn't justify the cost this year and everyone raves about M&S. Pleased with Day 1 and 2 will definitely use both. Today's Eye/Lip cream I'm not sure about as I've got loads of eye creams that seem to last for ever and I'm not very good at remembering to use them!

latedecember1963 · 03/12/2019 17:31

Hello, SpongeBobJudgeyPants 🙋‍♀️. Love your name, by the way.
It was me who did the tallying up each day.
I was all set to get a calendar again this year but my ancient Zafira has had to have some work done on it so I've had to make economies.
I'm still going to be dropping by though and enjoying everyone's comments as I look forward to this thread each year. Hopefully, normal service will resume next year.

latedecember1963 · 03/12/2019 17:32

I'm not sure where the pink square came from. I was trying to wave!

LEELULUMPKIN · 03/12/2019 17:33

Welcome didedonglydee! I think you made a wise decision. It is the first year for both Liberty and M&S for me and so far the M&S one is winning hands down.

Batshittery · 03/12/2019 17:50

It looks like a wave to me late

The eye cream is perfect for me as I was going to buy one. I can give this a try. Never used the brand before.

MissMatty2hats · 03/12/2019 18:31

I always rub what's left of my eye cream on my ring fingers into the fine lines around my lips anyway. I remember reading Trinny did it so it's quite nice to be reassured that I'm not wasting my time.
I'm really pleased with today's offering, I'm just at the end of my current eye cream and have been putting off buying one in the hope of getting one here.
