M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Writersblock2 · 21/09/2019 15:53

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

My first year doing this too. Lovely product today. Look forward to trying it. Excited for the rest too.

Peanutbatter · 01/12/2019 13:25

Just opened mine, Cut the flaps with a knife. Inside looks better than outside, am struggling to display it without it falling over.
The M&S calendar I had before was in the shape of a cabin and was a lovely thing so this is a bit meh.
Hair product looks like it wont be much good for my greasy rats tails either, roll on tomorrow...

SillyUnMurphy · 01/12/2019 13:39

I’m really pleased with this. I’ve just been swimming so I’m looking forward to giving it a try when I wash my hair

SunshineCake · 01/12/2019 14:06

Afternoon everyone.

I was very impressed with my first ever AC that wasn't chocolate or pictures though would have loved a picture one too.

I am pleased with the Aveda Hair remedy as certainly not something I would just buy myself but a nice treat to try as pricier than what I would normally buy.

Batshittery · 01/12/2019 14:08

Hello everyone
Can I join you?
I'm really pleased with todays offering. I already use other Aveda products and love the brand. My boxes slipped this morning as it didn't occur to me to lay it flat to remove the box. Lesson learned Grin

SunshineCake · 01/12/2019 14:11

Welcome BatshitterySmile. I've never had Aveda. Is it a good brand ethically as well as product wise ? I may be getting confused but I once bought some hand cream thinking it was a good product and DD said it wasn't. I can't think it was Aveda. Maybe Aveena ? Confused.

Peanutbatter · 01/12/2019 14:22

DS just walked in said "whats that, it looks like a dartboard!"

MrsWidgerysLodger · 01/12/2019 14:22

Checking in for day one and also impressed. Not used this before but will try it in the morning and report back. Really liked last year's calendar so looking forward to this year.

CointreauVersial · 01/12/2019 14:23

Strong start, M&S, strong start! Aveda is a good brand, and I've not tried the product, but it looks good.

CointreauVersial · 01/12/2019 14:30

I do love these threads! My claim to fame is that I was the OP for the first "open along with me" thread for the very first M&S Advent Calendar, in 2015.

Back then, the whole of December was covered in 185 posts. It was a bit of a novelty back then; I wonder how many they sold? 1st December 2019, and we're already at 110 posts. Grin

Batshittery · 01/12/2019 14:42

Aveda is a good brand, I think. It's cruelty free, strong on recycling, uses plant based ingredients and I believe ethically sound.

Bumbl · 01/12/2019 14:48

I love this thread! I weirdly save mine until Christmas day and open all at once but love to see what's inside each day

Luvacuppatea · 01/12/2019 14:52

Well, just washed my hair and used the product for the first time - have to say I’m really impressed. My hair is fine and generally ‘fly away’ but right now it’s smooth and shiny despite being blasted with a hairdryer. Great start to the calendar- now I just want tomorrow morning to come around quickly haha......l.

pierpressure · 01/12/2019 14:53

So pleased I found this thread. Hello all!
Loved it last year and did a great swap!
Pleased with the Aveda, glad I read this, as had assumed it was a conditioner. Will try later.
I like the look of the Calendar, but they really need to consider how it displays. It doesn’t work standing up, as a lot of the boxes won’t balance well. Having had it all collapse all over the floor already, I’m trying to find a place where it can look lovely , not fall and not be destroyed by an Airedale terrier!

Keepsmiling1 · 01/12/2019 14:56

I read this thread last year even though I didn't have one and loved it. It was the first thing I read each morning when I woke up! This year I bought one and I am so excited! I love today's product. Never used it before but it was only last week my hairdresser was telling me I have dry hair so hopefully this will help. I have longish hair - is it just the middle/ends I put it on as opposed to the roots?

Bansku19 · 01/12/2019 15:44

I tried the Aveda product. It was nice but I prefer Tigi.

Writersblock2 · 01/12/2019 16:02

I love these threads. Possibly more than the calendars themselves. 😇

I do the CGM so it’s a regift for me,but a great brand and I know plenty of friends who will love this .

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/12/2019 17:52

I have greasy hair, so I don’t know if I will use it. How do I use it?

If I had damaged hair it would be excellent as it’s full size.

MelanieFrontage · 01/12/2019 18:31

I love the hair product, my hair is a mess due to over bleaching and this should really help its condition.

I’m also going to keep the box and refill for my mum next year.

ReeRi · 01/12/2019 18:34

I use it on the mid lengths to ends of my hair after and then style as normal. I wouldn’t recommend using it near the roots

ReeRi · 01/12/2019 18:35

Good for you @CointreauVersial Not enough credit is given for originality! There are loads of these threads now for different calendars but good for you being the first 😊

MirandaWest · 01/12/2019 18:37

Have opened mine - looking torward to using it Smile Never used any Aveda products before

ajandjjmum · 01/12/2019 18:41

OK - instructions for a simpleton. Wash and condition hair as normal, use Aveda product on mid to ends to hair, mousse as normal, blowdry.

Is that about right?

ReeRi · 01/12/2019 18:43

Yes I would say so @ajandjjmum It says to use a small amount but I use about a 5p sized amount on my nipple length hair 😬
