M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Writersblock2 · 21/09/2019 15:53

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

I am also happy with today's, will pop in my bag. Though it could have been a bit of a bigger size as it isn't an overly expensive product. I think this one smells of baby lotion.

Retailqueenie · 18/12/2019 07:35

Boring & tiny tube... but good quality I suppose. The calendar seems to have nose dived a bit for me, I am still waiting for a lipstick & some exciting new stuff to try.... Xmas Hmm

PrincessWatermelon · 18/12/2019 07:41

I'm happy to have a hand cream, but it is very small. I'm sure we had more make up last year - I loved the blusher and a lip gloss I think.

AndAnon · 18/12/2019 07:53

Bit boring and very small. Good brand but we’ve definitely had a bigger one in previous years.

I’ve got quite a few of these. Will use it eventually but not exciting.

At the moment I am thinking after three years I’ll go for a different calendar next year, this one is getting samey. I like it, I’m not excited by it!

Butterymuffin · 18/12/2019 08:15

It is all right but small. And they do nice scents in this - almond, cherry blossom - so they could have given us one of those instead of 'plain'.

Writersblock2 · 18/12/2019 08:24

This is only my second year of M&S but it does feel samey. They need to up their game if they want me to purchase next year.

I forgot to open mine 🤦‍♀️

mammmamia · 18/12/2019 09:00

It’s been very samey for me this year but I’m pleased with today’s as I need a hand cream and I haven’t actually tried this one. Last year we got a L’occitane shower gel which was nice.

wellthatsjustgreat · 18/12/2019 09:08

Ah see, I didn't get last years but did get one the year before. I am absolutely loving the calendar this year and think it's far superior to the other one I had.
It's a real treat for me and not something I can justify or afford every year.
Today's hand cream is small but also lovely & will get used very quickly.

Teabeautyandturning40 · 18/12/2019 09:10

I think next year I might go for the body shop one, as I love their products anyway and know i will use everything. Although i may be a devil and buy the m&s one too!!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 18/12/2019 09:32

I agree. I really like the Shea Butter hand cream and I will enjoy using it but would have preferred a different scent, especially a festive one!

In general, I am feeling quite underwhelmed by the calendar but I do think it's because we're getting lots of repeats, or very similar products to the last two years. There's been nothing very exciting for me! I'm going to get the Holland & Barratt one next year I think. Similar price point but all news products to try. And it's getting really good reviews this year.

I did use the coconut body lotion on my hands this morning however, and was pleasantly surprised at how non-coconutty it is! So, that will get used, on my hands at least.

bohemia14 · 18/12/2019 10:00

I like today's cream and love the scent - I much prefer it to anything festive or fruity. Just shows we are all different and they can't please everyone.

I'm loving the calendar but ready for some make up now. I'd love a sparkly eyeshadow.

Bansku19 · 18/12/2019 11:04

I don't use hand creams so I will give away.

I think this calendar is ok but prefer the Birchbox one that I opened already. It did have some cheap products but much more variety. Not sure what to get next year.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/12/2019 12:03

This is so teeny. I use tonnes of hand cream on my dry battered paws. It’s will last a few gos.

One year we had an amazing hand cream full size, possibly neals yard.

This does feel a bit miserable. I loved yesterday’s day cream I might re purchase that one.

PrincessWatermelon · 18/12/2019 12:27

Ooo....@Bansku19 I'm glad to hear positive things about the Birchbox. I have it for Jadvent and have resisted peeking on the opening thread.

snowplop · 18/12/2019 14:52

This is my third year of M&S. I still think it's the best all-round for value but like some pps I'm a bit bored of the same old stuff. I'd like to see some make up next - a nice lipstick or eyeshadow would be great.

motherofdoodles · 18/12/2019 15:12

I'm bucking the trend and loving that today's is small. I'm woeful at remembering to put on handcream. The fact that this fits in my purse means my poor rough paws have a chance at my remembering to use it!

eatsleepmoverepeat · 18/12/2019 15:43

I was lamenting the state of my hands only yesterday and got the same hand cream in two separate advent calendars (this and Fenwick, though the Fenwick one is 3 times the size and also came with the matching foot cream). I’m happy!

Creas35 · 18/12/2019 16:49

I really love this calendar and am really making an effort to use everything as I don’t really use any product. My hair feels really nice and I would re purchase some of the bits so far, I really like the face cream from yesterday and the spray also! I haven’t had a beauty one before so I have nothing to compare it to.

Peachypips78 · 18/12/2019 18:14

I'd like some more make up too. That bronzy/highlighter/blush thing was my fav from last year.

We haven't had an eyeshadow for a couple of years either...

Skinfulnappies46 · 18/12/2019 20:13

This will be last year buying it too. Far too much of the same stuff. They have so many other products that could be included. You can almost guess what the next item will be.

NorthernLightsInWinter · 18/12/2019 22:54

Miserly sized hand cream. Love the brand, but could have been more generous as this will only last a few days. And it would have been nice to try one of their lovely scented ones.

Some of the sizes have been rather disappointing.

ReeRi · 18/12/2019 23:16

I just opened today’s and I’m slightly disappointed as I don’t like this scent (not M&S fault), I have loads of unopened hand creams including loccitane (not M&S fault) and it is tiny (definitely M&S fault - they could have included a full size one)

However I also opened tomorrow’s and i think it’s a good one 😬

AmethystMoonShine · 19/12/2019 06:07

Yes! Love this Xmas Grin
Oh this is a good one. Makes up for a few mediocre days.
Worth about £20 too.

TheMostHappy · 19/12/2019 06:16

Really pleased with today's offering. I had been meaning to try this one for a while and never got around to it so that was a nice surprise. Very happy!
