M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Writersblock2 · 21/09/2019 15:53

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

Pleased to have a day cream. I have so many little tubes of things it's hilarious!! I've done so much cleansing and masks and creams my face doesn't know what's going on!!

But am out for an awards lunch in London today, so hoping it'll all pay off 😀

Teabeautyandturning40 · 17/12/2019 08:02

Happy with a day cream to go with the night creams. Although I am tempted to put it away so I am not opening another product! I need to start using what I have first. Feeling a bit sad about this calendar being over half way there now

Butterymuffin · 17/12/2019 08:15

Also happy with a day cream though won't use it straight away as I have others on the go at the moment. It'll get used though!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 17/12/2019 08:37

On the upside, this cream smells lovely and is thick and rich. However this means it took a while to sink in and left quite a shiny finish which definitely needed a bit of primer on top.
It'd be very good for dry winter skin, I think

AmethystMoonShine · 17/12/2019 09:20

@PrincessWatermelon ha ha to clarify I left my teens in the very early 90s, I’m several years older than you Xmas Grin
In my defence it was early and I did spend at least 5 seconds trying to think of a better word than mature.... but as I’d not had any coffee at that point I failed Blush

Beadstar · 17/12/2019 09:22

I’ve tried it and it’s perfect for this weather.

Having used the Aveda a few times now I really like it. I wasn’t sure on first use. I have thick curly hair and use it under my curl cream and my curls are definitely looking much more shiny and I’m also getting decent second day hair every time which is rare with my hair! I think I will repurchase!

I’m only slightly older than you PrincessMelon and things regularly make me feel old. My young children do an extra-curricular activity and the teacher must be 20 years younger than me - that makes me feel old every week!

MirandaWest · 17/12/2019 09:55

I’m 44. Not sure quite where I am on the old scale Grin

mammmamia · 17/12/2019 10:41

Haha. I’m 42 - not sure if that counts as mature Grin I also remember the supermodels in the 90s going on about 8 hour cream

DobbyTheHouseElk · 17/12/2019 11:08

I’m so glad we got a day cream. My skin is so dry.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 17/12/2019 11:09

If it helps I’m in 40’s and think that’s why I love the 8hr cream. It was the cream to have in the 90’s.

ReeRi · 17/12/2019 11:21

Ha i am 35 and accept I am verging on “mature” 😬

Happy with today’s. Not familiar with the brand but feel like it’s probably ok if it’s in the M&S calendar!

I’m also not opening any more things until I’ve used up what I’ve got!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 17/12/2019 12:24

This is getting a bit samey now. Had M&S for the last few years and am missing the wow factor.
So splurged and got the Paul & Joe advent for Jadvent. £80 - 20% student discount.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 17/12/2019 12:26

And if anyone wants a referral to feel unique for 20% then feel free to dm meGrin

That's always my first purchase when I go in to Duty Free! Like to keep a stick wherever I might be - desk, kitchen, bedroom, handbag etc.!

Writersblock2 · 17/12/2019 14:18

I’m 38 and I’m not in the least bit mature. Grin

Besides, if we are mature at 40 then what are you at 80?

I was aiming to use as many products as possible today!

I managed: Shampoo, Aveda hair product, face wash, perfume, moisturiser, coconut body butter, nail polish.

Trying to get my money's worth Grin

woodhill · 17/12/2019 16:47

Day cream with SPF is useful

ReeRi · 17/12/2019 17:19

I think this calendar is worth the money but don’t think I’ll buy it next year because I still have loads of things left from last year (I opened - willing to swap) and the items this year are very similar

ReeRi · 17/12/2019 17:24

unopened, not I opened

Not sure what I’d get instead though as this is good value

PrincessWatermelon · 17/12/2019 21:10

@ReeRi - what haven't you opened? I'm trying to pretty much open and use everything (unless I have 2 eye creams or a mascara just opened) so that I can be sure to enjoy everything. What are you thinking of swapping?

PrincessWatermelon · 17/12/2019 21:13

Love that @Bobbybobbins ! I've done similarly. With the Formula box as well (12 gifts which I opened in one go) I've had a crazy session of lotions and potions. I've cleansed, scrubbed, masked, serum and creamed my face. Then this morning different cleanser, mask, serum and cream, as well as shampoo and Aveda one.

ReeRi · 17/12/2019 22:46

I have so much @PrincessWatermelon but yes it’s a similar thing as I have at least 2 day creams, night creams, eye creams, mascara’s one the go... I didn’t open most of last year’s and similar with this year’s although I am interested in trying some of the fave creams. I also got a harvey nichols gift with purchase which had loads of stuff in it. I’ll try to take a pic of all the stuff maybe tomorrow and then you can see

AmethystMoonShine · 18/12/2019 06:05

Well it is something different in terms of type of product but I’m sure this has been in the calendar before?
Bit meh for me but it’ll be good in a handbag.

Beadstar · 18/12/2019 06:24

Not particularly excited by today’s but will start using it today. I already have loads, including this one in larger sizes, as I forget to use it.

I’m trying to use everything straight away as I didn’t when I had it a couple of years back and I ended up with too many tubes of things which weren’t being used. I am trying to remember that it’s only good value if I actually use the products!

Have just applied today’s, smells and feels nice but has reminded me why I don’t use it much during the day!

Writersblock2 · 18/12/2019 07:31

I’m okay with today’s, though it’s pretty small.
