M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

Don’t love today’s but will probably use it. It’s good that it is a decent size but it’s very similar to day one and you can’t use them both together I expect. I’d rather have had something different... like a conditioner or heat styling spray (if it had to be a hair product).

bohemia14 · 15/12/2019 08:14

Very pleased with today's gift. I love this product and it has a gorgeous smell. I have very fine hair and this works well for me.

Been very happy overall so far. I'm going to try the mask this morning on my post Xmas party skin!

circleorsquare · 15/12/2019 08:14

If it works then I'll love today's as I have high maintenance hair!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/12/2019 08:15

This smells amazing. I have loads of these from previous years. But no idea what it does.

My hair is straight and heavy and oily. I don’t think it’s for me. Shame because I love the smell....

Writersblock2 · 15/12/2019 08:38

Percy and Reed Wonder Balm today, and a generous size. Very happy!

One of my regular buys so I’m very happy

rookiemere · 15/12/2019 08:48

I've not opened it yet, but disappointing that two products that do more or less the same thing and plus am expecting a conditioner at some point otherwise why bother with the shampoo.
Having said that I am loving the Day 1 hair stuff.

HollyHocks13 · 15/12/2019 09:00

Really pleased with today's. I also really like the day 1 product so even if this is similar, I don't mind!

PrincessWatermelon · 15/12/2019 09:19

If it's similar to day 1, then I'm happy. Have used that every time I've washed my hair and was thinking I'd need to rebuy!

Any user tips from those that have had it before?

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 09:26

I’ve had this before and not sure whether it did very much but if it works I don’t mind having two hair products. I think you just put it on damp hair and then style but agree with PP that you probably wouldn’t use them together

I agree we need a conditioner to go with the shampoo but I bet we don’t get one!

JoanBonJovi · 15/12/2019 09:27

I kept forgetting to open mine. It’s that boring.

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 09:28

This is what the website says about it:

www.percyandreed.com/products/percy-and-reed-perfectly-perfecting-wonder-balm

It’s worth £18

SirProjectofThigh · 15/12/2019 09:34

I can’t believe I’ve only just found this thread - have been looking for this year’s!

Thought today’s was a decent size. Have had the wonder balm in other gift sets, but I’m never quite sure what it does.

Teabeautyandturning40 · 15/12/2019 09:39

This has good reviews so I will give it a go. Although I have thick hair and reading some reviews it sounds like it may be better for finer hair. Smells lovely though

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 09:49

The website talks about it as a primer which helps prevent frizz

Anjelika · 15/12/2019 09:59

Had this hair balm in a previous calendar and repurchased as really liked it. I have always used it on its own though and alternate between this and Revlon UniqOne. Might try them together now having seen you can use this as a base product. It just calms down frizz and flyaways for me and helps hold my hair in place.

Beadstar · 15/12/2019 11:19

I’ve had this in a previous year and it didn’t do much for my thick curly hair. I’ll try it again though.

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 11:33

I just tried it a bit on the ends of my (dry) curly hair as I am washing it in a bit anyway and it does seem like it would help calm frizz but my big issue is my hair staying defined and frizz free (its great on day one but deteriorated quickly) so we’ll see if this helps

PrincessWatermelon · 15/12/2019 13:39

@ReeRi I love Moroccan oil curl creme. I use it on hair I've just dampened with water (so good for day 2 and 3) and it really helps with definition.

Bansku19 · 15/12/2019 14:05

I tried the product on the ends. I can't use whole hair because my hair is so straight and fine. It ends up looking greasy.

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 15:40

Thanks @PrincessWatermelon I will try that! I use macadamia shampoo and conditioner, which I like, and then mainly TIGI styling products and they’re good too, as I say, doesn’t last. I will see if I can get the Moroccan oil curl creme on Amazon

Strudelorcheesecake · 15/12/2019 17:53

Keen to try the Wonder Balm so pleased with today.

Running total now £169.06. EH mask yesterday (gorgeous smell) was worth £16 and today full-size £18.

PrincessWatermelon · 15/12/2019 18:08

@ReeRi yes, you def can. I wet my hair a bit and then squirt some in wet hands and run through. Best I've found.

ReeRi · 15/12/2019 19:08

I have found it @PrincessWatermelon I’m excited to try it!

TheWitchwithNoName · 16/12/2019 07:13

I needed today’s item, pleased with everything so far
