M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Writersblock2 · 21/09/2019 15:53

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

I am another one happy to swop today's peach for a black tulip- I tried one spray but prefer the tulip.

I am liking the coconut butter, not too keen on the coconut smell but it's a lovely consistency and smells less strong once on.

PrincessWatermelon · 14/12/2019 08:05

The coconut cream was v coconutty. I tried it as a hand cream before bed, but the smell was a bit off putting.
The peach perfume isn't as nice as the black tulip, in my opinion, but I reckon I'll wear it.

Today's is good - keen to give it a go. But something of my new regime isn't suiting me. My face and chin are completely dry and peeling. So I don't think I ought to clay mask just now. I look a mess!! Which is a shame as I have our family Christmas today and an awards do on Tuesday!!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/12/2019 08:12

I’m worried my skin is bit dry for a clay mask. Despite the REN night cream I’m waking up with really dry skin. Might give it a break.

I’m going to try the mask this morning before my make up.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/12/2019 08:25

This smells amazing......geranium oil. My favourite. It’s stinging, but isn’t a hard drying mask. Feels good....apart from the stinging.

PrincessWatermelon · 14/12/2019 09:24

Don't know what to do with my face!!! I went for the "super hydrating" option and have layered cream after cream onto my forehead in the attempt to stick down the flacks of dryness. Think actually I'd have done better to sand it all down, I mean exfoliate, and start from scratch.

It looked dry last night so I opened and tried the REN cream for the first time, but I suspect that wasn't rich enough.

PrincessWatermelon · 14/12/2019 09:25

*that should be flakes not flacks

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/12/2019 10:39

@PrincessWatermelon

Exfoliating would be your best option. Otherwise you are only moisturising the dead dry skin.

Today’s mask was very drying on my skin. I think I need to leave it alone and recover

Beadstar · 14/12/2019 10:41

Oh dear I was going to try the mask tonight but it sounds like it might be one to use in the warmer weather. It’s all about intensive hydrating masks right now.

Writersblock2 · 14/12/2019 11:18

Today’s mask looks fab!

Dry skin is an issue this time of year with the central heating. I suggest using acid exfoliants and lots of sheet masks followed by face oils. Mine is doing pretty well this year.

Yup. It's radiator face weather.

I'm v pleased with the mask but am going to stash it until spring / summer and stick with the hydrating stuff for now.

GreyHare · 14/12/2019 11:38

Well I have used the mask, slightly scary as it was quite tingly and it looked like my skin had sucked it in, but it had just dried to my skin tone, but my face feels lovely and soft and clean now, and the smell was lovely.

mammmamia · 14/12/2019 11:45

I HATED the coconut cream. It smells awful. DD has taken it for her pretend spa!

PrincessWatermelon · 14/12/2019 11:58

I'll steer clear of the mask for now!!

I have a a radiance mask from the Formula box. It's a rub on and it sloughs off the dead skin revealing the underlying radiance 🤨). So I may try that now. I have done a Clarins hydrating mask and hydrating cream already which has improved it, but I can tell make up is going to look awful.

Xmasbaby11 · 14/12/2019 12:21

Ooh the perfume smells just like Fuzzy Peach! I like it but preferred the perfumes in previous years. This one is v sweet.

ReeRi · 14/12/2019 13:41

What is radiator face?

I think the peach perfume has an initial v peachy smell but after that doesn’t smell peachy IMHO

Today’s looks ok, good to try but I’m another with dry skin at the moment but I quite like multi masking - using the clarifying mask where I need it and something more nourishing in dry spots....

What is radiator face?

PartTimePunk · 14/12/2019 14:42

@ReeRi it's when you've been going from cold harsh weather outside to warm centrally heated rooms and your skin gets dry and flushed as a result.

ReeRi · 14/12/2019 16:20

Thanks @PartTimePunk Makes sense!

Teabeautyandturning40 · 14/12/2019 17:15

I'm liking today's mask, may get a chance to try it out later. I'm lazy with face masks though and tend to go for peel off or sheet ones. Luckily I dont suffer dry skin as mine is combination verging more over to the oilier side. For my first ever beauty calendar I am really impressed and can see me buying this one again next year, I got this with cashback so technically it was free!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/12/2019 18:08

It smells amazing on.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 14/12/2019 19:34

Could someone post the instructions. My eyes are getting old and I can't read it. My glasses don't help. Sad

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/12/2019 19:46

@Babysharkdoodoodood

Apply a thin layer. Leave for 10-15 mins and remove with cloth.

I think it must come with a cloth. I used a flannel and warm water. It stings but it’s meant to apparently. It sort of absorbed in, but dried on. The smell is the best thing.

NorthernLightsInWinter · 14/12/2019 20:04

Mask sounds nice. I will try that sometime next week.

GreyHare · 14/12/2019 23:43

My face has felt soft and plump all day after using the mask, I think I quite like it.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 15/12/2019 04:33

@DobbyTheHouseElk Thanks

AmethystMoonShine · 15/12/2019 07:20

Ooh now we’ve had this in previous years but a much smaller size. I’m impressed that this might be full sized? I initially thought it was rubbish but then read the instructions and understood its purpose Blush once I realised it’s a base/prep for other styling products I found it does seem to boost styling and hair is less prone to frizz and flop!
So, pleased today Xmas Grin
