M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

Late joining the thread but I am loving the calendar so far and enjoying following along on the thread. I was an early adopter of beauty advent calendars years ago, I can still remember the delight at bagging a Ciate calendar on the Selfridges website in 2011! But since having kids (eldest is almost 3) I've not had the time or money to spend on one. Treated myself to the M&S one and have just ordered the Nuxe one from LOOK fantastic for £46 inc delivery. I used to adore Nuxe and won £100 at the weekend from putting a free bet on Jacqueline to win I'm a Celeb so treating myself (again!) Xmas Blush

DobbyTheHouseElk · 10/12/2019 21:04

I think today’s is a primer

ReeRi · 10/12/2019 21:20

Yes I wasn’t sure what today’s was supposed to do but assumed day cream. Hate the over packaging!

This calendar is definitely more skincare than make up

I’m enjoying it and will use most of it

Beadstar · 10/12/2019 21:46

Imabusybee, I had the selfridges calendar (skincare/ perfume, I remember there was a fair bit of Lancôme) calendar via the website in the same year, pre kids!

imabusybee · 10/12/2019 22:25

Beadstar I remember it as my friend bought it and I was really jealous until she opened it to find loads of perfumes, at the time I was definitely more into make up than anything else (didnt have to worry about anti ageing pre kids Xmas Hmm )

NorthernLightsInWinter · 10/12/2019 23:16

I'm delighted it's primarily skin care; why I went for it again this year.

Looking forward to trying the Nuxe. I am squirreling away all my calendar products for use throughout the year. I get every ounce of lotion out of the bottles by squeezing them to death, then cutting them open (in half, generally) and continuing to scoop out the lotion until it's finished. Keeps if you nest the two halves together after cutting bottles in half. Grin

JoanBonJovi · 11/12/2019 07:01

Nah. I want Make up

AmethystMoonShine · 11/12/2019 07:11

I like this brand, loved a night cream I had which I think was from a previous years’ calendar. Pleased, but yes like others kind of hankering after some make up (in nice subtle colours, not garish shades that only suit eg a winter and look hideous on an autumn) I’m easy to please honest Grin

wellthatsjustgreat · 11/12/2019 07:15

Ooooh, I LOVE the Filorga meso mask and it is something that I have bought after getting a sample in a previous calendar. This cream has the same gorgeous smell so I'm looking forward to using it.

Teabeautyandturning40 · 11/12/2019 07:19

Quite excited about trying this cream, I know how expensive this is and way out of the budget I would set to buy a cream. My eyes water at a £30 clinique cream!! Though like others, I would like a bit of make up now, maybe a nice highlighter or even a eyeshadow pot in a neutral shade. Tomorrows box looks a nice size so cant wait until tomorrow!!

ScribblyGum · 11/12/2019 07:25

Another little tube of something vague that fails my Up Against The Bedside Light test.

MirandaWest · 11/12/2019 07:35

What is multi correction cream? What am I correcting? Blush

Teabeautyandturning40 · 11/12/2019 07:43

I wish I could be as refrained as some pp and save the stuff up for use during the year....I just open and whack it on lol!

ScribblyGum · 11/12/2019 07:44

I'm equally confused Miranda. Two days now of corrections creams. Maybe it’s for voting intention?

Butterymuffin · 11/12/2019 08:09

I love Filorga. We had their eye cream before which was great so happy to try this. Now I've started checking the tubes against the light, though, none are properly full!

Butterymuffin · 11/12/2019 08:11

I do prefer the skincare slant - like @NorthernLightsInWinter, that's why I got it.

Beadstar · 11/12/2019 08:18

No idea what this is - the tube isn’t very helpful...

Chrysanthemum5 · 11/12/2019 08:24

I like this brand so that's great, but two multi-correction creams on a row? Is M&S trying tactfully to let me know I have a lot of problems Grin

circleorsquare · 11/12/2019 08:32

But what is a multi correction cream? I've no idea! Is it a moisturiser? 2 in a row is a bit sad really

circleorsquare · 11/12/2019 08:34

Just googled this one and it seems like a fancy name for a moisturiser!!

TheNavigator · 11/12/2019 08:38

This is the first time I am a bit disappointed as it is the same thing in a row - although I like both brands and will definately use.
I knew it was a mainly skin & haircare calendar when I bought it, so I have been happy and don't really expect make-up. But I did love the nail varnish, fab colour.

colaelf · 11/12/2019 08:48

What is today's exactly?

I can see why these calendars are mostly skincare - make up can be very personal and subjective and i imagine the age range for people buying these calendars is anywhere between 30-65. Its harder to please everyone with make up.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/12/2019 09:25

I think yesterday’s cream was a primer. It wasn’t moisturising and had a definite primer feel. My make up looks good though. Still keen for a day cream for my parched winter face.

What is today’s? Anyone know. Tiny tube.

Hope we haven’t had the best of the calender.

I used the shampoo today, very runny it almost ran down the plug. Can’t say my hair feels better, but my hair is thick and greasy. So expensive hair care doesn’t really show up.

ScribblyGum · 11/12/2019 09:31

I’ve got yesterday’s on now and it can’t be a moisturiser. My face feels all squinky. Cant really tell if I have received any noticeable corrections either. Bloody hell its another stinky one too. Pfft.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/12/2019 09:34

I agree, it’s isn’t a moisturiser. My foundation sunk in really quickly and was hard to blend.
