M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

I like this cream. I find the small sizes useful for travel and they definitely get used.

Only have 1 calendar which is great for me

Retailqueenie · 08/12/2019 18:39

Who gives a flying monkeys how many calendars you have? How many socks do you own? How many perfumes you have? Yawn...

This thread is about what’s inside the M&S one...

Hoping for a lipstick tomorrow... Grin

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 08/12/2019 18:50

This thread is about what’s inside the M&S one...

Of which there was plenty of stock on day of release which was publicised for months! It would have been really hard to miss out on this one if you really wanted it!

Hope you are enjoying all of your calendars Writer and I appreciate the advice on which is best for next year...maybe I will even get two Xmas Grin

ScribblyGum · 08/12/2019 19:09

I'm happy about another night cream. I had another go with the other one last night and had such an overwhelming nostalgic olfactory experience of polishing my parent's brass candlesticks that I'm going to have to confine it to No2 reserve going-away-likely-to-be-very-drunk-tonight wash bag.

Keepsmiling1 · 08/12/2019 19:10

I have been pleased with the calendar so far. It's the first time I've had one and I love getting a little present each day! I especially love all the threads. I wanted a Cult Beauty one but it sold out - would anyone with that one too recommend it? I may try for next year. The Holland and Barrett one seems to have good reviews too.

I am hoping for a serum or facial oil as mine has just ran out!

Doubleraspberry · 08/12/2019 19:45

Cult Beauty is really good - so far it’s been a selection of high quality brands that are mostly new to me. No filler products yet. I’ve got a thread if you want to see it all listed.

I got it by chance as the email arrived when I had a few spare moments and I decided to go for it. My husband had offered to buy me the Liberty one for my birthday and I thought this would do instead. (Partly because threads on here has made me doubt it!) But it turned out he had been really exited about getting me the Liberty calendar and I couldn’t really fess up to how much Cult Beauty had cost, so I ended up with both.

Nice colour, but it's chipped already! Same on the other hand too...

ReeRi · 08/12/2019 20:58

Thanks @PrincessWatermelon I was hoping someone would post a pic of the polish

SunshineCake · 08/12/2019 21:35

Did you put top coat on PrincessWatermelon? I rarely get long lasting polish as can't sit still and are very messily hands on all day but apart from a slight peel I'm doing okay with this one so far.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 08/12/2019 21:40

Mine's still going strong after a day of housework and present wrapping. But I use a base coat and a super secret topcoat (not saying what as only one stockist in the uk and I don't want it selling out Grin)

PrincessWatermelon · 08/12/2019 21:47

No, I admit to no top coat. Maybe that's my problem. I don't normally wear polish as it doesn't last - but apparently because I don't do a top coat!

ReeRi · 08/12/2019 21:49

Too cost helps but nail polish rarely lasts more than 24 hours without any chips at all

woodhill · 08/12/2019 21:54

Mines chipped

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/12/2019 22:05

Base coat, 2 coats of colour and a top coat. Put it on properly and yes it takes time. Shouldn’t chip as easily.

PrincessWatermelon · 08/12/2019 22:50

Well, I've blooming lost it now anyway!!! Can't find it anywhere - suspect it must've fallen into the bin whilst we were doing a Major Tidy Up today. Never mind. I have another couple of similar colour, just was going to touch up my chips before work tomorrow.

PrincessWatermelon · 08/12/2019 22:56

I was thinking, I'd really like a good hand cream. That's something I find so useful this time of year and haven't yet found one that I love.

I had the calendar last year, and think I'm correct in recalling that no 25 was the Deep Sleep pillow spray. Is that right? If not, please correct me!! And what was the year before? I think I was a bit disappointed, as I'd already used that, so want to prepare myself!

wellthatsjustgreat · 08/12/2019 23:10

25 the year before last was a make up bag - I wasn't enamoured

Beadstar · 08/12/2019 23:12

The year before was a make-up bag.

My nail varnish has started to wear away at the fingertips but I was away and didn’t have access to a top coat, I’ll reapply it properly soon.

I’m not fussed on hand creams as I forget to use them so I’ve got loads of unopened ones.

Doubleraspberry · 08/12/2019 23:16

Having said I like it all, I do loathe the Deep
Sleep thing because lavender makes me nauseous. But my kids love it, so it’s a winner with them.

Butterymuffin · 08/12/2019 23:19

Yes, last year day 25 was the This Works pillow spray (I have about 7 already...) I remember the make up bag too. Maybe M&S believe day 25 shouldn't be too exciting as we'll be opening lots of other things then? Confused

Meh about the sleep cream today too as, like many of you, this is the third year in a row now and I'm one of those people who don't dislike it, but am just not convinced it does much. As I still have the previous two, I will probably offer this one on the swap thread.

AmethystMoonShine · 09/12/2019 07:00

Pleased with today’s. Good size and nice brand. It’s going into my travel toiletries box. Good size for a two week break.

panicovernow · 09/12/2019 07:15

I like today's simply because I love the elastisizer from Philip Kingsley. Hoping for amazing results Grin

Writersblock2 · 09/12/2019 07:21

Happy with the shampoo and look forward to using it!

Teabeautyandturning40 · 09/12/2019 07:29

Also happy with today's, have never used this brand before so a thumbs up on my part. This will be put away for my holiday. I'm hoping for a day cream now to compliment the night cream! Have never had an m&s calendar before so have no idea what to expect from this. I have ignored the back of the box....mainly due to having crap eyesight Grin

PartTimePunk · 09/12/2019 07:31

I'm v pleased with this one. Although I already have a great mop of thick hair and it's volumising. I shall just go the full Raine Spencer circa 1985 Grin
