M&S Beauty Advent Calendar 2019

Writersblock2 · 21/09/2019 15:53

Starting a thread to discuss the contents as we hit December.

Who is getting this one this year?

This was my very first beauty calendar last year and it’s definitely got me addicted. I loved it!

This year you can order the calendar from 31st October. Price is £40 when you spend £25 at M&S. Contents are worth over £300.

If you do want to know the full contents you can find them over at ReallyRee (SPOLIERS!).

Please don’t discuss the contents ahead of time on here as most people don’t want to know (or as in my case, read then forget!).

I’m delighted, I’m always after a new eyeliner!

MrsArcher23 · 06/12/2019 08:57

Like many others here, I’d really prefer brown to black. I prefer a pen eyeliner for tight lining - pencil can be too wide IMO

mammmamia · 06/12/2019 09:00

@Butterymuffin please could you post a link to the swap thread? I can’t find it. Thank you.

Llareggub · 06/12/2019 09:07

I bought one of these and I opened all the boxes before December. It felt great at the time but I wish I’d used it as a proper advent calendar. Enjoy your goodies!

My eyeliner will be going in it. I don't use it.

First I thought blah but after trying it I like it. This is probably a product I will use most so far.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/12/2019 09:28

Loved the night cream. My skin feels really good this morning. It did sting a bit, but not for long when I put it on.

Eyeliner, fab I use black and it’s going to be used.

CointreauVersial · 06/12/2019 10:03

YAWN. Another sodding BLACK eyeliner. Every year!! Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

I can't even pass it onto my teenage DDs as they now have a stockpile of the bloody things.

Agree with many others, a lovely brown would have been so much more popular and flattering on the vast majority of people. I loved the Stila smudgy bronze one.

TheNavigator · 06/12/2019 10:11

This is a regift for me - my daughter will use it, I don't use eyeliner. I might pop it in her stocking.

ajandjjmum · 06/12/2019 10:18

I was happy with it. I have recently bought a Clarins eyeliner - previously used dark brown, but thought I might start using the light brown - total waste of time! So I'm happy to have an eyeliner I can see!

SunshineCake · 06/12/2019 10:23

I used the eye liner this morning and thought it was lovely in application. I'm used to scratchy pencils so this is like velvet. However, I made a bit of a mess with it and it is easily smudged but I think I'll get better applying it so I am happy again.

MirandaWest · 06/12/2019 10:59

I’ll give mine to DD - am not an eyeliner person Smile

HollyHocks13 · 06/12/2019 11:25

It's actually a nice eyeliner, I'm wearing it today and it's a good consistency and depth of colour. Like many of you though, I prefer brown eyeliner. Last year's Stila one was lovely and I bought it again afterwards. Would love another one this year rather than boring black!

littlepooch · 06/12/2019 12:27

Today was the first day I've felt meh. Eyeliners and nail varnish are wasted on me as I don't wear eyeliner and have gel nails but I know at some point in these things both are going to turn up! I'll gift the eyeliner to the friend I think so it doesn't go to waste!

So far I've liked the cleanser and the night cream. It was nice to try the hair stuff but my hair is ridiculously thick and long so very few products actually make a difference, but this wasn't too bad, made it feel a bit softer. The eye cream was ok but I prefer a different texture. I'll use it though.

mammmamia · 06/12/2019 12:29

Night cream stung my face when I used it last year as well which has put me off opening this year’s. Is it supposed to do that?

Thanks for the link to the swap thread!

YorkieTheRabbit · 06/12/2019 15:11

I’ve not worn black eyeliner since I was 17 Hmm last year I got both the M&S and No7 calendars, black eyeliner in both. I’ll be passing it on to DP daughter
I’m happy with the calendar so far, I like the products, not used the mascara yet but there was one of these in last years, it was ok but not one I’d buy

ReeRi · 06/12/2019 15:37

You can be subtle with black eyeliner - it doesn’t need to be a think line all around the eye... I sometimes just use it on the outside of the eye and there are ways to dot it on so it is invisible but still definite the eye

SymphonyofShadows · 06/12/2019 18:57

I’m quite pleased with this. M&S is beating Glossybox for me at the moment.

Batshittery · 06/12/2019 19:03

I won't be using the eyeliner as I already have several really good ones, and I very rarely use them, but it will go with some other make up for my DGD's stocking filler. I might also give her the mascara even though she wears falsies most of the time.
This is the first year that I have opened the items daily rather than all at once when I buy the calendar, and I'm enjoying it and taking part in this thread.
Thank you Crown Smile

littlepooch · 06/12/2019 19:35

Just wore the mascara as going out and I like it. I'm a fussy moo with mascara but for my lashes this isnt bad at all. Another thumbs up from me.

Itsanewme · 06/12/2019 21:54

Hi I didn’t get a mascara ?

Itsanewme · 06/12/2019 21:57

I did. I just didn’t remember it. I’m sorry.

ReeRi · 06/12/2019 22:02

Surprised at that @SymphonyofShadows

circleorsquare · 06/12/2019 23:40

Been out so tried the eye liner and it's nice to apply and I could smudge it nicely too. Better than I thought!
