Can you help me accessorise this Toast dress for a wedding?

Just 3 weeks until my sister's wedding and I have this morning found the dress for me. Waking up in a panic can end! However, I'd love a bit of help to find the bits and pieces to go with it, if anyone feels inspired?

So, background - its my little sister's wedding, mid September at a rather cool central London venue. Wear what you please, but I'm giving a reading and we lost our (very chic) Mum just a year ago, so I want to look my best for my sister on what's going to be a very bittersweet day.
Me, I'm nowhere near as waify as the model below (16) and a bit of a scruff in real life, whereas my sister is skinny and groomed. I'm short too (5'2") and have shoulder length dark curly hair. At the moment, I can't think beyond it being an excuse to get a new pair of Birks.
Here's the dress - looks much nicer in real life, didn't look at it twice on the website, but I feel fabulous in it (and I bought it in a 14!)

I love it! Not sure how I would style it for a wedding but.... possibly some pointy toe block heeled ankle boots. And matte orange lipstick. Someone will come along with some better ideas though

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 22/08/2019 12:49

Gold shoe boots and small chunky hoops? These ones look comfy for heels, if you're used to wearing Birkenstocks a lot!

honeycrumpet · 22/08/2019 13:28

ooh Nowisthemonth where are those shoes from? I love them!

The print on the dress is gorgeous OP. Not sure about shoes although metallic ankle boots sound cool. Or go completely the other way and do strappy heels like these?

Huntlybyelection · 22/08/2019 13:33

Rose gold cuff? Or solid chunky bracelet. I wouldn't wear a necklace with it.

Gorgeous dress.

milliefiori · 22/08/2019 13:37

I'd go for bright orange ankle boots with a heel and earrings that hang down almost to my shoulders.

milliefiori · 22/08/2019 13:40

These are chunky heeled if you don't like high heels. (That's assuming you don't think the idea of bright orange ankle boots is daft in the first place! Grin

chocolatefudgecake17 · 22/08/2019 13:42

I don't think it's a very weddingy dress at all. If you're 5'2 it must be down to your ankles? It has no shape. I have no idea how you'd accessorise it. I'm sorry about your mum op and I'm genuinely not trying to be mean. I just don't think it's wedding wear.(prepared to be flamed)

GCAcademic · 22/08/2019 13:42

Oh, gosh, I've had my eye on that dress but couldn't envisage what it would be like in real life. In my experience, Toast dresses look nothing like they do on the website, sometimes they're much nicer, sometimes hideous. Think I will buy it now!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2019 14:14

No good for the wedding but for casual-wear, I think these boots would go well with it.

These heels might work, if you happen to be a size 6.

Probably not very comfortable!

Probably too casual but I really like them

nothingwittyhere · 22/08/2019 14:19

Would red shoes go? I find it difficult to gauge the colours, but I think these shoes are quite nice: Red suede heels or these ankle boots?

I think it's a lovely dress and perfectly suitable for the wedding you describe (not the imaginary one that several posters are probably going to tell you it's not suitable for Hmm).

SinglePringle · 22/08/2019 14:22

Rose gold / bronze cuff, orange, pointed but cut high on the foot, block heeled shoes, simple rose gold hoops in ears.

It’s a lovely, simple and chic dress. Lovely to see something that isn’t Phase Bloody 8 or Coast!

SinglePringle · 22/08/2019 14:25

Something like these shoes? I think because the dress is long and dark, you need closed toes for balance. And a navy clutch.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2019 14:26

Witty - I'm so sorry but those Hotter shoes have definite Widow Twanky vibes.

allezallezallez · 22/08/2019 14:29

Lovely for a wedding.
How about tan leather clogs and bamboo bag? Picking up on brown/natural tone in pattern

Sorry can’t figure out hyperlink on the phone

Greenglassteacup · 22/08/2019 14:30

I want to see a photo of you in it so I can see the length on you

whitershadeofpale · 22/08/2019 14:36

I think orange ankle boots, or just ankle boots in general will look great day to day, but for a wedding of someone close I think you're best to style things quite classically. Orange boots are likely to the the huge shoulder pads of the '10s and not look very stylish when you're a central part of the wedding.

I'd go with a classic heel in orange and a chunky bracelet and long earrings (although I do rather agree with @chocolatefudgecake17 really and think you could probably find something that you'd look better in).

nothingwittyhere · 22/08/2019 14:39

Remus I know Hotter do generally look awful, but I think the Donna heels have more of a 1940s vibe, when they're in the right colours (well, I hope so, as they're my only pair of heels Blush). But on reflection I don't think red would go anyway, and the other colours are wank.

hopeishere · 22/08/2019 14:40

It's a gorgeous dress. It's maybe not "wedding" but very chic.

Annasgirl · 22/08/2019 14:51

I love that dress OP - sorry about your DM. You will look amazing in that dress I'm sure. I would second those gold shoes (I love them) or orange heels. I would also stack some necklaces, perhaps 3 gold ones with one having an orange pendent.

I would add an orange clutch bag. Enjoy your day.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/08/2019 15:04

Hope NowisthemonthofMay comes back and says where those gold heels are from - they'd go brilliantly!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2019 15:14

The other colours are wank Grin Grin

ImperfectTents · 22/08/2019 15:27

The gold shoes

LemonPrism · 22/08/2019 16:10

I love it.

No jewellery - wear nude leather heels and a woven bag. Classy

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2019 16:50

I hate those gold shoes. Sorry but I do!

And personally I think you need something with more substance to it than just a classic nude heel.

Almahart · 22/08/2019 16:51

@ImperfectTents I was going to suggest just those shoes!!

That’s a beautiful dress OP and absolutely perfect for the wedding you describe
