Can you help me accessorise this Toast dress for a wedding?

Just 3 weeks until my sister's wedding and I have this morning found the dress for me. Waking up in a panic can end! However, I'd love a bit of help to find the bits and pieces to go with it, if anyone feels inspired?

So, background - its my little sister's wedding, mid September at a rather cool central London venue. Wear what you please, but I'm giving a reading and we lost our (very chic) Mum just a year ago, so I want to look my best for my sister on what's going to be a very bittersweet day.
Me, I'm nowhere near as waify as the model below (16) and a bit of a scruff in real life, whereas my sister is skinny and groomed. I'm short too (5'2") and have shoulder length dark curly hair. At the moment, I can't think beyond it being an excuse to get a new pair of Birks.
Here's the dress - looks much nicer in real life, didn't look at it twice on the website, but I feel fabulous in it (and I bought it in a 14!)

The gold shoes are from Esska and I have a few pairs of Esska - all very comfortable. They come in lots of colours (inc Orange 'coral')

Elllllle · 23/08/2019 11:32

Please don't wear the orange sling backs OP

Girlwhowearsglasses · 23/08/2019 11:32

I second a really great cuff but no necklace. Maybe a gold hair ornament.

Lovely dress

(I'd wear orange fishnets too but that's just me ;-) )

girlwhowearsglasses · 23/08/2019 11:36

hair clips (there are a few nice ones )

Beaten silver gold-plated cuff. Lovely but not cheap - you may find something similar though

How about Glossier Generation G lipstick in Zip, which is an orangey-red? I find this lipstick very wearable because it's transparent yet matte, and not drying.

Scabetty · 23/08/2019 12:06

I think tan boots would be fab. Love that clutch do much and the dress is gorgeous.

Slurpy · 23/08/2019 12:07

I promise I won't do orange bag and orange heels! There was also a lovely midnight blue bag with moths on, that could be a contender. I can always use the orange 11 quid shoes as walking practice!
LOVE that cuff! The clips are pretty too and @nothingwittyhere I keep getting advertised that lipstick on FB!
Going to play around with necklace/no necklace. I'd love to wear something of my Mum's, and she got a beautiful Monica Vinader rose gold necklace a couple of years ago, which I'd love if it worked, but maybe not...

Damn. Don't think my cuff works with it.

@Girlwhowearsglasses - just had a look at the Esska shoes, bloody lovely (but could I walk in them??). Loads of colours, but would have been nice to see a natural leather/tan pair.

Sorry, playing catch up a bit on all the links

Book an appointment to have your hair done. Look on pinterest for different styles and bring them to the hairdressers. Maybe think of getting your makeup done too?

I think a 'bohemian upstyle' will be the best thing to search in pinterest. It'd suit that gorgeous dress. The clips can accessorise you too.

I can't wear heels in the sense of shoes. Too many ops on my feet. Shoe boots are my saving grace for fancy. They are more popular now so better choices out there!!

Girlwhowearsglasses · 23/08/2019 12:37

You can't go wrong with gold shoes - they go with everything; much better than orange. I am rubbish at heels but I have a pair of Esska boots a similar height and they are easy to walk in. They are properly made with padding and leather inside, and the soles are soft too

TanginaBarrons · 23/08/2019 12:46

The dress looks beautiful on you. On another note, I absolutely loved those esska fink shoes and was on the point of ordering, but are they becoming as ubiquitous as the Mahabi slippers? They have been mentioned so much recently, came up as a sponsored post on my fb and I'm worried that I have been 'influenced' 😳 and that everyone will be wearing them?

JohnMayersGuitar · 23/08/2019 13:08

Gorgeous dress, looks great on you - I would not wear a necklace or a cuff but instead wear a bold pair of earrings and some hair slides maybe - or you could think about adding earrings and a hairband together .. and for the shoes, definitely go metallic - it's a neutral and always a good investment. Tan is too casual and I think black would clash. Also although red or orange lipstick would look great I wouldn't wear it if you aren't a regular bold lipstick wearer as you'll be worrying about it transferring/coming off etc all day Smile

BikeRunSki · 23/08/2019 13:33

@Slurpy, I am picturing you and your sister to be Claire and Fleabag. Smile

TSSDNCOP · 23/08/2019 13:50

How about these shoes?

Bouledeneige · 23/08/2019 14:37

I have this dress. I wear low suede navy sling backs with it for work. But I like the rusty orange heels shared earlier.

PintOfBovril · 23/08/2019 14:49

Just wanted to say what a fab dress. You look wonderful and I hope you have a super time.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 23/08/2019 15:09

@Elllllle I'm another huuuuge fan of those Maybelline inks-I have about 6 of them (at last count!). The orangey red one is fab, I can wear it with either red or orange clothes and it goes with both. I think ruler or voyager are my favourites though.

Slurpy · 23/08/2019 17:21

@BikeRunSki - I love that you're thinking of Fleabag and Claire! Grin

@TSSDNCOP - those are nice and certainly a contender if I go the orange shoe route (and I must be due a Boden voucher soon)

The Esska shoes are all out of stock in my size. Been eyeing up some clogs linked near the top of the thread though.

Damn my penchant for ugly shoes!!!

Hi OP
Gorgeous dress and perfect for a September wedding. I would wear heela definitely - but consider a block heel or open toed slingback shoe/boot in gold or orange type shades. I would also put my hair up in a messy unstructured type updo and wear a long pendant tassel type necklace. Your pic looks fab though so literally fine tuning this - you'll look and feel amazing!! 🙏. Oh yes - a bright orange red lippy!!

Namaste6 · 23/08/2019 17:31

Heels not heela. 🙄

Namaste6 · 23/08/2019 17:33

Or if your hair is up - swap the pendant for some fab drop statement earrings! Will look great with the lippy!!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/08/2019 19:30

Sorry but I think those Esska shoes are absolutely hideous in every colour.

Elllllle · 24/08/2019 11:08

Me too @MyGhastIsFlabbered ... Loyalist is my fave with smokey eyes. They last forever and are not drying at all. Like I said, I actually saw heroine on someone in the street and asked her! It is the perfect wearable sort of orange.
