August holiday princessing?

Fatkins · 23/06/2019 09:07

Anyone up for this please?

We are planning a holiday (though haven't actually booked anything yet) in August school holidays. I am in need of much princessing 😬.

My plan is:

  • healthy eating; plenty of fruit, veg, wholefoods, lots of water. As my name would suggest, I am a bit of a fatkins at the mo Blush, so losing a few lbs would be a good idea.
  • minimum of four days a week with no Wine or Gin.
  • lots of water.
  • less caffeine.
  • yoga every day, including two - three classes.
  • less screen time, except kindle, which doesn't have the 'bad' light.
  • exfoliate daily.
  • file feet daily.
  • paint toes weekly.
  • buff and file finger nails a few times a week.
  • use gradual tan lotion stuff.
  • curly girl method for hair and also speak to wonderful hairdresser about growing hair without it going to pieces.
  • wardrobe clear out and reorganise.
  • ask about teeth whitening at dentist.

I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of for now!

Would love some company Smile.

PS: apologies if there is one of these on the go already!

Ooh can I join? We go on Aug 22nd.

So far I've had my eyebrows microbladed. Well worth the ££, I just get up and go.

Using Burts Bee Cuticle Balm on fingernails and noticing mega growth.

Need to start emulating tonight wish I had the spare cash for a Lumea.

Have hair appointment beginning of July and will probably squeeze another on in before we go.

2x a week full body exfoliation ready for false tan.

I am taking myo-insotol for Pcos and my hair is growing so long and my skin is super clear.

Gonna start my fasting again this week as I loss weight very easily on that.

rackhampearl · 25/06/2019 18:48

*epilating even not emulating 😂

Fatkins · 25/06/2019 19:42

Welcome secret and Rackham Smile.

I sorted through my summer clothes (tops+trousers mainly) to see what I was keeping and what I needed to buy to fill 'gaps'

I bought a dress today (H&M one with pockets) for lounging about at home when its too warm for leggings/top. I need to work on my pasty ,spider veiney legs . Fake tan is the only option here , even toasting my carcass for 10 days in Turkey only turned me off-white , not Bronze Goddess .

This weekend will involve :
charity shop drop off of anything useable
sort through and dispose of old underwear (bought some new bras so I can have a sort out)

KathleenW · 25/06/2019 20:27

ISo far... I've tried the Vaseline face mask 2 evenings, no spots but nice soft skin so I'll continue with that. Been on the exercise bike 20 mins each day, painted nails gold today. Been eating less and drinking more water plus a vitamin drink. Think I might be put off crest tooth whitening strips after reading they can damage gums...

Fatkins · 25/06/2019 21:13

Oh wardrobe sort out is next on my list!

I didn't know that about the tooth whitening strips... Wonder if it's different at the dentist? I meant to call today to find out about that, but got sidetracked by a grumpy toddler.

I've found some bottles of premixed slimfast which I have put in the fridge for tomorrow. Drastic times etc...

Sounds like everyone is doing excellent princessing! I need I file feet and put some nice cream on them before bed.

I like Astanga Fatkins but Iyengar just clicked for me, but it sounds weird when I put it like that!
Its hot here, but I live in Arizona so goes with the territory, we're moving to a much less sunny place soon though Confused

That sounds fab Secret where are you off to or is it too outing to say?

I've used the crest strips in the past and they gave me bad sensitivity and shooting gum pains. It was a while ago so perhaps they're better now.

I've started coconut oil pulling again as that makes an enormous difference within two days, it makes my teeth feel lovely too, and they look all white and pearly glossy Smile

EatenByDinosaurs · 25/06/2019 22:32

*Ashtanga

I put Vaseline on my face every night before bed, after my nighttime skincare, its worked like a miracle my skin looks great now.
Probably won't look great for a while when I start the Tretinoin, which I was too lazy to go to the pharmacy to get it today Blush.

Fatkins · 25/06/2019 22:37

Oh thanks for the oil pulling tip! I have tried it, but in a very half-hearted way. I might bring a jar of coconut oil up to the bathroom tonight so I don't forget Smile.

Hi all!

How is everyone doing today?

My slimfasting is so far going to plan. I braved the scales today - yikes! I have gained so much in such a short space of time 😬. Must make more effort.

I've just got dc to sleep and need to tidy up a bit. I am going to do a wardrobe clear out today, which means no time for yoga till this evening, which might actually be a good distraction from the WineCakeBlush.

It's quite sunny here today for a change. Not as oppressively humid as yesterday either.

Hope everyone else is having a good day Smile.

May I join? I am guilty of letting myself go over Spring. I only just de-haired my legs and it was at a push!

I put a much needed hair mask on today (and was perusing MN), and asked myself 'why has it been ages since I last used one?'. I think that the last time I intentionally put one on was last summer Shock

Ok. So, short break at the beginning of August and I need to ship shape up:

Will be:

Using a weekly hair mask
Using a weekly face mask
Painting my toenails
Caring for my hands and nails
Trying to wear fun / out of my comfort zone clothes.
Trying to wear my hair out more often and enjoy it (have been a protective styler out of laziness)
Use hair leave in creams (and not just have them on surfaces and in cupboards)

....and breathe. It seems like a lot and I'm at risk of altering that list already Confused

darlingtwinklebum · 26/06/2019 17:42

Following because all these tips are things I need to start working on Confused don't have a holiday to look forward to but want to feel a bit better in myself!

Fatkins · 26/06/2019 17:52

Welcome tea and darling Smile!

I took the plunge and emulated last night and it was a struggle. But I managed it all and smeared on some Cavalon and they feel super soft today. Just need to remember to keep up to it. Appetite hasn't been great today so fasting is gonna he no issue tonight. Will just have a herbal tea if I feel like I need something. Might do a face mask and tidy up my toe nails.

Lanaa · 26/06/2019 18:35

Can I join. Thinking of going in early August although nothing booked yet. I went and bought half the beauty hall last night, plus some decent basics from Superdrug, so the plan is to actually use the products I have.

I'm low carbing to lose a ridiculous amount of weight, I won't be slim before the holiday but slimmer, which will make me feel better.

I bought a waist trainer corset thing last year which I used about twice. Going to dig that out and actually use it.

Those are the basics, much more general glow upping to be done.

@rackhampearl How is the Myoinositol? Has it been beneficial in combating your pcos symptoms?

Fatkins · 26/06/2019 18:43

Welcome lanaa! I too have a fair amount of weight to lose it would seem Hmm. I cannot believe how much I've gained in a really short space of time. If I was a baby or a calf everyone would be delighted with me 😂. It's good to have some company on that front!

I'm terrified of epilating pearl. I'm considering going back to getting leg waxes. I honestly cannot be arsed to get my bikini line waxed anymore though. I just don't like the whole experience, so I just DIY with a bikini trimmer.

ReturnofSaturn · 26/06/2019 18:52

I've just started doing this so I'm in.

  • started doing 7 minute workout at home. Aim to do this at least twice a day.
  • have started with gradual tan lotion
  • wear makeup occasionally
  • wear (slightly) smarter clothes, instead of 'saving them for best' which then never gets worn.
SandraOhshair · 26/06/2019 19:28

I've found my clarins self tan drops, so used on my face last two days and have a nice healthy glow.

No carbs is merging into 1200 on my fitness pal. Either way its stopping eating crisps biscuits and cake!!!!

TeaAddict235 · 26/06/2019 19:45

Oh yes @ReturnofSaturn , that old moniker of waiting for a good occasion to wear something nice, while in the meantime old ripped stained jogging bottoms become the daily uniform?

I know that one! I have had to transform my mental approach to choosing clothes to wear each day, whether I have work that day or not. I have had soooo many clothes that I just simply had prohibited myself from wearing unless there was a celebration of some sort. And by celebration I mean looking good for the onlooker, or being in company with more than DH and the DC. I still struggle from time to time, but I am edging nearer to freedom and wearing nice things when I want to.

EatenByDinosaurs · 26/06/2019 20:40

Crikey Fatkins sounds like you're steaming ahead Smile. The oil pulling still makes me gag a a bit so I try and distract myself while doing it!

Welcome all

Its another fast day for me, had 250 calories for breakfast though so nothing more for the rest of the day now. It's frustrating, I usually just have a 250 calorie snack at 6pm on fast days, and nothing bar green tea the rest of the day, but I was in a bit of a daze this morning and forgot it was a fast day Hmm Blush

I've done yoga again, and a face mask and the oil pulling.

I'm guilty of the saving for best too Saturn I've been trying to change that in the last month and it does make a big difference to how I feel.

rackhampearl · 26/06/2019 20:43

@Lanaa its wonderful. I feel like I could have saved myself alot of struggles over the years if I'd have been taking it sooner. Maybe some of it is a placebo effect but I'm really loving it. My skin is clearer, my chin hairs arent growing back as fast, my cravings are stabilised and plenty of other stuff I'm keeping an eye on. It's good stuff. Also very annoying that my phone keeps correcting epilating to emulating. Grrr.

troppibambini · 26/06/2019 21:13

I'm still plodding along, it was weigh in day today another 1.5lbs gone. So 10lbs in total.

@TeaAddict235 which hair mask did you use? I could do with a really moisturising one.

Did someone ask about teeth whitening? I use the kit from new happy smile you get sent a Diy tray mould and then buy the bleach separately I've found it really good, it's about £45 for the trays and around £20 for the bleach.

I'm going to fake tan tonight I went to Turkey in the May school holidays but feeling very pale now!

Lanaa · 26/06/2019 23:39

Thanks @rackhampearl I've just ordered some from Amazon, so hopefully I can start it tomorrow. These chin hairs are really getting me down. I feel like approx 25% of my time is spent removing them!

Lanaa · 26/06/2019 23:43

Thanks @Fatkins. The scales are a pain. Why does the number go up so quickly? If only it would go down as fast.

SandraOhshair · 27/06/2019 07:52

I have lost 3lbs since Monday. Probably lots of water but who cares. Love low carb!
