I am NOT enjoying choosing my wedding dress - pics

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:22

I’m getting married on my 45th birthday, in just a couple of weeks - and I’m so excited.

Except I’m at my fattest. Ever. And suddenly who I feel I am inside doesn’t match what’s in the mirror.

I simply can’t find a dress that suits me.

I keep thinking I’ve found ‘the one’ - then I see the pics and just feel I look heinous, and back it goes.

If I show the pics, can anyone out there give me honest feedback, make suggestions etc?

It’s a tiny registry office wedding followed by a nice dinner after.

TIA

Hi @Pink. It's probably not as bad as you think. I would absolutely love to see some pics of you in the dresses you tried. And I promise to be honest!

onalongsabbatical · 16/04/2019 21:27

I will most certainly have a go and I promise to be honest with you, OP. Only thing is I'm on my laptop and can't always see pix posted on mumsnet. But give it a try. Sure some others will be along soon too.

NotMeNoNo · 16/04/2019 21:27

Go on. Maybe you need a slight change of style

ScienceIsTruth · 16/04/2019 21:28

Always happy to give an honest opinion Smile

MyKingdomForBrie · 16/04/2019 21:29

Definitely here to help!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 16/04/2019 21:30

Oh, I love a weddings dress thread!
I still regret allowing myself to be talked out of a 3/4 length grey 1920s style dress and into a big white meringue.

yesyesyep · 16/04/2019 21:31

Post away. It's always lovely to be part of someone's big day. I'm sure you don't look like how you feeling.

Whatever happens. Enjoy your day, whatever size you are. It's no fun worrying about something you can't change.

wellhonestly · 16/04/2019 21:31

Happy to try to help too.

picklemepopcorn · 16/04/2019 21:31

FrozenMargarita17 · 16/04/2019 21:32

TitianaTitsling · 16/04/2019 21:32

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 16/04/2019 21:33

I can empathise. I'd love to help you I bet you look lovely. I tried some on and was surprised how slimming some styles have been

Would love to help OP

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 16/04/2019 21:33

Yep, I'm here for you - 2 weddings, regret my dress choice both time. I WILL NOT let anyone else do the same.

TitianaTitsling · 16/04/2019 21:34

And remember are you getting hair/make up done? Did you have the shoes on you will be wearing?

CurbsideProphet · 16/04/2019 21:35

Oh no, I'm genuinely sorry you feel so down at such a happy time (I'm getting married later this year). A lot of the high street stores have a "bridal" section which might be a good place to start.

SleepWarrior · 16/04/2019 21:36

Ooh, congratulations Flowers. Here is the perfect place for objective feedback, post away!

Mummyto2munchkins · 16/04/2019 21:37

Redcrayons · 16/04/2019 21:39

Im sure you're nowhere near as bad as you think.

Chosennone · 16/04/2019 21:40

I know someone who wore this and it was very flattering as floaty around the tummy amd thigh area. They had good calves though.

I love wedding dress choosing.

Not for myself - took me forever extra purchases and returns before settling on dress no. 1

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:47

Gosh, lots of replies!

Sorry I disappeared - poor old DP found me despondent in the bedroom and has been trying to reassure me.
