I am NOT enjoying choosing my wedding dress - pics

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:22

I’m getting married on my 45th birthday, in just a couple of weeks - and I’m so excited.

Except I’m at my fattest. Ever. And suddenly who I feel I am inside doesn’t match what’s in the mirror.

I simply can’t find a dress that suits me.

I keep thinking I’ve found ‘the one’ - then I see the pics and just feel I look heinous, and back it goes.

If I show the pics, can anyone out there give me honest feedback, make suggestions etc?

It’s a tiny registry office wedding followed by a nice dinner after.

TIA

Can't see that yet @Pink. Has it uploaded properly?

Refilona · 16/04/2019 21:54

Yes OP, let us know what style you would like and we’ll help!

I've just done this exact same thing. I'm 44 and getting married next month. Was really stressing but am sorted now. Please do post your pictures.

hopeishere · 16/04/2019 21:55

What do you think are your "bad" bits? I hate my bum and thighs so went for a big skirted dress that covered them.

NotMeNoNo · 16/04/2019 21:55

Also, what sort of clothes/look do you feel best in for everyday clothes or have you any other dresses you really like?

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:56

Dammit. Sorry - my phone won’t seem to let me download pics!

Argh

I bet you look gorgeous and you’re being too hard on yourself!

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 21:58

Right, while I’m phone wrangling, my bad bits are my tummy and hips. I also seem to have acquired boobs that I don’t really know what to do with.

I like the dress that a pp pictured above. Something like that would be lovely.

I usually like midi dresses with a bit of a Seventies boho vibe. It should be easy, but I just feel rubbish in everything.

Something like this? Maybe not Boho enough:

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 22:00

Why can’t I post pics?

See, everything about this is hard!!

Believe it or not, I tried almost that exact dress, but with longer sleeves.

Beautiful dress, but my big hips made me look like a lampshade Sad

The dress above is from Little Mistress. I think Asos stocks it and it might do a 'curve' section too.

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 22:03

I’m sorry about the pics. I can’t understand why it won’t work

My only advice is to push aside your 'ideal wedding dress'. Keep trying on dresses if only to discount them. If there is somewhere you usually like the clothes then start here. (I've managed to lose a few pounds now - which while I'm not saying you have to do....but if you want to it can be done). I had one dress hanging up which was ok - but too small - with a view to slimming into it. That wasn't the best idea...but did give me a back up dress. The one I'm going to wear has some stretch and is my usual style. It's not a typical wedding dress but I do feel comfortable in it.

FrozenMargarita17 · 16/04/2019 22:04

I'd be willing to bet it wasn't as bad as you think. When you tried them on did you have your hair and make up done? It always makes a difference to me when I try stuff on

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 16/04/2019 22:04

You have to get the pic from your camera stream to post took me several attempts this morning

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 22:08

Ok, when I click on the photo a white circle appears as if it’s downloading. That’s never happened before. And when I click ‘done’ nothing happens.

Don’t give up on me please!!

Ah sounds like I was on the right track. You could report your post to Mumsnet by pressing the 3 dots and tell them your photos aren't uploading to see if they will help. I'm sure they will Smile

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 16/04/2019 22:11

Oh i dont know what to suggest other than keep trying or send a message to mumsnet or a PM to a poster so we can upload on your behalf?

Aimily · 16/04/2019 22:12

I love a good wedding dress, I'm with a lot of pps that you're your own worst critic and you probably look so much better than you think! I'm totally here for when technology plays ball x

worriedaf · 16/04/2019 22:12

Maybe this isn’t what you’re looking for but how pretty is this dress?!

WineIsMyCarb · 16/04/2019 22:12

Maybe something a bit more structured Pink
The 70s boho look is lovely but, having been a size 16-18 I can say that it's much easier to do if you're more waif like.
Are you bottom-heavy or busty? If you're not too norky then this would be heaven in any size:

AdaColeman · 16/04/2019 22:13

Do you live anywhere near a John Lewis store OP?
Their personal shopper would help you to find something lovely I'm sure. It's a free service I think.

Pinkarsedfly · 16/04/2019 22:14

Okay, another go.

Dress 1, went back. Excuse the pants - they’re my diet and exercise inspiration Blush
