On every thread where someone posts a picture of sandals to ask for advice, theres always a chorus of 'hideous', 'granny', 'fugly' etc. So please share some photos of sandals that you think are nice, stylish, chic, non-stomach-churning, whatever. Bear in mind that many of us need sandals to be comfortable and suitable for lots of walking. I promise no snarky comments!

These are mine which are coming today -I am hoping the flex bit means they are comfortable.

I have tried Saltwaters and found them uncomfortable and they looked a bit Sunday school teacher on me.

I think Birkenstocks are bloody lovely and not ugly in the least. For me the dainty type of sandals are something I associate with my mum’s generation.

I have to admit that last summer I gave up the hunt and got these. I've always found Havaianas really comfy but the flippy floppy ness gets on my tits sometimes. These are great!

I have saltwaters and Birkenstock’s Arizona’s which many consider frumpy but they go with everything and I can wear them all day. Plush they are so ubiquitous that most people don’t bat an eyelid at them.

I have also previously had timberland sandals and I would recommend them if you have ‘sturdy’ feet.

HastaLaVistaPrint · 16/04/2019 09:54

What is Yokono sizing like? I find Campers very narrow, and they're also Spanish.

HastaLaVistaPrint · 16/04/2019 09:56

Oh yes, Timberland are great. Their soles are really sturdy, but not shaped, so if you need arch support they may not be the way to go. Nice designs though.

MrsChanandlerBongg · 16/04/2019 10:03

I always picked on my dad for buying Birkenstock's 😂 but got myself some cheaper versions very similar to these and now I want the real thing 🤷🏻‍♀️ so comfy and go with everything!!!

Fit flop 3 years this year and still going strong.
Even better don’t have to worry if the trotter nails are painted.

I also have these babies. I wouldn’t wear them for a whole day of schlepping long distance but they’re great for pottering round a museum etc.

@PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair those look great, what range are they

hellhasahancart · 16/04/2019 10:24

I have just bought these for summer, they are surprisingly comfortable bit.ly/2UgJfRn

Pompello · 16/04/2019 10:45

I'm really not into that clompy Lotte from Stockholm look. I'd rather go barefoot.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 16/04/2019 10:47

Ace, thanks @visitorthedog.

Also interested in those ones, PaulHollywood. I love the idea of a clog but the rigid soles and a childhood clog related trauma put me off.

Alsohuman · 16/04/2019 10:48

Is it just me or do Birkenstocks make farting noises on anyone else?

Holidayshopping · 16/04/2019 10:51

Birkenstock Madrid-they are comfy, I think they look good (I have tiny feet, they may not look so good on bigger feet?) and last for years.

I have these Whitestuff
Have wasted many hours trying to find the perfect pair of sandals, these are the nearest I could get to my ideal: not black, slight heel (preferably not a wedge) adjustable straps and closed toe or peep toe.

visitorthedog · 16/04/2019 11:09

Ooh @hastalavistaprint are those the big buckle style? I’ve been looking at those for months, they keep sending me emails 😻

HastaLaVistaPrint · 16/04/2019 12:06

Yes, and they have leather insides rather than suedey stuff.

Ellapaella · 16/04/2019 13:10

I shouldn't have ever looked at this thread. I already have too many pairs of sandals and now I've just ordered these Birkenstock's - I'll have to eBay something significant now to make up for it..

I'm now surrounded by ads for sandals!

JaneJeffer · 16/04/2019 13:22

These from Earth Spirit. Have support and are really comfy. I have awkward feet.

ProperVexed · 16/04/2019 13:36

@JaneJeffer I really like those sandals. Where did you find them? Brief online search reveals similar but not exact.

mimiasovitch · 16/04/2019 13:42

@HastaLaVistaPrint I have yokono sandals and they fit my wide feet just fine. They took a bit of breaking in but I could wear them for work, where I am in my feet all day, just fine. I'll get another pair this year in case they die on me🌾

Tunnockswafer · 16/04/2019 13:42

Well I’ve just bought some Hotter tourist sandals in yellow so I know I don’t belong on a style and beauty thread Grin I do like ankle straps and wish Birkenstock made more like that (I already have the Rios) and in better colours. I am nervous about driving in anything that just slips on in case it just slips off at the wheel.
