Kimonos?

I’ve been seeing these in a few shops and have started to wonder if i could wear one without looking ridiculous, or like I’m wearing my PJs and dressing gown. I fancy a black sheer one wth a big flower print but it would have to be quite long, as I’m a pear and anything wafty that stops on my hips makes me look enormous.

Anyone embracing the kimono this spring/summer? Or are they just stupid?

I'm like the idea of a map one if the place is particularly significant to you. I've got a floral one (actually, the flower is significant to me), and I like that it's striking as I wear it on nights out.

My map scarf was a thank you present from DD after I took her to New York. It turned out to be a map of Niagara Falls - she’d picked the wrong one up in the shop. I still love it though.

Well I discovered a shop locally that sells a few of the One Hundred Stars Kimonos and I now own the pale green stork one and a cream one with parrots, and I still want more, plus I would also like the weather to warm up so I can wear them.

ohhh hadn't heard of One Hundred Stars before but some of those kimonos are absolutely beautiful! I definitely want one for my holidays this year.

I know this thread is a couple of month old but I've just bought the Paris map kimono from 100 stars for half price thanks to a Mumsnet link.

And going back to @SmiledWithTheRisingSun 's question from April, I see that Kim Kardashian is going to rename her shapewear brand which was launched as Kimono, following lots of calls of cultural appropriation.

No opinion either way. Just interesting...
