Kimonos?

I’ve been seeing these in a few shops and have started to wonder if i could wear one without looking ridiculous, or like I’m wearing my PJs and dressing gown. I fancy a black sheer one wth a big flower print but it would have to be quite long, as I’m a pear and anything wafty that stops on my hips makes me look enormous.

Anyone embracing the kimono this spring/summer? Or are they just stupid?

Ooh I love kimonos.

I tried some on today but I looked like too small and dumpy, looked like I had a nightie on.

May need to lose some weight first.

Grace I got the wide legged trousers which is why the kimono might have been an option but I thought nah, too much, will be pyjamas, can’t wear it with anything else (actually prob true in my case) ... so missed out! 😩

Would one of the posters who've ordered a 100 stars kimono mind posting a pic of them wearing it when it comes? Really want to see what it looks like on before I buy.

I am 6’ and muscly size 12 so unlikely to be helpful to many people in the “what does it look like on” stakes 🤣 am just hoping that the answer isn’t “like I outgrew it”...

Just to bring a bit of balance to the kimono frenzy. I got my One Hundred Stars. It is lovely. Nice design and lovely material. Very good value I think. However, I am sending it back because it is too short. It's boxy and makes me look massive. I think it would be better mid thigh length or over bum. It sits above my hip and I am only 5 ft 3". I can also see that it doesn't really suit me and it looks like I am wearing it to cover up the 1.5 stone I need to shed. I look like Gemma Teller after she was forced to do community service working in Laura Ashley.

Oh no Positive, how disappointing. I have just measured 3" down from hip level (difference in our heights) and there's a good chance that mine will come to an unflattering mid bum level... Their sales have surged but returns will also go up I guess!

I find the length of mine fine! It's slightly loose and boxy on me (which I like) - I've only worn it once so far, with skinny jeans and a fitted tee.

I didn't know this as a thing. I like them but even the models in the links above do look a bit like hey have gone out in their dressing gown!

DH gave me a beautiful silk one when DD1 was born. I only wear it as a dressing gown though.

TooMinty I'm 5'4". And you're very kind but those are my most flattering trousers and I have to lie down to fasten them up these dsys!
