Kimonos?

I’ve been seeing these in a few shops and have started to wonder if i could wear one without looking ridiculous, or like I’m wearing my PJs and dressing gown. I fancy a black sheer one wth a big flower print but it would have to be quite long, as I’m a pear and anything wafty that stops on my hips makes me look enormous.

Anyone embracing the kimono this spring/summer? Or are they just stupid?

Wore my aqua stork one today, love it! Perfect to cover my peely wally shoulders on this uncharacteristically hot day. Did dip my sleeve in my lunch though 😂

@GraceMarks Is that a certain gift shop in North London? The Paris gown was worn by Nigella in one of her tv shows!

I'd love to see a pic of a taller poster wearing one of the kimonos. I'm 5'11" and am worried I'll just look like ridiculous in one. @SophoclesTheFox I noticed that you said you were tall like me...any chance of a pic or of feedback on how the length is on you?

@SilverHighlights what did your boho length kimono look like? I'm a bit frustrated with the One hundred stars website for not showing the kimonos on models...it's hard to gauge what they'll look like on.

I bought one from ebay on the strength of this thread and it came today and I love it! Only £8.39. As one would expect from a Kimono, very light and floaty but I love the sleeves. I think I've added a pic of myself in it. I've gone and ordered one in Navy blue this morning as I love it so much.

It’s a bit short on me at 6’, to be honest, scarlett. I think I can style it out, but it hits at an awkward spot above my hipbones. I like it, but I don’t love it, and my husband asked me why I was wearing jammies to go out 🤣

@ScarlettDarling sorry for not updating, my kimono is gorgeous. It’s a bit below bum length, I’m 5’ 4” and size 14. I’ll try to put up a picture soon.

My two Hundred Stars kimonos arrived last week in the tiniest cardboard box...I thought there must only be one in the box! But they were both there, they are a lovely fine fabric and as I could t decide which I liked best I kept both! I wore one of them last night for a party & felt fab in it!

I wanted a quilted jacket style and they have this darker version in tk Maxx but only in XS. I’m tall and like looser fitting jackets. I googled and couldn’t find it anywhere but in France.

If they don’t send it I’ve lost my money as I don’t have a credit card only a debit card and they don’t take PayPal.

I had one a few years back (I am trying to remember where I bought it , but it was a 'Oh must have it' thing ) blue paisley , lovely with jeans and a vest .
My DD got a couple, from New Look , floral - one cream one black.
Not a natural fabric ( they were under £20) but quite lightweight .

Might search out a new one ....

Sophocles thanks for your feedback. It sounds too short for what I'm after. Things that cut me off around my hip bones just make my legs look ridiculous and out of proportion.

Has anyone bought one of the throwover style or are they just for flinging on over a swimming cossie?

Just watched Mamma Mia 2 and noticed Emma Stone was wearing a 100 Stars Paris map Kimono. It looked lovely but definitely would be too short for me. May have to go for one of the other options.

Silver that’s lovely. Scarlet yours is lovely too and i love the colour but I couldn’t wear one that length, I’m a pear and it would fall just at my widest bit and make me look twice my normal width.

I’m wearing my charity shop one today, I think it’s from aldi. It’s ever so floaty. Scuse filthy mirror; that weird white line is on the mirror and not my top.

Owners of 100 Stars kimonos. I’ve been given some money to buy myself a treat and fancy one of their gowns for wafting about the house in. What is the fabric like - is it very sheer/see through or more silky?

Mine is cotton and matt.

I bought this yesterday- it’s gorgeous! The lighting in my bedroom doesn’t do it any favours. It’s a vintage haori, so fully lined and a bit thicker. I also bought a full length one, which is being altered to the right length, I’ll post a photo when I pick it up.
Now, if it would just warm up enough for me to wear it!

That looks really lovely on you. I have now bought a One Hundred Stars Botanical Throwover. Drapes beautifully to form an uneven hem which falls below the knee. I agree this weather is very unhelpful

Evilharpy, the material is fairly sheer but the darker colours less so. There is no sheen to the fabric either.

Erm, I’ve got 5 of those One Hundred Stars ones in my basket I’m obviously not going to buy them all but I can’t choose. I love the idea of the map ones but think some of the floral/birds ones are more striking. But then maybe I don’t want striking.....Aaargh!
