Link to book group thread, which has the list of books.

And in case you get bored of the royals or they're having a quiet week, here's the Celebrity S&G thread!

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

I do hope 'they' don't round on the baby.

If she/ he looks very obviously mixed race, which may well be the case with one African American grandparent, the right-wing tabloids will inevitably pander to the racism of their readers.

Clionba · 03/02/2019 19:57

HM re wears a lot, I believe, and often has hats slightly restyled. I read that she donates some clothes to charities in Scotland.

karala · 03/02/2019 20:04

delurking to thank you all for such interesting threads and to thank MrsCampbellBlack for reminding me of the bonkers Birkin thread

goes back to lurking

There’s a royal hat blog?
Of course there is a royal hat blog! Another one to add to my list!!!!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/02/2019 20:22

HMs outfits are remodelled, reworn, then donated.
Iconic pieces are kept for exhibitions.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/02/2019 20:32

I do hope 'they' don't round on the baby.

To be honest, Harry & Meghan should follow William and Kate’s lead and keep baby Sussex out of the public eye and just release periodic photos.
Apart from his debut on the Lindo wing steps; Louis has never been seen in public.
The only photos are two taken around the time of Charlotte’s Birthday, a few at his christening, a few for Prince Charles birthday and the Christmas card.
Next one we will see will probably be for his 1 st Birthday, and they may well use the same photo shoot for Charlotte’s 4th Birthday.
The Cambridge children were quite high profile last year with Louis’ christening and the Royal weddings.
However having seen the videos of baby / toddler William I posted on the last thread, if William and Kate only want their children seen annually on the balcony at a Trooping the colour, and the oddphoto released throughout the year, then I would totally understand that.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 03/02/2019 20:44

Apparently M&H can choose some paintings from the Royal Collection to hang in their new home.

queenofarles · 03/02/2019 21:01

Oh wow!! I would pick an old master painting over jewels every time.

How would it fit in a soho house inspired decor?

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/02/2019 21:04

Well we don't actually know what their decor will be like as everything written about it is speculation!

Will and Kate have items from the Royal collection at KP. Remember when Obama visited and we saw the interior of the apartment? Also the fact that one of the paintings depicted a scene with an African slave.

queenofarles · 03/02/2019 21:33

Yes, I believe it was an Albert Cuyp painting

Also I think there is a Reynolds painting too in K&W Kensigton Apartment?

Gooseysgirl · 03/02/2019 23:01

On the subject of CP Mary and headbands... this is my favourite rewear of hers! It's a kind of headband/hat/fascinated Mir all rolled into one but I love how she wore it for the kids' baptisms Smile

Just to follow on from a post on the previous thread, Catherine was wearing a large ring on her right hand at Harry and Meghan's wedding. A reporter surmised it was a push present from William

Sadly no. Turns out it was an old one from her Mahiki/Bijou days.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/02/2019 23:19

I don't know about CPM's hat, it looks a bit like an old fashioned swimming cap!

Not sure I'd consider that much of a perk! Grin

Those are lovely pics goosey she looks great in all of them.

I do like a headband!

SirVixofVixHall · 04/02/2019 09:06

DH’s Great great grandmother was a Lascelles. I am glad you think they are interesting and eccentric, I think that is a family trait !

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2019 09:33

Wow @SirVixofVixHall! I noticed in the link @CurlyWurlyTwirly posted that all the descendants of George V born out of wedlock are Lascelles. I think they've also had careers in film and music production - a bit unusual for members of the royal family, even if they aren't strictly royal.

OP posts:
Paradyning · 04/02/2019 09:48

Was Sir Alan Frederick Lascelles a relative then??

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 04/02/2019 09:53

All the lines descended from a Princess Royal , in the Lascelles case ; Mary, sister of Edward viii and George vi seem to be very interesting.
Look at Zara Tindall
I’m sure Charlotte will be a Princess Royal and show a similar feisty character to great aunt Anne.

SirVixofVixHall · 04/02/2019 10:12

Yes, Tommy Lascelles was a cousin, but DH didn’t meet him.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2019 11:28

The Tommy Lascelles in The Crown isn't descended from Princess Mary though, is he?

I was looking at the line of succession to the Earldom of Harewood and the current earl's second son is the heir as the eldest is illegitimate. But he only has a daughter (his son is by a previous relationship) and his younger brother is unmarried. They're all only in their thirties though so plenty of time to have sons although in this day and age it's so odd that girls can't inherit most titles.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/02/2019 12:09

This is quite interesting - the first 100 people in the line of succession to the British throne list that goes beyond the descendents of George V. The first one after that is the Duke of Fife and his family, and after that it's King Harald of Norway!

SirVixofVixHall · 04/02/2019 12:27

Tommy Lascelles was a cousin of Henry, who married princess Mary.
