Link to book group thread, which has the list of books.

And in case you get bored of the royals or they're having a quiet week, here's the Celebrity S&G thread!

Remember, let's critique the clothes without getting too personal about the wearers.

What's the protocol behind borrowing royal jewels to take on long haul overseas trips? How do they travel? It won't be in the hold so I'm imagining a PA gets put on jewel duty!

I've read that someone has the responsibility of carrying the box! I'd be worried about leaving it somewhere when I went to the loo....

queenofarles · 03/02/2019 12:43

Diana received some priceless jewels as gifts from Gulf monarchs , one was a pair of natural pearl earrings, sapphire suite , which she had them remodeled to more simpler pieces . Maybe W&H are keeping them as assets instead of handing them to thier wives?

God!
Ignore my silly mistakes
I should stop posting on my phone Blush

Mar and Fre attended the funetal of a young count who was tragically killed. Fashion should obviously be the last thing on our minds but I couldn't help but wonder if she's trying to get in on the headband game?

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 03/02/2019 13:21

Mary has worn headbands like that from years back.

MakeItAmazing · 03/02/2019 13:23

Just to follow on from a post on the previous thread, Catherine was wearing a large ring on her right hand at Harry and Meghan's wedding. A reporter surmised it was a push present from William.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/02/2019 13:58

Rania is in Turkey but there's something slightly off about her coat. Either it needs to be a tad longer or it needs to be less voluminous. The proportions don't look quite right.

I know what you mean @LoversLane but it wasn't as time deaf as when the DM's royal reporter started talking about #hellotokindness. They are the worst offender of all!

OP posts:
LoversLane · 03/02/2019 14:05

Oooh, glad I avoid DM like the plague, that would have made me ill.

SenecaFalls · 03/02/2019 14:10

Coverage of both Catherine and Meghan tends to be uniformly positive here in the States. There has been reporting about the racist overtones of some of the commentary in the UK about Meghan.

desertgirl · 03/02/2019 14:10

Queen I liked the coat but thought either the coat should be longer or the skirt shorter, the combination seemed wrong. Maybe it is the proportions of the coat though; i’m not particularly good at these things

beanaseireann · 03/02/2019 15:21

What does the Queen do with all her outfits ?
She doesn't appear to re-wear them.
She is in another new outfit today at Sandringham.

CreakyBlinder · 03/02/2019 15:53

Checking in & thanks for the new thread @QueenOfTheAndals

LaurenOrdering · 03/02/2019 16:08

Wow that's amazing @CreakyBlinder
For a split second I bet you contemplated trying it on Grin

Notmyrealname855 · 03/02/2019 16:40

Lovely tiara!! If I worked there I’d try it on behind the scenes!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 03/02/2019 16:40

Did anyone see the C5 documentary on Royal servants. Particularly sad the chap who was (?) butler to The Queen Mother, who was cast aside when she died. He was devastated and turned to drink.

beanaseireann · 03/02/2019 16:42

Isn't this a lovely photo of the Queen

Was that Backstairs Billy? Their employment seems so tenuous. That's what the problem was with Paul Burrell - when Diana died he was immediately out of a job and home. That's what happens.

TipseyTorvey · 03/02/2019 16:57

Thanks for the new thread queen, great title! On the servants I thought many of them get cottages and such? When I used to work near Windsor Castle there were lots of these type of homes. Or is that only for Chelsea pensioner types and not personal servants? Strange sort of life in this day and age if there's no back up though. I gather it's not particularly well paid.

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/02/2019 16:58

Suzanne Moore on Meghan, bump-cradling and the tabloids makes several good points.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 03/02/2019 17:45

Great article. I do hope 'they' don't round on the baby.

AdaColeman · 03/02/2019 17:52

CreakyBlinder Amazing tiara!

The Queen is looking for a new butler at the moment.

Wetdogloveshubert · 03/02/2019 17:56

That's a great piece, Queen. Some sense from the tabloids is apparently too much to ask, though.
